swampfire brought up “The Goonies”! I hope that is the next pin that comes out! One of my favourite movies, and I think a favourite for every 80’s kid!

Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Deeproot has the license so 2035 if at all unfortunately

I just looked up Deeproot they seem to want us to design what we think would sell.

#18161 2 years ago
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:

Correct! You can literally leverage their manufacturing expertise by designing a game and having them make and sell it for most of the profits.
Perhaps this is the best way forward for the community to get their dream themes done the way they want it? Interesting idea that could be a game changer.
More info at: https://deeprootpinball.com/community/homebrew

It said they need a certain amount of people guaranteed to buy the design before they will produce it. You also basically need to design every aspect of it. Including a white wood model.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

False advertising recently with LZ also. Stern marketing said game is meant to feel like you are going to the LZ concert from 1970’s. Sorry, the game feels nothing like it. Where’s the ticket scalping mode? LSD experience? Plumes of marijuana? Topless groupies? Encore mode? Trash the venue mode? There is no linkage between the game and the marketing spin on LZ, and now there is no connection with Mando marketing and the pin. The game developer is the one who needs to straighten this out.

Considering you are in Atlanta, just put the machine on your front porch! I’ve been once and I think the concert experience is basically all around you! “Atlanta where the players play”! Lol

A Will Ferrel compellation machine....you pick the theme...Step brothers, T-Nights , ELF- etc etc.....All XXX rated. HAHA

Yes! That machine would be a blast for sure!

#18384 2 years ago
Quoted from PBFan:

I am so glad many of you don’t work for a pinball manufacturing company. Then again it wouldn’t be very long because it would be bankrupt. LOL. Fun stuff to read though. Keep on posting your dreams as it makes for some interesting reading.

You and I both know our group would be rich!!! We just invented the next stern pin! Guaranteed to sell world wide! Never mind Mandalorian. The Will Farrell machine now with sex Panther should be pre sold out next week!
The LE will include an oversized Anchorman Will Farrell WITH moving arms!
The X rated LE won’t be available until next year unfortunately...

#18395 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:OMG, no Will Ferrell movies you guys. I’ve seen that guy in his white underpants enough for 10 lifetimes.

Queen would slap the crap out of any band! That is a statement that EVERYONE can agree with!!

#18539 2 years ago
Quoted from Wolfanoz:

An 80's themed / hits pin wouldn't be a bad idea either. A ton to work with nostalgia-wise and the hip hop, rock, pop areas.

I think that would sell really fast!

#18540 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Monsters of Rock tour metal pin based on the 80's arena tour to consolidate a bunch of great groups that would never get their own pin.

Casuals don’t pay attention to even the most basic instructions. For example, time and time again
Visual Queue: PF goes dark, DMD displays arrows pointing up and instructs player to use flippers to stop the spider.
Audio Queue: “Look up! Stop the spider!”
You know what they do? Don’t look up, stare at the PF, they think the game broke, and start mashing the flippers. There is no saving these people.

It’s not really about “Casuals” or “newbies”. It’s about people who don’t want to pay attention to the topic they are involved in. People in general don’t want to learn about whatever topic they are doing. They pretty much just want to be spoon fed the easiest way to do it. Reading the play rules or even rules in life are too much for them. You can see the same people in regular life doing the same things. Whatever product they buy or use isn’t maintained or isn’t working the way it’s supposed to is “broken”. It’s always everyone else’s fault.

What else could be in the skunkworks at Stern? I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen any more 80s/90s nostalgia titles coming down.
Goonies, Gremlins, Beetlejuice

I was told Stern doesn’t have the rights to Goonies. That is a game If done right would be awesome for Gen Xers!!!

I don’t want to get too ahead of the horse here but I looked really hard at the Stern photos from today’s FB post. The line is working on the Mandalorian but the last cart has a different game on it. #23643 2 years ago
Quoted from kool1:

Probably decent for an operator in the right place but I suspect very few 40 and 50 year old guys would ever look at it.

