I thought I’d start this tread up with a question of my own .The curse got me in March this year now I’m looking for my second.A friend has a Metallica pro he doesn’t use and I’m looking into buying it but it is completely standard (no LED’s ,power coat ,nothing done)with 4600 plays on it .Im completely aware of the time and money needed to clean this up and modernize but I’m looking for any input into how much I should offer .Its one I would keep awile and this is the kinda project I’m looking for to teach myself .Not looking to make $ but don’t want to lose a bunch .I was thinking 3800-4000 then putting 1000 into it does that make sense as a purchase price also how much does the high plays come into resale? Thanks for any input and by all means use this tread I think it will help a lot of pinsiders out !

I’m new to this I just thought that was real high plays I think it was in a bar .Hes second owner .What would be a ballpark price that fits as he’s a friend I’m looking for a win/win.

Quoted from DK:

What makes it a project?

I just meant project as in LED’s,powercoat (I have a friends shop I can use)color dmd and a few mods. All I’ve seen for sale had some work done to it I’ve never seen one in its birthday suit.

Thanks a bunch guys this helps a lot.I have a lot to learn but I’m real handy with all trades I’ll be fine .My biggest concern was not a one sided deal I want both of us happy.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Just to be clear - you don’t HAVE to do that. Game looks fine and plays fine. Every dollar you put into this game to “mod” it you will lose money on when you sell it. Fair warning!

Thanks that makes sense .

Quoted from freeplay3:

I agree with everyone else. If you got this for 4k and did a few things like powdercoat, sideblades, LEDs, and color dmd, you will be a few hundred under the 5k mark. Plus you get to do the work yourself(that's the fun part.) You could probably find a modded Metallica in the low 5s if you don't want to do the work.
Personally, I would scoop this up, give it a shop and LEDs and flip it for mid 4s and make about 400 bucks.

No I like doing the work myself on anything .Your right it’s great satisfaction. How long ballpark does it take to replace with Leds?

Quoted from Timfenske11:

A sign of a good deal is if both side leave a little angry rather than happy!

Lmao

I started finishing my basement in March when the C-19 hit and I was looking for toys to put down there I hadn’t played pinball in 20 years then it happened .I watched some game trailers and before I knew it I drove 2 hours to Milwaukee to pick up my first ,WOZRR. Now I need more lmao.I love this sport haven’t been this happy in a long ass time !!I’m taking all kinds of side work to fund 4 machines I made room for .The hunt is what keeps me going.Anyway back to topic so is the pinside value range pretty accurate to follow then just +/- on work needed or work done ?i know there’s more involved I’m just trying to get the feel for what to pay .BTW if anyone is ever in the Fort Wayne IN area I highly suggest to stopping at wizard world I took my boys there stayed 4 hrs was great!!!!

$40 lasted 4 hours as most games were set at 5 balls n $2 got you 3 plays .

#22 3 years ago
Quoted from Fezmid:

$4k is a steal - never seen one that low on Pinside. If you want "fair," you're looking more like $4500. Check out the Pinside marketplace -- it's been awhile since once was listed at only $4k.
That said, if your friend is happy with $4k, and you're happy with 4k, what do you need us to say anything for?

I’ve been engulfed in this lmao but just thought machines with high plays made a big difference.Everything I look at says low plays like 5 year old machines w 200-300 plays like the guy that buys a classic car and it sits under a cover in garage most the year .

Quoted from freeplay3:

Honestly, I been seeing games with 10k+ games and they feel great when you play them. I was checking out a GoT premium that had 13k plays. It played much nicer then mine with 1k plays. I had an ironman with almost $10k on the audits and it played fast. Much like the wms games, once they get broke in they play better.

That clears things up.I just have pinside for info everyone I know is like Pinball? Do they still make those? I’m gonna call him now hopefully we get a deal done he never said what he wanted for it wish me luck

Didn’t work out. Were friends n we were a ways apart I just see pros for sale at 5k that have color dmd,LED’s,podercoating, upgrade speakers, whatever the combo of upgrades, to turn it into what I wanted out of it didn’t make sense over 4K.Anyway I’m on this, looks good for a deal done this week it’s the best of both worlds for me.Iron Maiden meets Egyptian art can’t beat it with a stick !!!!! I’ll be a happy man to bring this home I’ll lyk n hope this post goes on as I can see it helping people early in this sport!!Thanks again for the input.
