Everyone is going to recommend different games for different reasons. Best thing to do is get play time on these games to figure out which you prefer personally. Other best thing to do is meet people locally and see if they are selling anything. Paying high prices plus shipping is going to eat up your budget. It's also better to check out a game in person to determine condition and if any issues. Maintenance is usually not an issue. Newer games will of course require less work but more expensive. Games like STTNG will probably need more maintenance but finding parts should not be an issue. Repairs can be intimidating at first but most fixes are not too difficult.