It depends on the game itself. We can speculate all day long on playability of any game.
I personally love the idea of having a “Goonies” pinball machine! I would probably put down the deposit for any model available. The problem with that is I truly don’t know how it would play.
I’ve never really played a Pokémon game. My kids all play all the time, if I were watching them play a Pokémon pin I would probably throw a loonie or three to play it.
I know I wouldn’t buy it until I have played it though.

Quoted from skink91:

I think we may all have a bit different views on what constitutes a “children’s theme” these days… I mean AIQ and TMNT are what?

Quoted from kool1:

55 years old - tragic for sure.

I honestly can't see any children's themes coming to Stern and I think the license for Nintendo properties is too pricey and hard to get.

Spider-Man, Hot Wheels, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, all the pinball themes are Child themed. Just depends on the generation they are based on. This is a hobby of adults that are trying to relive some of our best times! Riding our bikes to the nearest arcade/pool hall/mall with our buddies having a great time!

#25195 2 years ago
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:

Ummm…Stranger Things is most definitely NOT for children. Ya’ll Canadians are running wild with the bologna today haha.

My kids LOVE it! They are 10,12 & 15. The perfect age for dropping money in pinball machines! They have been watching it since it came out! Their grade school actually has a dress code with no Stranger Things shirts. It is a game meant for you to make money on.

#25196 2 years ago
Quoted from BasementFacts:

"It's true. This man has no dick."
"We came, we saw, we kicked its ass." (the alt of this is in the pin: "We came, we saw, we got our asses kicked.")
But maybe you're right. Maybe they are babies' toys. (BTTF let's go!)

Only because you introduced him to them. No way he's into those IPs 100% of his own discovery. But Marvel of course is still marketed to children.

That generation watched Ghostbusters the movies, and the animated TV show. Again the pinball machines represent the generation that enjoyed those machines.
The Ghostbusters toys that came out after the movies weren’t meant for adults were they? Pinball machines are just glorified toys we play! They are great fun!

#25405 2 years ago

To be honest with you, I’m very surprised there aren’t WAY more home brew pinball machines coming form the members on Pinside. The skills, ability, and knowledge is astounding. Pinside could create some of the worlds greatest pins.

Quoted from chad:Metallica started as a retheme/homebrew pin and Stern ran with it.
Stern allegedly has Jaws License and perhaps the Jaws Retheme/ Homebrew will help push it into a potential production.
If they do it in a Classic likeness as they did with Jurassic Park, could be a hit.

Quoted from crujones4life:

Don't know that I was able to will it into existence, but I think we see it by January 2023. Was just sharing the popular opinion of Pinside with this thread.

If you don’t do it Stern won’t know!

#25725 2 years ago

I would much rather a “GOONIES”! BTTF is my second choice! 80’s were the best!

Quoted from beelzeboob:

I'm talking more about the constant BTTF posts almost every day. I did a search to see if I was wrong. Nope. 332 posts in this thread by you dating back over a year, and a good 75% of them or more are about BTTF.
Again...I want BTTF just as badly as you do (as do many others here), but I don't think the constant posting by one Pinsider is going to sway Stern's decision on whether or not to make it.

#25727 2 years ago

if they do make a BTTF I would miss seeing your posts about it! Even when it’s out, you need to post pictures randomly!

Quoted from crujones4life:

Goonies would be awesome but would absolutely have to have Good Enough by Cyndi Lauper.

#25735 2 years ago

A Peanuts pin would actually be pretty good! The red Barron would have to be in there though!

Quoted from crujones4life:

Hey guys if my BTTF posts are really bothering you that much just use the ignore feature. Problem solved. Cause I ain't stopping till BTTF gets released! On a side note...I would love a Peanuts pin!

#26157 2 years ago

An escape room game would be really cool! Great idea!

Quoted from Markharris2000:Something SteamPunk or industrial themed? Or perhaps a Escape Room kind of game?

