Quoted from Looney:

I'd go with Harry Potter over BTTF without a second thought.

who are these people?

Harry Freaking Potter over the best trilogy ever made?

#15566 3 years ago
Quoted from Looney:

Best trilogy ever made? Wow that is a strong statement.
What is the matter with kids these days? ARE YOU ON DOPE? lol sorry I couldn't resist

name a better one...

#15578 3 years ago
Quoted from Looney:

LOTR, Star Wars, Mad Max, Bourne all better movies (IMO) than BTTF.

good list until the end
imo

1a SW
1b BTTF
LOTR was damn good.

not a mad max fan but,
bourne....buhahahaha

Quoted from Jaybird815:

Alien, The Dollars trilogy(Eastwood), Godfather

I can see the argument for godfather, alien is much much further down my list. Don't know the classic Eastwood stuff.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

let’s see what movie series is better than BTTF trilogy? this is going to be easy, let me spend 5 minutes ....
Jaws (throw out episodes 2 & 3).
Halloween ‘78 & ‘18 (throw out all others).
IJ (I liked all four movies).
Matrix (throw out episodes 2 & 3).
Alien.
Any Harry Potter movie (that’s x8).
I’ll stop there because I am out of time.

Ok so the only option you gave was Alien... and (respectfully) its not in the same league

NOpe...

Fun discussion! I might pick JP even though 2 and 3 were mediocre. Original JP was that good for me... my generations SW.

Dont understand the Harry Potter love, but admittedly im just old enough that i missed the craze. Must be a generational thing like the ones at the top of my list.

Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

Of course I knew I'd find a whole bunch of people here who sure enough didn't rate the Godzilla vs Kong, really makes me scratch my head about the demographics we have here. ... I've watched it twice now and had a ball both times and it absolutely rocks the HT. I feel there's tons of good stuff for a pin. I definitely enjoyed far more than the other Warner's Godzilla movies it. MechaGodzilla was the nice twist too. Definitely don't have to go back to TOHO for it to be a good pin as much as I too grew up with those movies.

Um no... the plot was absolutely miserable. I did really enjoy the fight scenes but the rest was a D-.

I dont think Stern has ever re-skinned any machine with a new theme have they? So I would assume the chance is 0%.

More than a simple reskin, but GOTG is the MET layout.

I got it. Covid 19 the pinball. Sorry to soon?

Admittedly I'm not much of Godzilla fan. I do understand the huge cult following the franchise has and thats great, to each their own!

I am having a hard time seeing classic Toho Godzilla translating to modern stern pinball. Spooky did have a successful launch of smaller franchise with similar type art, although spooky numbers and stern numbers are on vastly different scales.

If I am understanding it right, toho godzilla also encompasses the modern Godzilla universe (king of the monsters/ vs Kong). Is that the rumored direction? I could see that working for a Stern Elwin theme.

Honestly i guess you can throw any theme on a Elwin design and people are gonna buy the heck out of it.

Even at the current prices, pins are the best deal in the large toy department.
Try selling a boat you bought new for anything near what you paid!

I sold my 2008 boat last spring for 20k more than i bought it for 4 years ago.

Quoted from kool1:

Really like Mando, beautiful art IMO - Not sure what your alternative would be?

Agree... Mando LE cabinet art, armor and backglass are one of my favorite art packages in pinball. I like the playfield too to a slightly lesser extent.

Guess it pays to not be effluent in "rules" of art.

Quoted from BasementFacts:

Is Michael Bay what you wanted for Transformers though? TMNT was closer to the animated series but it was still a 5/10 presentation of what it could have been. Careful what you wish for. Stern makes great shooters but their treatment of beloved IPs leaves much to be desired.

Do what!? Turtles is gorgeous and the really well integrated. ZY art is better than the animated art imo, while capturing the feel of the OG animated art... The animations are basic and could have been better, but i actually think they fit the theme well and don't mind them.

Quoted from Ballderdash:

Does Nike limit how many shoes they produce? No, they want as many sneakers on as many feet as possible. Brand recognition and awareness. Grow the business. Be the “Kleenex” of pinball. They want Stern to be synonymous with pinball. Arcades with Stern leaderboards. Insider connected accounts. They’ve said Stern is a lifestyle brand and I believe they want to grow bigger. Limiting production to be exclusive and work less hard is not their mission.

Nike does limit their shoes… well the good ones anyways. For example, -tatum 1 pink lemonade. They just released a couple weeks ago and adult sizes sold out in a couple days. All the jordan repos are like this, all the ja 1s All the special colorways of kd etc.

Heck Nike even has an app so you can track what limited runs drop that week. Nike understands the importance of making certain product lines more exclusive.

Pinball isn't kleenex.

Stern has been doing a pretty good job of this up until they lost momentum on Bond. We will see where venom goes. It’ll be interesting to see if they have to tone back le numbers or adjust pricing. Honestly i’d like to see stern get away from the standard msrp for every pin. It’s not like BOM and licensing all cost the same. i.e. If HP license costs 10 mil, i don’t wanna pay for it on Venom etc.
