Quoted from rvdv:

Need a really nice adult theme for a change
Sexy girl was great with pic feature
Maybe Deep Throat ?
Endless possibilities
Most of these end up home used only anyway
And possibly bars.

Aren't there enough other avenues for you to get your rocks off? Buy one of the trillion older pinball games with scantily clad women in the art and have a blast in your weirdo basement. How's about pinball is pinball and you get your "Deep Throat" online?

#3605 4 years ago
Quoted from Tranquilize:

Full agro on your 9th post. You're going to fit right in around here. Welcome to Pinside!

This gave me a legit chuckle, hahaha. How do I upvote your post 5 times!?

#3606 4 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Not sure but might be a difference between a game with women and a game centered on porn and blowjobs. I think we need some clarification. Very important discussion.

This is indeed the distinction I'm getting at here. Games with pretty people, most often women, were a thing, are a thing, will be a thing.

The notion of a "porn and blow job" theme though is a Stranger Thing that I find kinda baffling

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

There's a reason Star Gazer is so popular and it's not only because of the gameplay.

Are You Not Entertained!? But yes, back to the subject. Next is Elvira 3, right? Isn't that the not so secret these days?

#3662 4 years ago

What's the thinking behind Elvira 3? Is Elvira's fanbase growing in a way I'm not aware of?

It seems like Elvira fans can get their kicks with the two existing games, no?

I can see it from a pinball "throwback" theme that caters to existing pinball people niche, but that seems to be a vein recently tapped with the new BK

#3684 4 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

That said, I bet Elvira is a cheap license, it does hit 80s nostalgia, and you get Cassandra Peterson and co presumably doing a lot of writing and voice work. I assume they'll do hand drawn art of her for the LCD animations? Maybe her lying on a couch. I don't know what sort of footage they'd have from her back in the day and I doubt there is much demand for a scantily clothed septuagenarian.

That's a good point, I'd bet as well it is a relatively cheap license. Even BK3000 had licensing costs via WMS, probably more than Elvira?

Elvira is probably affordable enough to produce that they can gamble on getting some nostalgia buys from people aware of the other two games, even if not fans of Elvira persay

#3725 4 years ago

... and I heard Elwin was doing.... us all a favor by designing another game irrespective of theme! Iron Maiden was an instant classic, great layout.

#3919 4 years ago

GoT Vault? Series finale, new code, etc. If it ever happens now's the time... update the art catch the last GoT buzz...

In the Deadflip code update stream, when anyone asked Dwight about it being rereleased, he made a comment or two along the lines of "I can't speak about the rerelease...", rather than saying "I'm not sure if theres a rerelease" which could be read as it is happening he just wasn't allowed to talk about specifics.

Would make sense for a ComicCon audience too

#3933 4 years ago
Quoted from Sinestro:

Hey Einstein, Elvira isn't a cornerstone pin. It will be a pricey, botique style pin, ala Batman '66.
This July reveal will be the third cornerstone pin.

If Frightener had a nickel for every time he got called Einstein sarcastically, maybe he could afford a TBL!

#4109 4 years ago

Did Stern not say they were going to be announcing a new game at a booth that had a different number than the one associated with Star Wars? If so might there be an announcement there about a proper new game?

I could be mistaken, I did not follow their hype machine closely

#4201 4 years ago

Pinburgh/ ReplayFX happen to be in less than 2 weeks... 10 bucks (in quarters) says that's when the next cornerstone gets unveiled...

Elwin, the Sharpes, Sexton, literally everyone from Stern and the competition scene are already gonna be there, show us that new pin!

#4203 4 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

What if they pulled a The Wizard (Fred Savage movie for non-millennials and Power Glove lovers). Make everyone compete on a brand new game in the final match!
It won't happen for obvious reasons, but that would be epic.

As someone who has seen that movie no less than 30 times (no idea why, but I love it, and the Power Glove), I'd very much love that.

Though as someone playing the tournament, heck I'd still love it. I'll never make the finals. Be fun to see those folks sweat! Not fair though if it's Keith's game and he also makes the finals

Weird fun fact about Wizard, the female co-star girl is Jenny Lewis, who went on to a successful music career thats still going strong in the indie scene.

Quoted from Pinzap:

Jacob... I’ll take that bet (if you’re serious). I’ll be at Pinburgh and I see that you’re on the players list as well. We can settle up on Saturday or Sunday.

Hahahahaha, you're on, totally! I'm probably wrong, but it's not the worst bet I've made (that honor goes to signing the papers of my former marriage) so we dont run afoul of any "rules," let's say it is for 10 dollar play money, but if the loser happens to "drop" 10 bucks at Replay and the winner happens to find said 10 bucks, so it goes!