#26203 2 years ago

Not too many pins are “adult” themed.

#26244 2 years ago

I usually agree with what you say… (normally keep my mouth shut! Downvotes!) I think Dukes of hazzard and a couple others are great ideas if they are done right!

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:

Wow…I’m in for…not a single one of those. Just goes to show you how varied our tastes are I suppose. Actually, I’d be in for Tom and Jerry. Or even better… Itchy and Scratchy.

Edit - I never see it mentioned but I would love a Peanuts pin!
Double Edit - A new Popeye would be sweet too!

I’ve seen Peanuts mentioned before. I think it would have worked great when the movie came out.

#26246 2 years ago

I think the Addams family remake, Billy Maddison remake from the last show are great ideas.

#26250 2 years ago

I’m in my mid 40’s think most of those are really weird ideas. 80’s - 90’s era pins should definitely be what they are looking to do though.

Quoted from PinMonk:E.T. 40th is this year. I wonder why this hasn't been done yet? Seems like a slam dunk for the nostalgia market.

#26506 2 years ago

I wish you would share your true feelings! Lol

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Mando looks like goddamn coloring book art replete with stock crayola colors from the budget 10 set haha. It’s equally as bad as Star Wars…which looks the same. It is lowest common denominator illustration at best. At worst, it’s clown s#it. The fact that this guy can be mentioned in the same breath as Franchi is bonkers.

#26769 1 year ago

Completely agree! Plus having the Flagg in the game would make up for not having it as a kid!

Quoted from JToeps:

Into this but would rather have GI Joe or G1 Transformers. Optimus Prime prices are about to breach 2k for the auto-transforming Truck + Trailer combo. That's definitely pin territory. Also the USS Flagg upper playfield would be sweeeeeet.
[quoted image]

#26879 1 year ago
Quoted from Pin_Fandango:

In Canada it is not worth very much. Different markets.

I want one pretty badly! Haven’t seen one go cheaply! I don’t understand why you say that?

#26891 1 year ago

I completely agree!

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:I will never understand the obsession with Tron in here. The films, The arcade game the pin…meh, who cares?

#26981 1 year ago

I’ve said it before, yes most machines are kids titles! That’s why we buy them to re live and share with our kids our youth!

Quoted from Ty-Arnold:Why does everyone want little kid titles? Are we 12?

#26992 1 year ago

100% true!

Quoted from petrieslastword:

I can tell you I have at least half a dozen friends that would likely look at an HP pin as the first one they would ever buy for themselves for their home. There's not a single theme that can come close for a certain age group.

That would make a very fun game!Great ideas for sure!

Quoted from vikingerik:He-man / Masters of the Universe could absolutely be done amazingly. Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain need to be on the playfield. Snake Mountain as a big bash toy in the middle. Grayskull in the top left, positioned so that a full plunge will cross the playfield and enter its mouth; you start modes and lock balls here, and can pick one of those at ball start like STTNG. There's also a ramp at the far left leading up to Grayskull's parapet, representing the Sorceress in her throne room. Between Grayskull and Snake Mountain is a saucer or scoop, to transform Adam into He-man for 2x scoring; an Adam figure rotates out of view to be replaced by He-man. Other shots can be the other heroes, collect them for wizard modes like Avengers. It could have character selection like Star Wars and TMNT - play as Adam, Teela, Man-at-Arms, or Orko. Dear god somebody make this and take my money!

I agree, but I still hope they do. I want one pretty badly!

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:For the amount of STH games Stern COULD produce (few due to parts shortages, number of lines, oncoming cornerstones and CGC contract builds) renewing the license would just not make sense. They would actually lose money….like a lot of money.

#27636 1 year ago

Especially when other new machines are still so wanted. They should have put out more of those titles.

Quoted from PinMonk:Mando was pretty widely available still before they made more, which was why it was a head-scratcher that they did.

