When i was working overseas in Tanzania and Mozambique
they had a ginger ale soda that i grew fond of,
    it had a little kick.

    Quoted from Onevox:

Blenheim Ginger Ale from North Carolina. It burns your throat like nothing I've experienced. Leaves you choking and gasping for breath and muttering obscenities. Then you think, "I'd like another sip."

    That sounds a lot like
    what Stoney Tangawizi is like

or does it seem that years ago
soda pop had much more carbonation than it does today.
When i was a kid back in the early 60s
i was always burping up bubbles thru my nose.

And if the person prior to you chooses vanilla or cherry, etc flavors,

I bought a six pack of Henry Weinhard's Root Beer recently.
A staple here in the PNW.
Pretty delicious, with a creamy finish.
    Supposedly
Made with real vanilla extract accented with honey, spices and sassafras extract
to give the familiar root beer flavor finishing with traces of wintergreen.

Their real beer ain't bad either.
