My Gottlieb Flipper pool has been doing a few odd things lately, they maybe related. 1st, it doesn't allways carry 99 into a 100. l've checked the 9th position switch on the tens score reel unit, (all good), and 'N' relay. l found a broken switch blade in the 'N' relay armature and have replaced that but this has not changed the problem. 2nd l had notice that sometimes the tens score reel doesn't sit inline with the other reels. Any thoughts?, thanks in advance.

If you have taken apart the score reels to clean them, then you might have put it back together wrong. If you haven't taken them apart to clean them, then you need to do that

as to your second issue... a worn cog on the spindle. look at the teeth and see if they are still in good shape. Like the later reels there is a stop to prevent it from tuning backwards. But ultimately you need to find a doner and replace. and the 9s rollover... either contact on the reel or contact on the 10s relay. You may have a floating pad in the finger... crush with heavy needlenose to reseat pad.

Thanks for the input, all the score reels were cleaned a few years back. l strip and check the score reel.

I've had that issue caused for mechanical reasons - when the score reel moves from 9 to 0, there is the most pressure on the score reel switches. They're being deflected the most going from 9 to 0 and if there too much switch tension, they fight the score reel movement and it can hang up there.

Make sure everything is clean and moving freely first, and then I've had luck adjusting the tension on the switches so they don't "fight" the score reel armature movement so much.

Stripped and cleaned the 'tens' score reel, (on this game, the 10's works the hardest, multiple 10's to make 50). Found the long spring, (drive pawl spring) had broken at the top and had the spring had been modified , (see picture), this has been replaced with a spare. l decided to go with reduced switch tension on the 9th position and lock switches plus l found that the jamstop had a bit of movement so the cap screw has been tightened, (2nd picture). Its seems to be ok in with both problems now gone. Thanks again for suggestions and help.

Good deal. 99% of the time this kind of stuff boils down to "take it apart, have a look, clean it up and fix the broken stuff"
