Needs to based on porn. BALLS IN HOLES.

#5590 4 years ago
Quoted from Monte:

Subtract your pinball emotions with running a company with investors who provided revenue for Stern to expand or survive. In return, ”the evil Gary” might not of had any choice per the covenants of the agreements. Fathom that companies regardless of private or public are about making as much money as possible. Stern is not a charity to your dreams. Your loyalties are replaceable by a new consumer.
As you know, you may exercise your consumer rights and don’t buy from them and utilize the other companies. The bonus, your dreams might be satiated soon with Deeproot.

The unfortunate part is this is the lament of nearly all hobbies that turn into cash cows because 'investors'. It is no secret that companies are way more creative and take more risks when they aren't relying on making record profits and making investors happy. There is a sense of 'love' put into the product during that phase that seems to go away once it is all about 'what's good for the business'. While investors are supposed to make the company 'better' and able to do more, the reality is usually the opposite to the early adopters who watched the company grow. It's just how the world works unfortunately.

What I find interesting is people who defend any business practice, as if they are doing anyone a favor. As a consumer, I have no brand loyalty. I've never understood people who are so one sided regarding brands. Companies chase mass market. They don't really 'care' about the consumer, they care about market share. While those may seem like the same thing they are not. What I mean by this is a company will gladly drop its existing customers if it thinks its found a way to get more customers a different way. Companies stopped listening to the consumers years ago, and it is when quality and consumer happiness dropped drastically and continues to drop. (This is mostly general, not directed at Stern).

I'm interested in both. Both are modern themes that appeal to many demographics with many possibilities for great rulesets and creative gameplay. Bring them both on!

Quoted from mbrave77:

Will confuse with star trek next gen. I say we call it eggos or something.

I like this idea as well. EGGO

Something tells me the purists won't go for it because unless you KNOW the show, you won't get it and people will constantly be asking what game EGGO is.

#6039 4 years ago
Quoted from PaulCoff:

A Stranger Things pin kinda reminds me when Stern did CSI and 24. Both are TV shows that are current, but back when Stern did CSI and 24 there were significant cut backs at the factory and employees were being let go (like Dwight S. on code).
I wonder if Stranger Things goes well what other Netflix licenses could be produced by Stern?

Nailed It.

#6065 4 years ago
Quoted from Sako-TRG:

Just don’t understand why no one has done Bladerunner.
Totally iconic masterclass of a production.
Well suited to being a class act of a pin and the right era for the old geezers in charge at Stern.
This would surely keep the line moving for a while.....

Actually I don't see it. Sure, for the time the visuals were amazing, and they stand up, but the storyline, not so much. I can't see it making a good pin at all. Not a whole lot to work with by today's standards. Now...as an old EM or early SS where really you only have the artwork that has anything to do with the theme, and the gameplay itself is generic rules, then sure...but not with todays rulesets.

#6068 4 years ago
Quoted from dri:

JM is a William Gibson short story, way thinner than "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" by PK Dick (the Bladerunner inspiration). JM turned into GG's best game to date and by today's standard holding up mighty fine. Just sayin'

On my top dream themes along with The Fifth Element, Resident Evil and Battlestar Galactica.

You're not wrong, in the right hands almost anything could be turned into a workable pinball machine.

#6093 4 years ago
Quoted from freeplay3:

The first time I played Circus Voltaire was at my distributor. He offered me his floor model CV for 1600 out the door. I passed because no one wanted to play them on location.

To this day I'll never understand that. I absolutely loved this game the first time I saw it on location. Loved to play it too. I probably would have owned one had I known that had happened, the only ones I ever saw were really beat up.

Eh..yea...those remake movies weren't good, is it even relevant now? I feel like they missed the timing of it by quite a bit...

Based on the rumors of upcoming games, sounds like I can concentrate on finding some older games for awhile.

Next Stern pin is....

Choose Your Own Adventure!

Comes with no toys, no art, no mechs, just a wood cabinet and a ball. You then can choose from a list of pieces and build it yourself like a lego set. Pre order special of 5 mix/match pieces for $1000 (+9k for the machine). If you want art you can have a spray can for $500. New slogan: An imagination is worth 1000 dollars+shipping.

