Quoted from SLAMT1LT:

I've said it before, unless Stern (or JJP) get FULL access to ALL the assets, a new BTTF game will be dog shit.
Be thankful, no one has attempted to make another BTTF game without it's main star - Michael J. Fox. If the community raises $100k for his foundation, maybe he'll play ball.

Agree. If Stern pledged a certain amount from each game sold to his foundation and that number was sufficiently high I bet he would authorize the use.

Quoted from Tranquilize:

It's Christopher Lloyd that is the hold out. Take a look at the repro playfields. Uncle fester has been altered beyond recognition.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I had assumed it was still MJF.

Is that because he doesn’t want one or is Stern backlogged in making it? What games does Keith own?

He mentioned on TPN in August that he keeps one game in his office and it is IM. Not sure what he has at home.

On another note, what would you guys think of a Lego themed Pin? I am pretty sure this is as about cross-generational as you can get. Maybe Lego Batman or multiple Lego themes in one pin?

Yes to Lego Batman as long as we get Will Arnett for call outs.

Quoted from Psw757:

I’m about 100% certain next Kapow is Bond. He mentioned the license way back when Beatles was in development and it is my understanding he was involved in the SSG entertainment Bond themed slot machines.

https://www.sggaming.com/games/scientific-games/james-bond-game-series

They did Connery as well. If they can get him on a slot machine I surely hope they can get licensing for pinball.

Quoted from pinmister:

Ok so Joe is Mr. License guy and always has been. Ok I get it but why the boutique model? Is there not enough meat on the bone for everyone? The Beatles with different lipstick trims for outrageous pricing was humorous to me. Kaaaaaaapow!
You sell enough fair priced units and everyone benefits. May actually make more by going with more pros, etc?

This worked out well for me. I got a Beatles gold for a fair price and don’t feel one bit sad about not having a platinum or diamond. I too agree it was crazy to charge what they did for those two with basically just some different powder. At least with B66 you got an exclusive topper if you ponied your the extra cash.

#25813 2 years ago
Quoted from pinmister:

Many sat in dealers warehouses until they needed to yard sale them. I actually dig the Beatles and have always had the argument that Stern may have done better(sold more) had they priced them reasonably. Sell x amount at a reasonable price or sell x- going the boutique route. Beatles bamboozled many unfortunately.

Totally agree. I came to the Beatles party late so all the initial crazy of the release was behind us. So I got my Gold and love it. My kids dig it too. Very approachable and easy for them to understand the rules.

Quoted from Pinhead1982:

Saw Gary Stern at EAG in London yesterday.
Got a photo with him.
I asked if it was one of his last shows and is he taking it easy as Seth is now President.
That was met with a smile, and a quick no way, he intends to keep going. Legend!
Also said that I thought Rush was a good layout, but not my theme.. said I was holding out for BOND or BTTF, which again was met with a smile. Doug was also there and said “yeah, I hear people have been asking for that”
Gary did say that this year AND ONLY this year 2 games - Rush and another, whilst they catch up on back log. I did ask. About a Kapow/Stern or other boutique game and he did say no. But probably wouldn’t tell me anyway. [quoted image]

So he said no to a Kapow or boutique? Interesting if we then truly only get 2 games this year.

Quoted from Merendino:

I'm a sucker for old TV shows, give me MST3K, Married with Children, I love Lucy, Lavern & Shirley, M*A*S*H or Get Smart. (Watched those with my dad as a kid)
My pinball buddy REALLY wants an A-Team. (Not my thing but hey to each their own)
I'm kinda shocked there hasn't been a Goonies, Never Ending Story or Princess Bride to be honest. I know we have a Wizard of Oz but man, Return to Oz would be so neat to see as a home brew project one day.

I also watched get smart with my dad. Would be a super fun campy pin.

Quoted from Utesichiban:

Stern has already announced there would only be one more new title this year, likely in the August timeframe. Are you suggesting that has now changed and there will now be two? If I’m a betting man, I’d wager on Bond in August.

They were careful in their wording and said one more cornerstone release. That doesn’t rule out a studio release. So maybe we do get 2??? That would be cool.

#27706 1 year ago

DeadFlip is this your next cornerstone? Hopefully you can release it to coincide with the movie drop? Laura did say on your twitch stream that your theme would be something we wouldn’t expect???!!!

