This popped up on FB today and it caused quite the "discussion" Seller was asking close to 6k because Ebay...but has since graciously lowered the price to $5300 due to the coin door. What would you pay?

$3200-3500 would be my guess.

EDIT: nevermind. WTF is up with that coin door? I'd pass on that hack job myself

#3 2 years ago

Sorry, man, but I've never understood how someone can put a price on a game without seeing detailed pics of the inside of the cabinet and underside of the playfield.

#4 2 years ago

That coin door made me throw up a little bit.

With the available information, $200. Not enough information to make an accurate assessment of value.

#8 2 years ago

Since the owner didn't have a clue to its' value from the start - I wouldn't think of making an offer without thoroughly looking it over. Who knows what else has been cobbled together - that the owner might not even be aware of.

When I saw the ad a few days ago, my first thought was someone uninformed of value, paid too much and wants to sell. This could get ugly quick.

#9 2 years ago

Am I the only one that thinks the coin door looks kinda neat?

#10 2 years ago

Game is in good condition other than the coindoor , rudy needs rebuilt and few targets need replaced for the correct ones.. Obviously need more info but id say around 3k easily . Heck coinopwarehouse sells ones that dont boot, completely faded with playfield issues for 3k very quickly. Also some rough condition ones here on pinside sell quickly for 3k also.

#11 2 years ago

Seems odd to me that it would say factory settings restored in their picture unless they meant to show that they rest the factory settings for some reason. I would think it is more of a battery damage issue and they took a picture as soon as they started it up.

#12 2 years ago

I would say its worth 3k but if the seller is already asking 6k its going to be allot of effort to convince them what its actually worth.

#13 2 years ago

Theres just too many things that scream stay away on this to offer anything more than 2k myself. The PF looks to be in pretty good shape, but the pictures aren't clear enough, it could easily have wear around inserts or other harder to detect wear. It clearly has not been cleaned or shopped in ages. Who knows what kind of condition the boards are in! I'm highly afraid of bad battery damage. The coin door "mod" is supposedly to turn the game to free play, which seems to be about the dumbest way possible to achieve free play.

The owner is really defensive about it, as she truly believes its worth top dollar because thats what some really nice ones are listed at on ebay

I see ones with more info and in better shape listed in the 3k range all the time. I think you'd be crazy to pay 3k for this hack job, and we still have no info on the boards or hi res pictures of the PF.

There are no batteries in it....

#17 2 years ago

Its still listed on Craigslist at $6400 greenbay.craigslist.org link
Like the bit in the description about RARE.

I posted on facebook that I thought this would be a difficult sale at $2500. I haven't seen anything that would change my view. The coin door boggles my mind as one can only guess at what other hacks may be present.

Like many, the pin does appear to be in very good condition.
The photos are very low detail. Certainly, there could be insert wear or other wear. The boards could be cobbled up. And we all know Funhouse pretty much needs to be played in person to determine if Rudy is properly working.

My take on it is this. Seller has it in there mind this pinball is worth XXX dollars, because they see others LISTED on Ebay for big $$$. Trying to talk this person down to a reasonable price is almost certainly going to be an exercise in futility.

It says FACBORY SETTINGS TOTRESTORED, which is not a normal message. The display is getting multiple signals and trying to display them at the same time.
Alkaline damage is a good possibility.

Tell her to take it and be ecstatic that she got an extra $1000 for it.

That door is hilarious, but an easy fix I'd be more concerned about the clock area for wear. $2000ish

Yeah you are the only one.

#26 2 years ago

Door is an easy fix if they didn't hack the cabinet up putting it in. 100 dollar fix there.

The cut wiring and display issues are more concerning. Chances are this has other hacks in it. The pictures are pretty useless, this baby could be badly planked, no way to tell.

#27 2 years ago
Quoted from Haymaker:

When someone uses this tactic on me, I politely tell them that's fine and that I'd take that offer. I then make sure they have my contact information and know I'm interested.

As others have stated, the seller is unreasonable. Walk away and make sure they have your contact info. Maybe check back in a month or so and see if it is sold. You aren't going to talk sense into them at this point when they are 2x the market rate for the game. Most likely they'll still have the game a few weeks from now. If they don't, at least you were the sucker that overpaid for it.

All that being said, based on what I can see it is worth more than $2k. I paid more than $2k for one in worse shape back in 2012.

#28 2 years ago

To be clear I am not interested in buying this game myself. There's way too many red flags with this particular game telling me to stay away. She did post better playfield pictures and the PF does appear to be in pretty decent shape.

