What’s your Grail Pin? And if you eventually obtained your grail Pin, did your grail pin change to something else?

I don’t have a grail pin but 5 on a wish list. Picking one up today. Any guesses?

#2 4 months ago

Mine is Quicksilver. It’ll probably never happen but it’s fun to dream!

#3 4 months ago

Mine are Quick Draw... and Deadpool.

I'll guess Subway (or Cross Town)

GNR in NJ. Finally got one back after selling 12 yrs ago. Spent 2-1/2 months on a tear down.

If we are talking EMs as this is in the EM hangout, I've had quite a few and ended up with most of them.

The last true EM grail for me was Williams Beat The Clock, and I scored a nice example less than a year ago. Not much left to wish for after that.

#6 4 months ago

Paragon. Who's selling?

#7 4 months ago

This is mine but with only 120 made it’s a pipe dream. A close 2nd would be a Mata Hari EM and I think only 170 of them were made.

Odin, What about WMS Reserve?

My holy grail
beside Reserve would be
GTB North Star ( never found one in decent condition) or (Gemini if i ever found one for not unreasonable $$$)
WMS Black Gold (I worked in the oil field)
BLY King Tut (not necessarily a hard game to find, but just never came across one in nice condition) I did buy a King Rex though.

Odin, What about WMS Reserve?

That would be cool. There was a list of what to get if I could find them in decent shape and that was one of them, but at the end of the day, I only have room for so many, and so many have come and gone and now I am down to only good ones that still get played a lot.

There was a nice EM Black Jack at the local auction a couple of years ago, and it went for decent money, but not excessive considering the rarity. I played it, but that in itself didn't make me want to bid on it. There also seem to be more than 170 EM Mata Haris out there as they come up for sale pretty often, and I myself have seen several examples over the last few years. Too many to be that rare.

#12 4 months ago

I've had many over the years but the biggie was a Charlies Angels EM. version. Took me 12 years of searching HARD to find one..., finally got it in my hands for five years and then someone came along with a boat load of cash so I sold it to him. He kept it for a couple of years and then wanted to know if I wanted to buy it back so we worked out a deal and now it's here to stay. Nowadays there are two grails left, a Bally Bigfoot and a Log Cabin. Anyone??

We have to guess? You can't be frank with us and just tell us? (Nice variety of pins, by the way.)

MM.

I was lucky enough over the years to eventually buy sell and trade up to get a MMrLe.

#17 4 months ago

For me, it would be a Bally Freedom prototype with the middle pop between the flippers. My youngest and I had a great time playing one at a show last year.

After that I would look for:
Dogies
Skyrocket
A really nice Fan-tas-tic

#18 4 months ago

I’d like to find a Williams Rocket.

A genuine HUO Crosstown that looks like it just came out of the box.

And that's why it is a grail...

It's a moving target... it was Medieval Madness....

Wow...who has #1??????

This really is a moving target, but I'd love to find a Gottlieb Gemini in any kind of shape...for a reasonable price. I think they made 300. If I get that and a Strange World, I could finally let go of 1978....well, except for the way I dress...

DaMoib - if you find a Quick Draw, you should snag it - tons of fun! It's definitely a keeper!

Dayhuff - I have a SS Charlie's Angels in an arcade here, and the first thing folks say when they play it is "Gee, I wish Farrah Fawcett had been on it." So I played with the artwork during this downtime.. Purists, please avert your delicate gaze...and Gordon Morrison, forgive me!

Bally Medusa, nobody has seen it around here, so i might have to import one lovely day in a far off future when im rich LOL

#27 4 months ago

Mine was Centigrade 37 (just the right mix and checks a lot of gameplay boxes for me)
I'm happy to report I landed one a little while ago.

I find that for many, grail should also be qualified by finding the machine locally, in great condition, and at a price that fits ones budget. This is definitely the case for me, as I had pretty much given up on finding a C37 that would be afforable for me.

Funny but true story, during the pick-up, my son was helping and speaking to the seller about how long I had been looking for this game, and how amazing the condition was.. and so on.. of course, I'm kind of like.. ahem, just trying to get it packed away in the vehicle before the price started to creep up.