The only reason a VHS tape went for that much is it was the sealed copy that the actor who played Biff Tannen owned. Even then, pretty crazy.

I think he offered to put a note with it as well. Can you imagine what this would sell for if it was an unopened Michael J. Fox VHS that was signed by him or came with a note. Yowzers!

Quoted from ticktockman:

If it’s just the one Insider Connected update pushed out across all 18 games then that post is a little deceiving on Stern’s end.

Beatles had a cool update for classic mode to make it play and score like Seawitch. I thought that was clever. My Rush got a massive update. Mando had a lot of bug fixes and a bunch of new callouts. But yeah EHOH and B66 only got tue IC stuff. So I would say it’s a mixed bag.

Quoted from TiltingT:

I am just wondering if Sterns new release will be as good as Godzilla .. can they have back to back home runs?.. Is Godzilla the new bar that has been set? I think so and think Zilla is gonna be hard to top

If all the designers including Keith are trying to one up GZ…hopefully we see some strong pins come out. Competition, even internally, will continue to push innovation and creativity if we are lucky.

Quoted from crujones4life:

Ain't no motherfuckin' way.

Yeah that would indicate that development started 12-18 months ago before the series was out and before they had any idea how it would be received. Seems like too big of a risk for Stern. That being said I do enjoy Wednesday and it could make for a great pin.

#34598 1 year ago
Quoted from Jaytech10:

Stern uses plastic cut outs for there toys. We don't know the politics behind ts4. Would be happy if ts4 had 2 spinners, 2 ramps, 3 pops, 8 stand up targets. Plastic cut out characters.
TS4 shoots great when set up right.

They for sure use a lot of plastic but Bond didn’t use quite as much as some. Bond on a wand, love rocket, underwater dudes, and db5 are not just plastics built around a frame.

Quoted from joelbob:

I had a chance to interview George Gomez earlier this week. He dropped some solid nuggets during it.
CONFIRMED:
Only two games next year.
One is Brian Eddy, with Dwight on code and Zombie Yeti on art.
Second is Jack Danger, with Tanio on code and Zombie Yeti on art.

George also said multiple times we may see Stranger Things premium again. Good job leading him down that path, lol.

George said the DeadFlip game is kind of a new direction for Stern. I thought that was interesting. So maybe not a music pin or a music pin with a big twist?

#34617 1 year ago
Quoted from Pugster:

Maybe unlicensed?

joelbob asked GG about unlicensed and he said stern will likely do one again someday, but it didn’t sound imminent.

#34619 1 year ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

maybe a home/pro/premium?

That is an interesting idea. Stern did say new home titles will still be released. If Jacks game is the 2nd one next year timing would be right for a holiday run.

#34623 1 year ago
Quoted from mr9865:

No Elwin in 2022 and 2023! Did he retire?

GG said something along the lines of just wait until you see Keith’s next game when he was talking about the upcoming cornerstone schedule.

GG talked about the fact he can leak these details because he is an officer of the company and allowed to but his team absolutely cannot. This is why I listen to every GG podcast. Always new tidbits.

#34626 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Video game license would be a new direction for Stern.
But then again, so would pharmaceutical. A whole new pharma pin line. Can wait for Ozempic by Stern.

Bond is hinting at a future viagra pin. They are getting let’s of real world testing with the love rocket.

#34628 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I dunno. Bond has been shipping with rusty balls, so I think that's a bigger hint that there's no viagra pin.

Good point!

#34636 1 year ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

If it's a unique direction for a theme, then I'll say it's Beastie Boys as a rap/rock hybrid theme.

GG confirmed zombieyeti on art for Jacks pin. Are there any bands out there that would be a good fit for his style?

Quoted from JonCBrand:

I'm with you Zombie Yeti on a Music Pin doesn't line up. I would lean more towards 80s with JD like Heman.

Then you would be stuck with a Barbie game even the women wouldn’t play. Women don’t give a fuck about pinball. Fact

My daughter loves pinball…

#34825 1 year ago
Quoted from JordyRamone:

Anyways.....
Maybe the new direction is a "younger" band whose music came out in the 90s and not the 70s/80s. ‍
Or it could be something jack did in the game. Jack sorta teased that on a stream but he could have been trolling.

Good point. GG didn’t say explicitly that the theme was going in a new direction, but rather more generally that Jack’s cornerstone was going in a new direction. So that could be something new/different on the playfield or in the software.
