I just took a look at a Street Fighter II project. It was passed onto me from a local arcade operator.
The game doesn’t work, only the GI lights up and there is a loud ground-hum from the speaker. There is a relay clicking under the playfield and the game has lots of rust on the ramps, wireforms and side rails. Playfield has some wear and is dirty, needs a complete deep shop out.
Game has mouse shit all over it, and sitting next to the game with the coin box out was a HUGE rats nest. The manual was shredded as was other paper documents. Broken glass and other pieces under the playfield as well as a sticker from a local arcade leads me to believe the game has been routed, although the seller insists his family bought it new back in 1993. The boards in the back are actually decent but still the game does not even light into attract mode.
Game is kept in an unfinished basement garage that experiences some temp changes but is heated. Seller is asking $2,000 and I have given the realistic offer of $500-$700 and explained the kind of work and issues with this game.
I told him I’d get him offers from real collectors based on an honest state of the game.
Apparently there is some Facebook person offering his $2000 even though it doesn’t work. I am certain this person will not actually give him that when they see the game in person.
Help me out here Pinside, what would you pay?