I love Centigrade 37! I'd pay extra for one that was right-side up, though..

I remember when Fireball and Joker Poker EM were my grail electro mechanicals. Seems like ages ago and glad my tastes have improved since then. But also glad I got it out of my system and had a chance to own nice examples of both and then move on.

Hmm.. trying to figure out if this is sarcasm

Ha. Fireball in collector quality shape for me.
I did just score a nice Prospector though. Can't wait to bring it home.

None at all.

Being it had been decades since I had played the EMs I played as a kid when I started buying machines, I took the easy road and went after games I remember liking when I was younger of which Fireball and Joker Poker EM were two.

So many better games that I had not played have made their way here since those two hit the highway years ago. I don't need reminders of my youth now, and none of the EMs I currently own do I remember playing with the exception of perhaps Pit Stop. And that would be a very fuzzy memory.

Out with the old-

Anyone got a nice one for sale?

Sorry, they both went out the back door several years ago.

As I mentioned, they only stay if they get played regularly or aren't taking up otherwise valuable space.

Nice!.. I actually had the opportunity to play quite a bit of Big Daddy. LOVE IT, I'd argue it's my #1 2" flipper game.. (I also love many 60s WMS titles) .

Still Joker Poker is one I am working on, but since I'm looking at it as more of a player, I'm good with the SS version which is not too bad to get a hand on, as opposed to the EM which would be a grail for any EM collector (but you apparently)

I had a SS lined up when I sold the EM, and a nice one, but even that didn't last very long. Easy game to get played out on pretty fast. And although it certainly wasn't his worst, I didn't really care much for the artwork after a while.

It's all relative, you start bringing in more stylish games to your liking, and some of the others just start looking not so good and you just want them gone.

#44 4 months ago

Three EMs were on my Grail list. Centigrade 37; I found a nice one a few years ago and love it! Two more recent pickups that I had been looking for a long time were Dodge City and Teacher's Pet. I'm loving both of those games too!

Right now I can't think of an EM that I "have to have" like those three. You never know though. All it takes is to see an EM that for some reason really tickles my fancy and I will be on the prowl again. I do have Beat the Clock on my wish list will have to do as my current EM grail.

#45 4 months ago

Was a nice Fast Draw, then a nice Fireball, then a nice Argosy. I sold the Fireball but it wasn’t very nice. I don’t see myself letting go of Argosy. It’s my favorite EM.

I am really only trying to find a Chicago Coin Thing. There are very few EMs that interest me more than that particular game these days. Prerequisites are it has to be within a 10 hour drive and it has to be nice. Over 10 years and I have not found one yet... I think I will find one eventually but sadly, I don’t think it will happen until a current owner passes away @ an estate sale auction.

Here it is. Not my grail pin, was on the top of my wish list.

All I can say is have fun with it, and if you ever get tired of looking at it or playing it, there will always be someone else out there looking for something as rare.

#49 4 months ago

My grail pin has been Eldorado and have missed out on the last two but when this Gold Strike came up I could get it fast enough. I was second in line for this and had to wait 24 hours before the first buyer made up his mind. That was a very long 24 hour wait. Its in my game room now and the wife and I are so happy! Good thing come to those who wait!

I don’t have a grail pin but 5 on a wish list. Picking one up today. Any guesses?

20 years ago it was STTNG. Never thought I could own one, but then it happened about 10+ years ago locally and for a fantastic price. I said it would never leave, except for another grail pin....LOTR. So what happened, I traded it 5 years ago for a beautiful ground up restored LOTR that once again I never thought I would be lucky enough to own. I said LOTR isn't ever leaving because the only way it would ever go is for a JJP Pirates and God knows that isn't ever happening. Lo and behold, last year I sold it towards my "never thought I would ever be able to get or afford one" grail pin JJP Pirates. It was a local deal and the price was more than right, a perfect storm for me. That dream has now been realized and it isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. My patience has paid off over the years.

Finally I can honestly say there is nothing else I want more now. It will be my last pin to go and that's saying a lot because I love my RBION too and it's my longest current tenured game as I've had it for almost 10 years now.