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!
#4217 4 years ago
Quoted from Pinzap:

Sounds good. And I could definitely be wrong (as I usually am)... but I’m guessing it will be revealed BEFORE then. If you’re game, we can modify the bet so that if I’m right you owe me $10... if it’s revealed at Replay, I owe you $10... and if it’s after Replay we can consider it a push. And by revealed, I mean officially announced (not just the first show where it’s present).
BTW: I lost the former marriage bet as well... so our track record is even.

Sounds fair. Revealed after is a push. Ya, that was my realization too, you got a good chance of winning by it being announced in advanced for sure.

I guess it's a win-win if one of us loses, then at least theres been a new game announced!

Quoted from Pinzap:

wlf_ ... Looks like I was a bit more right on this one than my first marriage bet. I'm going into Pinburgh up $10 now... sweet. Now, should I head over to that mybookie site to see how quickly I can lose it?
And you're right... it's a win-win because we get to play the pro (supposedly) at ReplayFX.

Quoted from J85M:

Magnets like TAF and magna save between the flippers sync with video of 11 using her powers are a must!!

Dear god, no. Magnets on TAF, magna slings on GB, woof. Hard pass. Could use for magna save, but I've only ever once seen anyone use it on a game like WCS near flippers. Outlanes ala BK more legit

#5492 4 years ago
Quoted from CLEllison:

I'd say history is important here which also proves your personal preference to be severely different than most. There's a reason TAF is still one of the most highly sought after (A) list games that continues to grow in value even though it had high production numbers.
The fact that the magnets changes the game from being static to dynamic is fantastic.

TAF is fantastic, it is an A game and I agree, it continues to grow in value...

... saying the reason for that is because of the magnets is bonkers.

Lawlor pops change a game from static to dynamic in a better way. You can skillfully avoid pops, but there's no way to skillfully avoid a totally random, totally uncontrollable power drain from the magnets.

That's the problem with TAF magnets, and GB premium magna slings. There's nothing skillful about them... they're particularly bad for competition. Eventually the most skilled players figured out the only way to control around them was to time them out, which they did, and which is incredibly boring and a waste of time and weakens flippers. Thus why magnets on TAF get turned off in most competitions now.

Quoted from Rager170:

The magna slings on GB are awesome! I wouldnt trade those for anything.

see above.

#5496 4 years ago
Quoted from CLEllison:

Never said it's because of the magnets. You misunderstood.

Uh, yeahhh, you did

Quoted from CLEllison:

The fact that the magnets changes the game from being static to dynamic is fantastic.

Maybe you misunderstand what misunderstood means?

A game can be great, in spite of a feature. TAF is great. The magnets are not, in my opinion. But of course, the other 99% of the game is spectacular, and the game is popular for that reason. Its popularity does not prove anything about the magnets. You said the magnets are fantastic. What am I misunderstanding?

#5503 4 years ago

Quoted from Extraballz:How lame is it that you had to pick on the fun increasing magnets of TAF just to have a opportunity to let everyone know you play tournaments. The magnets on TAF are meant to disrupt normal play. That’s the whole point. Those magnets are great.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I do not find getting power drained at random due to nothing I did to be fun... If I brick a shot, ya, I deserve a drain. But the magnets arent that kind of punishment. it's not that different from say a Medieval Madness scoop that feeds sdtm 50% of the time... that's disruptive, sure, but not particularly fun, to me. Its OK if you feel differently, you do you

#5592 4 years ago
Quoted from Extraballz:

Seems likes a perfectly fine thread to express my disappointment in Stern.

Yeah, but you're not really expressing your disappointment, you're basically calling everyone else crazy for discussing (not even buying, simply talking about) the next Stern game...

Quoted from Extraballz:

I can’t understand why anyone would even be looking forward to the next Stern

You're welcome to your opinions, you're even welcome to say you aren't buying Stern. But this is a thread for discussing the next Stern game. You've made it abundantly clear you aren't interested, soooooo, maybe this isn't the thread for you?

Edit: I just noticed you re-posted your troll comment a second time, hahahaha. It was a bad take the first time, and you re-post? I agree with @graysonsdad, need attention much?

That "SEGA" never made a Sonic the Hedgehog Pinball is beyond me...

None of Sega Pinballs games appear to be based on actual Sega properties?

Perhaps it was a conscience decision not to do something sonic related? They were really busy at that point with video games and prolly genesis and dreamcast stuff, maybe they didnt wanna water down that license?

Woulda been rad though!

Quoted from freeplay3:

What a sad list. I know, there are a couple fair titles on there, but over all not a good line up as a whole.

