Saw a great house today but the finished basement height is 76 inches. What's the lowest height you'd accept for a gameroom?

this height is at the lowest limit for a stern game , most measure between 75 and 76 in , with no toppers . that's cutting a little too close . so would say no to 76 in ceilings

I'm 6'4, that's 76 inches. I just leaned up against my F-14 backboard, it's about 1 inch taller than me....not counting the topper!

If you lowered the levelers and removed the topper, it would just fit.

    Too low!

And don't forget, you want to be able to lift the playfield up to work on it... I was okay with being topperless in my old basement but what a PITA when I needed to work on Stargate, the pf hit the ceiling so I had to prop it instead of just tipping it back.

This is an old thread to revive but just encountered this situation while looking at a new house. The basement ceiling height in 2/3 of the finished basement is 77", some of my games are at 77" tall. Also, if you want to flip a playfield up to work on it then forget about it.

I have two Sterns in the shorter part of my basement which is a hair under 77". You can just barely bring the heads up or down (if I remember right they scrape/push the tiles). You cannot flip the playfields all the way against the backboxes, which can be a pain. If I need to do any major surgery, I need to remove the back legs and bring the whole machine down a bit on my lift table. It's a pain, but it works. I had a DE Jurassic Park and was unable to put it on that side of the basement.

The other side of the basement is only slightly higher...79"-80" or so (uneven floors and worse uneven drop ceiling). I can at least lift the playfields in most places...I usually scrape the ceiling tiles and sometimes have to pop them up. That old DE JP fit but the flasher domes on top of the head literally rested on the ceiling!

Don't forget about imperfections in the flooring.

The pin might fit but with the front feet at minimum you might not be able to the raise the back levelers enough to get the playfield to 6.5.
