I have noticed this as well. My theory is that since every ramp has been done before the only way to have a "new" ramp is simply making the ramps more elaborate ( sort of like a thirty year old crazy straw competition) designers probably figure if it makes it up there most of the time, go with it. Every game I can think of either has ramp problems, or bland Ramps. Metallica and iron man are the best examples of this, the ramps work almost flawlessly every time but could be considered "lame" from a design or gameplay stance. TWD has amazing looking ramps that are obnoxious to try and make and in my opinion don't contribute at all to gameplay. Then there's games like stern Star Trek, where one ramp is standard and too easy (left) another is made ununecessarily difficult by a single curve (right) and the third is just a plain ole headache.