Certainly a strange group in hindsight... a lot of stuff that I think were actually solid box office hits, but just as many dud themes.

Tough to put oneself back in the late 90s... I remember more pins being at movie theaters and stuff. Can't imagine home owners were clamoring for a Twister game in their basement ha

Quoted from PinMonk:

Cool, but that could just be another The Pinball Company Jetsons atrocity.

There wasnt any company listed, could very well be any company, maker, rights holder, CN, rando corporate entity, tangentially pinball related, not even pin related, etc. It would actually strike me as odd if it were a theme that Stern would produce.

#5775 4 years ago
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Hey Mr. Messeks, get Stern to make a Rick and Morty pinball machine.[quoted image]

I think if you're gonna go with a "current" theme that in theory appeals to "young folks" to some degree, it might be hard to swing a Rick and Morty for Stern... you gotta go with a Pokemon, which at least spans a few different generations, whereas Rick and Morty hasn't permeated the world as much yet.

#5777 4 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Ask McDonalds if they agree with that...they underestimated R&M and paid the price.

Yes because free sauce and 7K pinball machines are ostensibly the same.

I still like a TMNT as a possibility, at some point...

Quoted from delt31:

If the tmnt are not 90s and look like that I'm out. Stern don't let me down.

Yeah. If TMNT got made, I'd be VERY surprised if were anything but the 80s/early 90s Mirage/Playmates/comics etc theme. You gotta try to capture and appeal to the adult home use and barcade crowd.

I believe Raw Thrills has made a somewhat recent fighter/redemption game with more recent TMNT art, but that's a different ballgame. None of those are going in home and all its gonna be almost entirely kids putting money in those. Stern would be unwise to do the same, I'd think.

Quoted from Wakky:

Star Trek is one of our favourite games and Gary's too !

There's always one smarty pants.

Gonna be hard to come up with a Stranger Things abbreviation with ST taken hmmm maybe STS, the last S for it be plural. STP? Stranger Things Pinball? SST - Stern Stranger Things?

These ain't bad suggestions. I'm just gonna call it Stranger Things, lol

#6030 4 years ago

If Brian Eddy is doing ST, then who is on design and code for Turtles?

Who else is on staff, Borg, Ritchie, Keith, Gomez (who I dont think takes lead as often anymore?)

#6837 4 years ago

I think a Transformers rerelease could do well for Stern. A lot of new buyers, and new to the hobby who havent been exposed to the game, it's far enough removed that any bad reputation as far as play wont necessarily insta turn off folks.

The comic art for Star Wars is legit amazing, a big home run. For better or worse, a lot of folks already have a Star Wars, so the comic one hasn't made huge waves. But if they can knock the art out of the park again on Transformers, with some cool G1 80s vibes that check the retro box, it could be an intriguing release!

If they can improve gameplay with code or even some playfield tweaks, could have some potential!

#7102 4 years ago
Quoted from King_Jelly:

EDIT: There is a very good chance that there will be no Ninja Turtles...
Stern uses Code Names for their games.
Jaws = Jurassic Park
Goonies = Stranger Things
The current publisher of Heavy Metal was one of the creators of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
“Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who had grown up reading Heavy Metal, took over publication of the magazine with volume 16 in May 1992, under the name Metal Mammoth, Inc. Eastman sold the magazine to digital and music veteran David Boxenbaum and film producer Jeff Krelitz in January 2014. Eastman continued to serve as publisher of the magazine and is a minority investor in the new Heavy Metal, which is now published by Heavy Metal Media, LLC.“
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Metal_(magazine)?wprov=sfti1
[quoted image]

It could be that was a code name... suppose it could be also not be the case. Maybe this was part of a deal Stern made, where agreeing to do this contract game helped them land the TMNT license? Time will tell!

Quoted from luvthatapex2:

Nope. Heavy Metal Magazine pinball has a DMD and Star Wars HOME has a full color LCD with animations. That's a huge step back.

Have you actually played the home Star Wars game? I'm guessing not, because the LCD was not a great feature. It is tiiiiiiiny, looks odd, and meh. My initial thought was, just do a dmd, makes it look like a normal pin then.

Mind you I only played a handful of games, but it was pretty fun to play! Id play it over a few recent full releases in a heartbeat! Two things that struck me were the small LCD, and lack of a coin door mech. Both made it feel cheaper than it actually was, going with a dmd and having a coin door were good calls. I could definitely see paying 50 cents to play one of these games, give it a go at a distributor, will surprise ya!

Price, well, price is a different story, as ZombieYeti mentions above. No way would I plop down the dough needed to buy one... but if an op did and let me put a few quarters in, for sure!
