Why can't Stern do a non licensed theme every other game? you would think this would keep the costs down on these games instead of getting bent over by aging greedy rock stars and Hollywood idiots.

Why can't Stern do a non licensed theme every other game? you would think this would keep the costs down on these games instead of getting bent over by aging greedy rock stars and Hollywood idiots.
Why all the hype on a JAWS pin? Boring! What would be the draw to the game? Big shark on the backglass? Jaws music playing would get old real fast! Lame!
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:Or nobody likes losing $1,500 on the resale. They come up often and always at least 1k less than any other game since the chamge to LCD screens. Name a cheaper LCD Stern...ok maybe Minsters lol
Fake news. They actually don’t come up often for sale and if they do it’s not $1,500 less.
Quoted from crujones4life:Makes no sense to pull video if teaser is today...
Some sloppy work out of their media department that makes me think it’s going to be delayed. How do you NOT release your Rush title on the 21st of the month?
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:Never said I didn't like Connery Bond or anything. I'm speaking from a marketing stand point. Nobody under 40 would care about the game and many (more than usual at least lol) women would decide to take a pass on a game with the man's mug on it. Sorry you don't see bigger pictures in your hobby bubble :p
[quoted image]
Are you in marketing? This notion that women would pass on this title because it would have a mans face on it is nonsense.
Quoted from Mattyk:Ozzy or Black Sabbath would break records
With Dirty Donny art!
Quoted from greenstreet:How did this become a Van Halen fan thread?
Can we get back to promoting high demand themes like Black Sabbath, Pulp Fiction and Harry Potter?
Harry Potter? Lol
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Pearl Jam named their band after a slang term for semen. Pass.
Dumb. Actually it was named after his grandmother Pearl who made a hallucinogenic jam.
The only Jaws I want to see is the villain in a James Bond pin. The original Jaws jumped the shark in early 80s. Boring
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:No, unfortunately not. Jacks first cornerstone theme is Foo Fighters. I do hope that Elwin gets Sabbath but I also hope that they hire a new artist/graphic designer because I do not want to see what Yeti, Johnny Crap or Dirty Donny does with that license. They should hire Edmiston for Sabbath. The guy who did Halloween for Spooky.
We can only hope not. Dirty Donny or Yeti would hands down be a better art package for Black Sabbath if it’s ever made.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Franchi would be great too!
We can disagree on art styles but we can all agree Black Sabbath should be made! And made right, with insane Ozzy call outs and a great selection of music!
Quoted from nicoy3k:lol a Pokémon pinball, whats next, my little pony?
Don’t forget Harry Potter and Tonka trucks.
Quoted from Slacker_Quacker:As much as this thread would crap on a MLP pin, it does bring up the question of how big of an untapped market would that pin reach? After all, how many pinsiders here are parents who want to draw their daughters into the hobby?
Probably less than 4-5 tops
Quoted from BasementFacts:Spoken like a true corporate crony. "The demographic" are getting old fast. The pin industry better start pivoting soon. Will another 10 Rock pins over the next 10 years be just as profitable as they've been for the last 10 years?
At the end of the day Stern is in the business to make money and rock pins have done very well.
Quoted from Shapeshifter:Pink Floyd has got to be done sometime surely?
Unfortunately Pink Floyd’s music just doesn’t go well with pinball.
Quoted from PinMonk:WWII, bad guys are Nazis and everything else pretty much takes care of itself. There's a pretty tiny contingent of people that would be offended by a game that lets you defeat and humiliate Nazis.
It’s a terrible idea. What would be wizard mode at end? Drop an Atomic bomb? Let’s be honest, this current younger generation couldn’t stomach what our greatest generation did in WW2.
Quoted from Sako-TRG:Jaws was a a great film in 1975 when peeps didn’t really understand sharks.
Wind the clock forward they don’t really chase and eat boats.
Great cast, movie is great but for pinball, not so sure unless you love rubber, 25ft 3 tons .. lol
That Jaws music alone would get old really fast
Quoted from Roostking:Pokemon or Legos aren't going anywhere anytime soon</blockquote
JAWS? This guy was in James Bond, right?? There you go...
