Quoted from RTR:
You guys must have missed the TronVE thread?
Still won't matter to Stern. They don't take suggestions seriously from here. What do we know? We're just the core demographic anyways. I'm sure whatever crapfest Gary picks is it.
Quoted from John_I:
Video game themes would not work because they would immediately narrow the perspective buyers way too much. A much higher percentage of the population watches movies or listens to music than plays video games. The cross section of people who watch movies with people who might actually pony up the cash to buy a pinball machine is a lot bigger than the cross section video gamers with perspective pinball buyers.
Next Gen gamers will have their time in pinball....but not yet.
Now, someone mentioned Jaws??
Quoted from taz:
Well, it worked for Big Lebowski, and I was one of the conspirators willing that one into existence. Now, it seems a bunch of folks have just about willed Iron Maiden into existence. So, hopefully everyone will be happy and shut up about it soon afterwards. Then move on to willing Jaws into existence so that we can get that constant noise out of the way too. Maybe then, without those two taking so much air out of Pinside, we can move on to willing into existence a great game like Scooby Dooby Doo!
Scooby Doo, HR PUFFNSTUFF, I don’t care as long as they follow Jaws.
Stern HAS to be sick of my shit by now. I know everyone else is.
Quoted from PW79:
I get all hyped up about new releases... Then I remember they take years to finish, if ever.
I'm starting to think when the next title is announced I should buy that new minivan my wife says we need. By the time the game is done my wallet will have recovered from the vehicle purchase & I can then buy the game.
Woe is me. Woe is me.
First world problems Brotatochip.
Gotta admit it...both look great. Watched the show off and on as a little kid in the seventies, so I *kinda* grew up with it.
Herman and Grandpas hijinx were the highlight for me. Ohh, and Spot.
While I agree with the timeline and designer assessment, I believe Jaws will be the theme. Summertime town NEEDS summertime dollars.
Zombie yeti already stated it’s not for a Stern pin. BaTEA is not in the works. Sorry.
Quoted from vireland:
On the awesomeness spectrum of possible pinball licenses, Jaws is *okay* but nowhere near the top. But honestly, designer and programmer matter more than theme, so I don't know what anyone's getting worked up about.
Jaws music and callouts span generations. What’s not to get? Actors were and still are considered A list, although Dreyfus has tried to go left field lately.
Lots of modes for a pin.
Quoted from John_I:
TMNT and Top Gun would both be hard passes. Top Gun is a nightmare theme to me. The Led Zep reskin sounds interesting if it is not over priced due to licensing like the Beatles was. A nice 80s reskin with 2.1 sound and LCD for Pro prices would be great. Lets not forget that JP2 and Elvira 3 are both new on the scene and really great games. Not sure why there is a rush.
Stern is playing marketing 101. Cannot address QA issues, will not lose money on affected buyers ( there seem to be a lot of them, enough to hurt the bottom line? ), so accelerate new product timelines.
Quoted from Wakky:
How about you go into his office, ask the question then beware of his reaction.
Up to you.
But it's been mentioned here many times and common knowledge it's a NO regarding BTTF. He said its DONE AND THAT'S IT! (yelling with annoyance)
Keep asking but this one has been out of question for a long time now.
If you see him at a trade show I dare you to ask again. But you will not like his reaction when he shoots you down !!
Meh. Gary can kick and scream to his little hearts desire. I have zero issues laying it out for him. I don’t work for him and could care less.
Quoted from Extraballz:
I can’t understand why anyone would even be looking forward to the next Stern. Not enough features and quality there for me anymore. Sterns great themes have become more like lipstick on a pig for me personally. If Stern ever brings their game back up to say LOTR features/quality I would be interested again. But until that day comes I am looking forward to what the other manufacturers are doing.
Truth. Hard assed truth.
Great Stern is making titles left and right, but without QC and any real imagination, I’m not buying anything Stern.
