I actually had the same exact situation happen. The guy had questions about the pin because he was new to the hobby. Instead of posting a thread about it on pinside, I helped the guy out...

I completely agree. I wouldn't be in this hobby if it wasn't for the nice people on Pinside and my local community that have helped me along the way. When I started out a local guy drove about an hour to help me out and he asked for no compensation in return. I try my best to pay it forward and help newcomers out whenever I can. But hey I guess that just me.