[quoted image]
That’s the only Jaws I want to see in James Bond pinball.
Pink Floyd would be a snooze fest. I can’t think of any of their songs that bring high energy excitement.
Quoted from BasementFacts:Oh Jesus not the dad rock debate again.
Stern is in the business to make money and rock pins sell! If pinside was running Stern it would go bankrupt within a year.
Quoted from alpo3744:I would much rather have any of these marvel themes than the lame rock music pins that stern has been putting out lately. Iron Madan being the only fun one out of the bunch. Please no more dad rock pins.
Again, rock pins sell and Gen X can’t get enough. You have to know your customer base if you want to stay in business.
Quoted from Saltimbanco:There's always the unpopular opinion thread!
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/unpopular-opinion-thread#post-6640187
This is Pinside, there's a thread for everything! Probably even a thread about.. threads (thou, I've yet to see that one!)
But what he said wasn’t unpopular
Quoted from Utesichiban:I'll file this one under more unsubstantiated rumors but for discussions sake, lets say Venom is the next title. How many would be interested? I know I would be out.
Definitely out, only because my wallet needs a break after Rush and Godzilla. Need to save for something good like James Bond, Ozzy/Black Sabbath
Quoted from kool1:Craig makes the most sense for all ages.
Connery wouldn't appeal to younger players.
I hope Bond is released with Connery. The Best Bond hands down!
15FE678B-2ADF-4635-B193-C4CDF22833D1 (resized).jpegQuoted from kool1:This would be a big issue with a VH pin. Is it a Roth pin or a Sammy pin... I suspect it will never happen for this reason alone unfortunately.
Licensing nightmare for Van Halen and Black Sabbath. We could see a Ozzy pin first.
Quoted from Rizmo:To each their own. They dropped the ball hard with Rush.
Not an easy game for most, especially if you have no skill and just slap the ball around to keep it in play. I don’t think you’ve played enough pinball to say Rush is a bad game.
Quoted from Kkoss24:Has the Red Hot Chilli Peppers ever been rumored ? I would love to see this pin made and can’t wait to see them in August .I’ve been taking my 13/14 year olds to shows and usually get the cheaper seats but this night I’m going all out .They have to be close to 100 mil albums sold plus they’re big all around the world.Seems like a recipe for success .What say you !
They could easily fit a dozen songs that bring high energy excitement under glass! Suck my kiss multi ball would be great!
Quoted from Kkoss24:Who the hell is 10CC ?
A band that has sucked since 1972 and named themselves after the volume of ejaculant.
Quoted from mbl1116:Two straight music pins would be a colossal miscalculation on their part
How so? Rock pins sell very well and Stern is in the business to make money.
Quoted from FalconDriver:[quoted image]
That would make a great Halloween decoration!
Quoted from Dwboca:Black sabbath would be an awesome pin. First couple albums are world changing.
Ozzy doing callouts, layered in with the songs.
Into the Void Multiball. Sweetleaf six ball multi. The wizard, wizard mode. Just off the top of my head. Maybe a Dio Easter egg thrown in
Ozzy after sabbath would be cool, But not epic for me.
Agree, but a licensing nightmare. Ozzy makes the most sense for Stern.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:I’ve been slowly divorcing myself from Stern. They are responsible for one good game a year and that’s the one I’ll buy. They’ve definitely been cranking out slop and not taking chances on cool themes or new ideas.
Will you be slowly divorcing yourself from Pinside as well?
Quoted from Zartan:Next stern?!
[quoted image]
We can only hope not. That’s terrible
Quoted from Zartan:Wow Peaches! You seem upset by it?!?
That layout looks like a 10 year old designed it. I wouldn’t pay $1,000 for it delivered.
Quoted from Zartan:Until you donate to pinside your opinion doesn’t really matter! The rest of us are having a conversation!