#6770 4 years ago

I would think if they are doing a comics art package, then the 'toys' etc would also have to be the comic models which would be much better. Maybe if designed in that manner with DMD/LCD using old assets rather than the abomination movies there might be some desire for it...otherwise, I don't get it either.

#6786 4 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

It’s why Stern must be looking to rework TF, there’s just no demand for them, they take ages to sell on, if they sell at all and when they do it’s usually with continual reductions/bumps.
Would new art alone really shift many units? And would there really be much interest for operators to put out a G1 Transformers?

I think there would be...as an entirely newly envisioned pin. I mean..TMNT is next right? It's already been done...

#6797 4 years ago

Man a Zeppelin pin would have to be off the charts gameplay wise for me to want one. I am SOO over that band. I also cannot fathom how that theme would actually be anything good. Why not just put them on the jukebox while playing one of your other games?

It's Bonanza. You're welcome. It's to counter CGC's CCr. Set to reveal March 24th.

#7172 4 years ago
Quoted from mrclean:

All I know is whenever BTTF LE / CE / SE / Remake comes out they must use some type of levitating magnet feature for the hover board / Delorean.
The backglass can have a small portion of the artwork dedicated to the interior dash of the Deloreon which would change dates / times and keep score using numeric display. Bottom would be the newer LCD.
It also needs to have heavy focus on 1985 / 1955 as the main playfield. This can be achieved by having under the playfiled rotating slides / inserts.
Skateboard / pinball gets attached to a pickup / drags you somewhere else on the playfield. (power of love playing) During enchantment under the sea chuck berry Johnny B Goode starts playing during hurry up mode picture on the LCD starts to fade, you need to hit the shots / strings on the guitar to save your future.
Flames on the playfield can easily be achieved when you hit outter loops 88mph and takes you back to the future... also lighting with LEDS
Escape from the libyian's mode
Call out quotes galore
Save Einstein mode
Save Jennifer mode
Lower Playfield 1885, western shootout , tombstone frisbee, rescue clara train etc..
Upper Playfield 2015 floating Deloreon, Biff light up hotel, flying hover board, get the sports almanac back
[quoted image]

That sounds more like a JJP than what you'd get with a Stern.

#12481 3 years ago

Well unless they are doing G vs. K how is it going to go with the movie?

King of Monsters was decent, and mode wise, would make for a decent pin, but the one before it was bad.

I'm surprised they haven't made a King Kong pin. Skull Island was pretty damn good.

You KNOW they are going to make new zilla, not old zilla.

#12489 3 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

As long as Stern is trying to sync their pin releases to the movies, why not a Psycho Goreman pin? Would be great fun...

That trailer is awesome. Can't wait for the movie.

#12498 3 years ago

They should license the Bill Paxton pin from Ben

#12502 3 years ago
Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

I love original TOHO Godzilla as much as the next guy. But the newer Godzilla is far from that bad honestly. I'm definitely not going to split hairs on a theme and complain if it's one variant not the other as long the execution is carried out well either way. Right now I'm excited to have a theme I'm actually keen on as opposed to the entire 2020 slate of Sterns. I would hazard a guess the license will be Hollywood based ie WB like JP and most recent Stern film based titles.

If it's like JP it will be "ATTACK OF THE BIG GREEN LIZARD!"....which...actually might be better.

#12531 3 years ago
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Yiu ciuld always buy a Zepplin and play Crue music instead. Apparently Steve only makes the same games over and over now anyway.

Doing that over the GnR pin would make more sense

Quoted from mrclean:

This is the way... Seems to be rotating, drop down upper playfield. Presumably Grogu aka baby yoda has a magnetic hand to pickup pinballs within that upper plastic ramp area ?!, possibly might move his head, does he blink ? modders will have that happen. Back glass meh, rest of the game is pretty packed , lots of wire forms, as stated in the other thread haven't seen a Stern game this packed since Ghostbusters / Simpsons Pinball Party
[quoted image]

No Bill Burr on the backglass? I'm out.

#18022 2 years ago

LOL. I actually think this looks pretty decent for a change. Wouldn't buy one without playing it first though.

