Game barely hits the streets and people looking for the next game....wow!

    Why wouldn't we?

    #158 3 years ago

yeah, we are talking about thousands of dollars. If you intend to buy more than one in the next few months you better start saving if you are into a theme that might be next in line.

Love the fact that people here have some Inside information and might know what is coming down the line 3 pins ahead.

And the limited edition can be the SR -71 BlackBird. Of Course it would be designed by Steve Ritchie! Dual super charger ramps...

    Current titles are not LCD

Stern said their next game is LCD

This is why the next game is of interest

    The LCD

Plus the next game is always of interest

    I'm talking in circles

More that than the LCD. A lot of people don't really care about dmd or LCD as long the game is fun.

...Steve Ritchie is the best selling pinball designer.

I thought about that, but when I looked into it, I'd argue Krynski is the best selling pinball designer of all time (at least in terms of units sold) as he produced about 98% of EVERYTHING that left the Gottlieb pinball factory between 1965 and 1980. Looking at THOSE numbers, I'd say it's double what Steve put out, if not more.

You're right. Me watching a Baywatch vid mode isn't going to happen.

Jaws WILL happen or Gary's gonna need a restraining order for me.

Phone calls, emails, smoke signals. It's coming people.

Where is that picture from? That's pretty funny!

I'm hoping Deadpool gets a game after his next movie. A game based on an R rated movie would be awesome, been a long time.

oh never mind it is likely saturation!!!

Jurassic World? No thanks. We already have 2 mediocre pinball machines for this mediocre franchise.

Iron Maiden: No. A niche within a niche within a niche. Cool art, though.

Aerosmith: No way. Worse than Kiss. Dream on, Stern. I'm OUT.

Jaws: This could be interesting. Cool visuals, sound. Why not? I'm in.

Tron VE: No brainer. I just hope they use the original movie art, do lighted ramps and DP MB. Take my money! I think this will obvious affect the inflated prices of Tron LE, if done well.

LOTR VE: Sort of saturated with this franchise lately. No thanks.

Led Zeppelin: Definitely. Would be great music, good visuals, I'm in.

Beatles: #2 band of all time? Sure, why not?

Jimi Hendrix: could be interesting. Great music, art. Put me down for a maybe.

Archer: Yes!! Dream-theme, though I admit it's pretty niche. Would love to see Stern buy, improve, and manufacture Elwin's design.

I kind of agree, I guess I just like the dots. What DP did with TBL I really like. Thats an LCD isn't it? I will hold judgement until after it comes out. Will have to see how it looks and how it's integrated.

While I think lcd is the future I agree I don't want to see the same clips over and over would much rather have custom animations then the same old movie clips

I think GB is going to do so well they could just keep making them for a year and put the rest on hold

If you want to go by that logic, we can return to the early 1930's, where a hit game would sell 50,000 units. Add those designers numbers up...

Obviously, we're talking about the modern era.

Also, Ritchie is still alive and making games.

Also, Ritchie is still alive and making games.

If you're talking modern era, you can't include all of those monster titles Ritchie had in the 80s and 90s. The modern era would have to be as far as 2000 but probably closer due to the differences in complexity of code from the B/W pins. I would say the modern era started with LOTR with it's big ruleset in '03. It was also the year that most of the big name designers from B/W transitioned to Stern.

So if you're just talking Ritchie's Stern output, I doubt he's the best selling designer of the modern era. He's made 8 titles to Borg's 10 in this hypothetical modern era. Borg's top sellers include Iron Man, Tron, Metallica, and TWD. Ritchie's include ST, AC/DC, SM, and GOT.

Sorry I love these type of discussions.

You are arbitrarily making up dates to satisfy your argument. You can't just pull the year 2000 or LOTR out of your keishter.

The modern era would Solid State game. Late 70's to present.

Not sure what the next title is going to be. But if Stern's next pin is going to have an LCD, don't expect a great theme. Expect them to put it on a mediocre theme. An lcd is going to drive the sales of that pin. How many more pins would they sell with an LCD on Ghostbusters? Not that many. Put an LCD on pin like a Mustang and how many more would they sell. Just my opinion.

So you're saying the next game will be called "Hubris"?

I don't think an LCD will give that big a bump to sales if the theme stinks or the gameplay stinks. Theme gets you in the door, gameplay keeps you there. An LCD is a nice feature, but I'm not dropping 5 - 8k just because the screen changed. Drop it in a game like Mustang and... Well you have Mustang.