Is this what everyone pays for? Lol
Quoted from Zartan:Pretty much! The rest of us donate so you can enjoy something for free! Fall off your wallet and contribute! Maybe then we will care about what you have to say!
Quoted from Zartan:Oops looks like your hero has stood up for you to downvote me! My feelings are so hurt by that! Lmao!
Go away, your boring
Quoted from doc5md:I was just sitting here imagining the Stern folks sitting around reading pinside and laughing their A$$'s off with all the various speculation.
Most of the ideas here are head scratchers and would bankrupt Stern in a few months. I would hope they only look once in a while for laughs.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Don’t bother.
True! First thing my wife said when she first played GNR, ‘Hey! We want skinny 1987 Axel! Not this sh#t.
Quoted from Roostking:Lol. Halloween kills Rush 100% you bailed too soon brotha.
Halloween does not even come close to Rush! Please
Id buy a game dedicated to Casino Royale. May be the best bond movie imho. I also love goldeneye but its already had one. I think a mix of bonds would be best. Even one from each actor would be cool but thats probably too much licensing.</blockquote
^This. With card game drop targets and one of the best animated openings and music by the late Chris Cornell, Casino Royale would be my choice as well.
Quoted from Saltimbanco:Octopussy Multi Balls[quoted image]
With Xenia Onatopp two ball lock.
E12CCFCA-F3F0-4B7E-8288-B651655CAE27 (resized).jpegQuoted from acedanger:Stern please do the following:
• Beat Boys (space theme intergalactic)
• Rage against the machine
• Hells Kitchen (Daredevil, Punisher Etc.)
• Breaking Bad
• The Office
• Howard Stern w/ baba booey Multi-ball mode
• Black Sabbath
• Silver Surfer!!!***
Black Sabbath would sell. Everything else is hot trash and would lose money.
Quoted from Pinball_Syd:Enough already about bands, movie themes, remakes and the likes. Here’s a collaboration for yer. The art, colours, lights, sounds, stadiums, cheering crowds, pits, flip trick - wire form ramps, collision targets. Choose your driver. Player 1 “Grave Digger” Player 2 “El Toro Loco. Player 3 “Megladon. Player 4 “Monster Mutt Dalmatian” Freestyle bonus points. Race track illuminations. Trick mode. Same player drives again.
What pinball really needs next is more trucks!
[quoted image]
This would make a good home pin for 9-12 year olds
Quoted from Saltimbanco:I'm not so much into music pins, let alone owning one, but Ozzy makes sense even to me! More than the music being real successful, he's been and still is quite mainstream.
Considering his recent presence with Stern, I Don't Know, but looks like it wouldn't be a Shot in The Dark that One of Those Days we'll see a N.I.B. pinball with Ozzy's name on it!
I would love a Black Sabbath machine but in reality it’s a licensing nightmare. I believe we will see a Ozzy pin as the next music pin out of stern. Fingers crossed
Quoted from Lounge:Can we just delete this entire page, please?
You just can’t now! Stern marketing staff reads this thread for laughs.
Quoted from crujones4life:Obviously buying BTTF. Love to see a Rambo, Cobra Kai, or Lego pin. Lego could be incredible.
Could be incredibly boring. Legos? Come on
Quoted from pinmister:Stern's budget -- including building upgrades, prep work, move-in costs, and equipment and furniture -- is $6.5 million, and its lease is $26 million, according to an exhibit of the agreement. The lease is set to begin in October 2023.
Wow Stern has some big plans for the next ten years. Hoping they can keep finding attractive themes? Only a certain amount of grandpa rock bands left to choose from, everyone seems burned out on superheros and most of the TV/Movies of today are not pin worthy. How long can they tap into nostalgia?
My other thought is the price of machines going forward. They need to cover a lot of operational cost-and then keep it going and maintain it. Lots of big dollar salaries to support. The demand for pinball is coming back and the European market seems like it is growing rapidly as well. Glad pinball is growing-just hoping Stern can keep producing desirable themes with awesome layouts.
A lot of money to invest in something that could crash in 10-15 years. Yes, only a few worthy rock bands left to do and then what?
