What would cause my Demolition Man to suddenly die and restart itself?

Whenever I start a new game of Demolition Man, the ball ejects and fires onto the playfield, but a second later the game dies and goes dark. Then as soon as the ball drains, the game restarts itself. Any ideas on a cause? A few weeks ago I was in the middle of a game and it died suddenly.
