I sold him a WWFRR on craigs last Jan/Feb. Seemed like a nice guy - deal was easy and everything went smoothly. Haven't seen him since... did inquire about his WCS94, but the timing just isn't right.

What........?
Maverick is a great game - and the machine plays solid. If you feel like this project is something you could do, it's also a great way to get familiar with the game on a very detailed level................

Whoa! Yeah how about Gregg? I went back to his sale list after being unable to pm him and.............WoW..........like a dynamite keg blew-up.
Weird.
That's why anything I list for sale in the marketplace will not have a discussion thread. Too many assholes will make dumb comments and they're not even a potential buyer.

+1 on that
I'd love to see a DC/Baltimore metro "good guy" email chain... somewhere locals could float things first among collectors/players that are known to be good to go and reliable.

As I've dealt with mostly great folks (you being one of them), I completely agree on this.

Create A Facebook Group
Great idea, a Facebook group! Also, maybe that way we could plan some PinSide "meet n greets" - been thinking about doing something this spring, and asking people to bring a pin or two to plug-in out on my patio!!!

If your truthful and list things accordingly , for sale threads dont get out of hand . Its when people try to pass off not so nice pins for collector condition prices lol. Also if someone mentions sonething in your ad its best to just not say anything and especially dont go off on everybody on pinside lol. Your pin ads are always fine tho.
It takes two to tango...
People can post dumb things and try to defend it.. or they can just post and believe the reader will make their own decisions. Often it's just best to take the high road and let the detractors do their own thing...
But on this topic of collab, etc. I think the local collector community between VA and MD is quite strong.. and much deeper than most of us realized over the years. I have been brainstorming ways to get the collectors out and together.. for those who have no interest in the shows or leagues. The benefit would be for networking, parts swaps/sales, demos/exposures to games or mods you may not have seen, maybe even education for those who are interested in certain fix/mod/restore topics.. and possibly open houses for those that are interested. Even in the simplest idea.. imagine us having one of the Stern Launch Parties so people can come and see the latest title.. or what if there were some new significant mods to see, etc.
Many collectors love to have others over and enjoy sharing their collections with like minded people -- but they just don't want random internet joe showing up at their door. Having a 'collectors club' where people can associate and vet each other provides that filtering mechanism for people to establish a rapore with each other and get comfortable.
Personally I think the networking is the great part.. for as much as everyone is buying/selling.. having people you have had previous contact with and a level of trust really makes the experience so much easier.
Remove the keyboard.. get together.. and people tend to be far more compatible in person. While everyone may not be my best friend who I met in the hobby, I can't say I've really met people I say would be a deterrent.. and by far.. I've met a lot of people I wish we all were a stronger web together!

Untrue when I had a few MAME machines listed though. A few pricks were just going on and on about the game they made, etc and comparing and trying to break down my costs on each part. So I blocked them and re-listed the ad without comments and the machines sold in several days.

Im not sure about that kinda stuff lol.

Yup.. I'd love to view other folk's collections.. hell, I saw BigD's collection, before everything changed.
I only have one game (two if you count Nudge-It), and a few other small pieces, so I would welcome any visitor over - I just can't have a 'party' or large gathering, as most folks would be bored out of their minds. That will change, eventually, of course.
Of course, I technically don't live in MD *or* VA, so I'm out.

We count you east west virginians as close enough Heck, half of you seem to work in NoVA
Decided to not sell Maverick until I finish it. Spent a few hours on it today since I worked from home due to he impending snow doom. Cleaning up really nice swapping the ramp parts on to the new ramp is the only repair kind of work I have to do. Should be playtesting it tomorrow night.
Quoted from 2Kaulitz:I'm getting a AMH next month Is maverick one with the big dmd ?
So what do the 2 have to do with each other ? Lol

Man, I wish I was too. I have to work in the morning and the snow is falling at a pretty good clip now.

Yeah, I definitely agree. Being rather new to the hobby, I'm realizing how many serious folks there are near me but don't for one second feel comfortable insinuating myself into their circles. However, the few get-togethers I've gone to after reading about them on here have been really enjoyable. Like you said, I haven't met anyone who made me regret the acquaintance.
Quoted from billsfanmd:Shouldn't you guys be out shoveling . I'm in florida helping sick parent. No snow here
nah i make snow melt with my jedi powers
Maverick is cleaned, new rubber and LEDs. Tomorrow I need to remove and clean the drop targets - 4 damn banks of drops on this game! Damn.

No shoveling until sunday.
Here in the DMV we've been rocking a once-a-month house league where you rotate to another member's house every month and play. Great way to see other people's collections and a whole lot of fun! It's a pain when you have to drive to BFE but worth it in the end.

Thats what im trying to start up this way
I see some of you are talking about starting a Facebook group. There are already at least five pinball groups dedicated to East coast, Mid atlantic, DC/MD/VA/PA/NJ blah blah blah. They've been on Facebook forever. Just a heads up instead of creating a duplicate of a Facebook group that already exists

You've been saying that for awhile man. Git R' Done
Took me 7 years to finally get a league going. What finally worked was just declaring a league, picking a day and inviting friends. Turns out that everyone loves pinball.

Can u get sone people ? I have around 6-8 that will don it but only one has a decent collection. Well 2 including myself. So can we have it at your place and do u know anyone else local with pins?
I'll have my house as a location too. Always have 5-7 games here, plus jukebox, dart machine (dart league too?) and the touchgames.
I think we need to move this to its own topic, almost sounds like we need a sort of central location (hotel with meeting room) and people to bring pins. That way people can travel, stay the night, and meet and play.
Not sure if I'd be interested in moving a pin in and out of the house for a night though. I'd rather drive an hour to someone's house or have people come here. Plenty of nice hotels in this area plus the casino if anyone wanted to stay the night.
I have two heat pumps. One of my indoor units (air handler) went out Monday. So, the right side of my house has no heat. Also that's where my pins are. The heat being out did not stop me from playing last night. Got a fire going in the game room, borrowered a neighbors heat blower and played pinball til 3 am. Screw u snow, screw u.

What would you consider to be a decent collection? Decent in terms of quantity, quality? All but 5 of my machines are in storage for the move and two are completely disassembled, so my game room is an absolute disaster right now. I know other locals but they only own one maybe two machines each.
