Has anyone noticed that girl? Was it meant to be like this or was it a mistake?

What? That's how I look when I get on a roller coaster. Hate those things. Looks fine to me.

#3 1 year ago

Ive never really noticed her before. Reminds me of the Garbage Pale Kids......

#4 1 year ago

It's a stereotypical image of an African-descent child. Shouldn't have been used, IMO.

It was meant to be like that.

No doubt! I've seen all kinds of freaky people at amusement parks. Check out that strung out lady in the front of the rollercoaster on Cyclone for example

If this triggers you, you should just sell it. Jesus

To be fair everyone on the backglass looks weird.

Yup, racial stereotyping for sure. Probably not a lot of African Americans working the art department at Williams. Just guessing.

#11 1 year ago

I had a Comet for a while and when that was pointed out to me as a bad and stereotypical image I had to agree. Great game, but I sure do wish they didn't use that image. Like KloggMonkey said everyone on that back glass does look weird, but any time you are making excuses for something there is probably something going on.

If you nave a problem with the artwork on a 30 year old pinball machine or even a 100 year old machine, then maybe it's best to stick with buying only new machines that are as politically correct as you are.

#13 1 year ago

You know Python probably was laughing about it, expecting it to get flagged by his bosses.

When the bosses accepted it, he probably shrugged and thought it was too late to change it without getting fired.

#14 1 year ago

I'm sure Williams was not happy that John Belushi was on the backglass either, but again, the bosses did not catch it.

Yeah, let's just stick with good old wholesome values in our rollercoaster riding pinball art.

That’s weird. I didn’t think there could be that much a mistake. Wonder why they made it that way.

80's art was the best!

Pinball artists were always trying to sneak funny stuff in.

The higher ups would always scour the art looking for stuff to make them remove.

Back in the 50/60's they would try to see how many cock&balls they could put in a design.

They would try to put their girlfriend's name into the shading.

They would try and put Hitler in the crowd...

What’s the guy in green shirt looking at?

Rest assured, we all see them. Built well in those days.

I've always kind of wondered what the girl in the purple shirt is doing with her hand.

Either way this is off the backglass of Williams Magic Clock from 1960. A game you may not see every day. But I do.

She’s holding onto a type of rod

so many games have non-PC art
removing them all would mean getting rid of 90% of our (classic) games

#27 1 year ago
Quoted from PinRob:

What’s the guy in green shirt looking at?

When you were 9 or 10 he was looking to make sure his girlfriend has a good grip on the lock bar.

When you were 13 and older, you know he is only looking at her... ummm.., future nursing abilities.

Treat it the same way as your typical Queensland racist.

An anachronistic relic that should no longer occupy any prominent place or position of influence in modern society.

if you want someone to dispose of that White Water (the girl is the only one NOT wearing a life jacket), or that EATPM, just call me

Equating imagery which promotes racial intolerance with water safety shows an appalling lack of perspective.

OK
treating women as merely sex objects is (almost) as bad as treating people as less than human due to the color of their skin

Finally a genuine public display of the PBP which is reflective of the attitudes of the person who sends me private correspondence.

I miss the eighties. Before the world got a giant stick up its ass.

I've recently saw three or four black athletes with that hair style!

The 80s sucked.

The worst music ever, the worst fashion, AIDS, the ray-guns, the first generation that would not do better than it's parents, wallpaper boarders.......

If I ever pickup a comet I always wanted to edit out the ice cream cone out of the kids hand and add puke coming from the kids mouth.

About the only redemptive thing that came out of the 80s was the sequel to Phantasm, and even that wasn't as good as the original.

I could pull four more snippets from the 80s out. Still doesn't mean it wasn't the worst decade ever. Because it was!

Worst part about it was all those snotty spoiled kids and their parents that didn't give a shit or teach them any manners.

Quoted from o-din:

Same could be said with today's Tide pod eating kids. The 80s wasn't that bad at all.

#47 1 year ago

Is that good stuff?

I got to live thru the 70s so what can I say? If you didn't, then you will never know.

I went thru the 80s , and a lot happened, but that's when they traded freedom for material goods. I actually enjoyed the 90s more as we took back some of that freedom.

#48 1 year ago

For a few glorious months in the 70s, people's biggest ambition was to get one of these. I didn't have that much ambition though.

Unknown (resized).jpg

But yeah, 80s, worst decade since I've been alive.

We haven’t seen the worst decade yet....

True as disaster is sure to happen. But how did it ever go from the Bicentennial, the biggest, longest party in our country's history, to a bunch of suited, uptight yuppies running the place a few years later? I'm just glad that's all behind us now.