#27769 1 year ago

That is a great idea!

Quoted from Merendino:

My apologies if this has been mentioned already.
What if there was a playfield that had nearly invisible ink under the faces/building on a play field but when subjected to UV light it would make those inks glow, thus changing/revealing hidden details not seen otherwise? (I was thinking of something similar to the UV glow on ST)

#28399 1 year ago

I feel like they look too big. I also want a little more detail in them. I might get the back alley ones depending upon how much the train guys charge. I also bought a different train. Stole the idea from the Spider-Man thread.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

You don’t like the ones back alley does? I have a set on my BSM and really like them. You have to remove them to lift playfield but mine also use Velcro to hold in place. The biggest detriment are the roof is not detailed out too interesting. They made a custom set for me with damaged windows and roof stuff. In worst case they are already made to fit and they can be modified further. Can’t get to it to take a pic.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this?! Completely out of left field but “Back To The Future!”

Hahaha!

Quoted from PinballManiac40:Nope. First time BTTF was mentioned. It is the first time mentioned today, if that counts.

I feel like piling on like Michael Bushemi not good a cutting out certain pieces!

Quoted from Ecw0930:

Dude you sir have not said one constructive thing in ANY of these forums.
And now you're judging me ? Talk about lack of imagination.
Just bc you fan boy things and then bash everything else doesn't put you in any type of position. Like at all.
You're a troll with a bad attitude and horrible lack of speaking cordially. I'm not some touchy wimp either. It's amusing to me more than anything bc you literally put yourself out there and people will even tell you how dumb and stupid you sound, downvote your posts, yet you don't seem to ever stop.
I don't even mind if you troll now, for amusement purposes. You make me chuckle.

They are on pinside as well! I hope that a few donate the machines they win right back for a kid in a hospital!

Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

As an aside, check out Project Pinball if you are not familiary. They put pinball machines in children's hospitals. They also raffle off machines to raise money. Check them out! (note... I'm not affiliated with them in any way... it's just a good cause). https://projectpinball.org/

You forget most of these guys are keyboard commandos! I doubt very highly that they have had a conversation in real life!

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Boy are my feelings hurt guys. Very effective bullying going on here. Funny to think that if we were all hanging out in real life we’d probably just be having a normal conversation and expressing opinions like adults.

Wow Peaches! You seem upset by it?!?

Quoted from Pinplayer1967:We can only hope not. That’s terrible

#29001 1 year ago

I agree!

Quoted from PinStalker:Terrible table..... but look at those graphics right off an 80's blister pack!!! That would be soooooo good!!
Easy dream theme for me.
GI Joe (season 1)
Transformers (g1)
Master of the Universe (season 1)
That would be the ultimate trifecta.
Some real 80's nostalgia pins.

Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Would you pay $7k for a Bally Playboy retheme? I would hope not.

I was talking about the theme! I doubt that stern would make a playboy retheme! I would assume they would put a little spin on a machine in 2022!

Until you donate to pinside your opinion doesn’t really matter! The rest of us are having a conversation!

Quoted from Pinplayer1967:

That layout looks like a 10 year old designed it. I wouldn’t pay $1,000 for it delivered.

Pretty much! The rest of us donate so you can enjoy something for free! Fall off your wallet and contribute! Maybe then we will care about what you have to say!

Quoted from Pinplayer1967:Is this what everyone pays for? Lol

Quite a genius idea!

Quoted from MiniPinHead:If Stern does Jaws, then Pokémon, and then Dune, all the non-Pokémon customers would forgive and forget all the wild marketing schemes that Pokémon will possibly bring with it.
Could totally see the Pokémon artwork package being an evolution theme, where Pro is base stage, Premium is first level, and LE is second level. Like with Jurassic Park, where Premium is the least desirable artwork package (I own a Premium), could see the same easily happening with Pokémon, where the Premium is full of Pokémon that no one knows the name of
[quoted image]
Dune would be fun