#18066 2 years ago

I really thought the Grogu would move in some manner...even the video showed what looked like it shaking back and forth..guess that was just from the shaker motor maybe. Like make his head follow the ball ala FH or something. As a fan of the show, I like the theme, and overall I'm not as critical of the art as many here. I think the game has potential if the code is good. I do like the up/down moving pf they can use that to make certain modes harder than others, but you would think it needs a cover.

#18068 2 years ago
Quoted from digitaldocc:

Looks promising. First thing I'd do is rip baby Yoda out and make a topper out of him. When the magnets turn on maybe lights can shine on him or something. Must get rid of that useless doll junking up the playfield. I'd be good with that.

I think that's a huge...rub. If you are going to put something THAT large on a pf it should be interactive in some manner. I'm not even clear what that magnet is actually used for but it's just there and you pretend Groku did it.

Quoted from xyntec:

Wandavision?? Sounds like porn? Oh wait you said Disney, so guess it would be some animation movie then?

No, it's part of the Marvel universe. It's takes place after Endgame. It is...definitely unique in its delivery. If you aren't into the Marvel stuff you probably wouldn't care for it.

#18092 2 years ago

You can't do that. It has the word "man" in it. Not woke enough.

It would seem Stern needs to start considering the abbreviations available when planning for new games.

Honestly I think MAN should be sufficient.

#18095 2 years ago

was a joke man, a joke. except the 'MAN should be sufficient' part.

#18097 2 years ago

why so sensitive?

#18101 2 years ago
Quoted from SLAMT1LT:

I'm pretty sure that big toy thing at the back will move, probably only move it's head from side to side, but there's no way something that big would be added to a pinball game and do nothing.....no way. No one on the design team would be happy with that. If I'm wrong and it doesn't move....then you guys are getting ripped off.

I would think if it moved...they'd have highlighted it.

#18102 2 years ago

why so stalkerish? Don't think I haven't noticed. Someone needs to take their happy pills.

#18120 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

The problem with the Baby Yoda doing nothing is it's just a missed opportunity to up the cool factor and theme integration. They could have had the ball go in behind a partition, then he could concentrate and the ball could go flying up into his hand from the playfield and hang there, then have it release and another magnet repels it horizontally toward the player into a ball guide or something. I mean, it's been DONE already in JM (except the throwing) and would be completely on-theme. Just stuffing a doll they got a deal on into the playfield is lame.

Oh yeah, I agree...I've already voiced my dismay at how they put such a large toy there that apparently does nothing..not even a bash toy.

#18122 2 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

It makes people come over and put money in it. Once they realize he doesn’t do anything, it’s too late! Bwahaha!!!

You know...that's a pretty good point.

I'd buy a Trailer Park Boys pin if they made one.

#18198 2 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

We have come to the point in this thread where some people who have decided to buy the game are now becoming very defensive over it. Happens with every new release but the people being offended need to realize this is general game thread where criticism is normal, not a club thread.
In regards to your comment to Stern I'm glad you made is as the name of the Nerdist article is "Baby Yoda Controls the Balls in THE MANDALORIAN Pinball". No, Baby Yoda does nothing. "The game’s best component, though, is its large custom sculpture of Grogu. He looks and moves like he is controlling the balls in the game. Just like he controls the little round knob from the Razor Crest". No, Baby Yoda doesn't move, he doesn't control the pinball, he does nothing.
https://nerdist.com/article/star-wars-the-mandalorian-pinball-baby-yoda/

Yeah, they really stretching with their sales pitch. Very nearly false advertising...if that's even possible in pinball. Probably not, too many apologists addicted and scared they may not get the next fix.

#18232 2 years ago
Quoted from TheCoinSlotTC:

I doubt baby Yoda moves, but the UV feature on Stranger Things isn't on that games matrix. So the sandbag precedent is there. Wishful thinking... but still maybe?
https://sternpinball.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Stranger-Things-Feature-Matrix.pdf

So a $700 replacement doll who's arm moves? Can't wait! *cough*

You and I both know our group would be rich!!! We just invented the next stern pin! Guaranteed to sell world wide! Never mind Mandalorian. The Will Farrell machine now with sex Panther should be pre sold out next week!

The X rated LE won’t be available until next year unfortunately...