#29 2 years ago

I love how people say that game is worth $2000 cause of some cut wires and a missing coin door. Lol. Dung is right it would cost about $100 to fix the door and honestly not a lot of time. The wiring isn't that complicated either. If you can't read a schematic at this point in the game you are either made of money or getting ready to learn how to fix one. All the snakes would cut each other's throats over it at $2000. It would be gone in 15 minutes with no pictures for $2000. There would be a whole new set of Craigslist war ads posted bad mouthing the person that offered 2300 to buy it out from under someone else lol

That's exactly what I was thinking. Some joker earlier in the thread said "$200" LMFAO.

#31 2 years ago

I agree with the last few guys. The coin door is an easy fix. The right side of the cabinet and front appears unfaded but who knows what other side and sides of head look like. Playfields main portion is mylared with bubbles over some of the inserts(typical). Blue area outside of the mylar has the typical darkening/fading/whatever you want to call it. However I dont see wear at the typical wear spots(steps drop, kickout hole, left outlane drop, top of right outlanes, shooterlane wear).

I think this is worth more than $2k. I would say $2500 would be a fair value.

#32 2 years ago

When a seller things their stuff is worth a fortune, I usually take a pass, especially if it's in this kind of shape.

Valid point, but I am more concerned if somebody had to add in this custom "coin door" for a free play button, what other things have been cobbled together? Its obvious the game will need to be torn down and given a lot of love even in the best case scenario. For me, that doesn't make it a $3000-4000 game since I see ones that are in nice shape freshly shopped ready to play in that price range all the time. Would I pay $2000 for it? Absolutley. $2500...maybe but i'd be taking a really hard look at everything and still be pretty apprehensive. Thats just me though, maybe somebody else would be more willing to risk it. At 3k its a pass for sure, even if I knew it could clean up nice. Just too much work to justify the price at that point. $3800 like the seller is claiming was offered to her, not a snowballs chance in hell!!

#34 2 years ago

Is that a skypilot restoration?

If you're lucky they replaced the coin box with a cookie jar!

They do, but you'll need your own staple gun to install them

I would maybe pay $2,500, only because that coin door is hilarious. But, that may be over priced...

#41 2 years ago

In Rumsfeldian: as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.....so $2k tops.

Coin door screams game was not maintained properly imo. Still, it's a Funhouse and players go for $3000-$3500.

Ummm....have you seen the danish oil applied to that bad boy? The classic patina on it?
Guys it's a trapdoor on a game with a trapdoor...say hello to the mod of 2017.

#45 2 years ago

Tons more pics were posted of it... boards look great and left side looks great also . Only thing it needs cosmetic is a coindoor. Playfield is way above average also and looks pretty nice .

Mines a high end restore and i cld careless about what something else is worth. The game listed is actually very nice overall and at 3k it wld be a decent deal imo. Worn out faded fh sell on here for that latley.

#47 2 years ago

The price of my FH is going up if this one is 3k deal! Sweeeeeeeet!

#48 2 years ago

WTF??? That coin door has my vote for craziest mod / manipulation to a game so far in 2017. The fact that somebody took the time to remove the coin door molding, cut wood, install a hinge, install a credit button, drill and install a coin door lock, and remount the control bracket and buttons is absolutely ridiculous. And where is the original coin door...perhaps they bought it without one at all with the controls just dangling there? Hopefully they didn't drill or manipulate the front of the cab. Nuts.

I agree with everyone else...probably a ton of hacks, and God knows what else. I would want to see the game and examine it thoroughly in person before shelling out any more than $2k for it. On a positive note, there may be some weed stashed inside it somewhere, because whoever made that coin door was clearly smoking something. The fact that the owner thinks it's worth $6k would be the bigger and complicated hurdle.

If anybody buys this, send me the coin door and a picture of the front of the game before you remove it for my eventual pin museum. I'll pay for shipping.

They are LISTED on here for that much sure. But don't seem to be selling for that. Looking at recent for sale threads, most don't even have any replies to the thread, actually the only reply I saw on a recent FS thread was from you saying it was a great deal.

If you go under the archives there are a bunch that have sold for 2700-5k depending on condition. I really cld careless as i just bought mine and mines on a whole other level (total restore) . Just saying the one this thread is about is overall pretty nice for a fh....but that coindoor is hard to look past for many...but sld be a easy fix for the buyer.
