It looks like something is missing on my Disco Fever back-box. The MPU is only secured at the top. Looks like there should be something to secure the lower part of that board. When I got it the MPU only had two screws - the driver board had no screws - it was just hanging by the interconnect. If I secure the driver with 4 screws do I need more than the two screws on the top of the MPU?

Thanks

Bob

I think there is something missing:

That metal piece sits behind the interconnect and has a channel for the MPU board to sit in. I'm pretty sure that Williams recommended removing this piece. If the MPU board is not properly seated in the channel, the metal piece can short out parts on the MPU board.

I just got done putting the MPU/Driver boards back into a Laser Cue System 7 backbox and you have to be exceptionally careful to be sure that the MPU board is properly in that channel.

That channel piece is designed to install each board individually. Place the MPU in the channel and screw it down, then press the driver onto the interconnect pins and screw it down. Really a bad design if you remove/install both boards assembled to save wear and tear on the interconnect.

If you install both boards assembled, then you don't need anything there. If you like to remove the driver board only, then you need some support when you press the driver board back onto the interconnect pins. I've used self-adhesive rubber bumpers from the hardware store and they work fine.

I don't think a metal bracket is a good idea because of shorting something. I was thinking a wood block but dothedoo's rubber bumpers is a better idea.

Thanks guys.