Quoted from Ty-Arnold:A lot of cars like Mustang GT and corvettes are investments because they are actually selling over sticker price. Sometimes 50g over sticker. But most people don't know this. Right now you can invest in the right car and make money. But once again most people...
New cars are terrible investments, unless that Mustang or Corvette is some rare low numbers car or last off the assembly line that’s documented sold at Barrett Jackson.
Quoted from Lounge:Pokemon.
That’s not a new direction, it’s a desperate attempt to sell machines to a small minority.
Quoted from Roostking:On route, with Stern Interconnected, would absolutely crush!!
I seriously doubt it. Kids play redemption games. No grown ass man is going to be standing in line to play Pokémon.
Quoted from screaminr:To the guys that want a Pokemon pinball more power to them .
From what I've heard kids are into claw machines and winning cheap crap .
I don't know how it would go , when I was a kid I was into arcade machines , it wasn't until I was in my teens I really got into pinball .
I have a friend that runs a bowling alley and said kids will spend $15-20 bucks on redemption games to win a 50 cent cheap toy.
Quoted from PanzerKraken:Folks mentioning band pins, but with how poorly Rush and LZ seem to have done do they really want to risk it? As for why those two seem to just sit around in stock and unsold at distros while Maiden keeps selling out each time without problem?
Who said Rush was poorly done? Rush is a great game!
Quoted from demandecan55:I’d buy Pokémon LE so fast. I’d sell my wife’s car without asking. I’d probably get two
I hope this comes true. Keep us posted on how that works out for you.
Quoted from Ballderdash:I love the idea of projection mapping onto blank canvases. The scenes can change with the modes without the limitations of single sculpts to build the world under glass. That said, I think a new direction would be to make a pin that has a theme primarily aimed towards female players. A la Barbie.
Then you would be stuck with a Barbie game even the women wouldn’t play. Women don’t give a fuck about pinball. Fact
Quoted from Roostking:Popcorn eating gif!
It’s nothing against women. It’s just a fact. I’m not going to be questioned by someone who makes money selling translights and decals of busty women.
Quoted from Roostking:Stern, presumebly.
And seriously would anybody actually buy a Foo Fighters pin, or do people just seem to think they want it. I have a very hard time seeing that one fly off the shelves, especially at the new and improved pricing
Nothing exciting about Foo Fighters. Yawn. Ozzy/Black Sabbath will outsell Foo Fighters all day long. Stern has to get this done before he passes away, his health has been bad lately.
Quoted from Rizmo:How the heck is AC/DC #2 on the top 100?
Great game but not even Sterns best rock pin. Metallica then Iron Maiden.
Quoted from pinmister:I want something special for King Kong, not sure fan layout with center bash will cut the cheese-let's get to work on this asap [quoted image]
Kong done similar to Godzilla would kick ass. Replace the burning building with Empire State Building and throw in some vintage battle clips and a rocking soundtrack. How would this NOT sell?
Quoted from kool1:I think a lot of people backed away from Bond because of the lack of code.
I cancelled my Bond for that reason and got a JP for now. I will probably get a Bond but development is super slow and I wanted a more complete game.
I had one ordered and canceled after seeing the artwork and lackluster playfield. Just not impressed with Bond after buying Godzilla and Rush. Bond could have been amazing but looks like Stern went on the cheap with this title.
Quoted from JakePG:With so many Australian pinball fans, Stern should consider a Men at Work, or Crowded House pin
Or even better, Mad Max
Bands that should get a pinball machine before Foo Fighters
Ozzy/Black Sabbath
Van Halen
Motley Crue
Quoted from Prince66cali:Im out. its not necessarily the themes but the methodology that sucks. we spend hours thinking up and discussing themes here. none of which get made, then we are expected to pay 10k for something no one asked for. makes sense.
Stern is in the business to make money! Not look on here for ideas. This forum has some of the most stupid ideas for machines that would bankrupt the company in six months. Some of us on only here for the laughs.
Quoted from Bmad21:If stern wants to capture the hearts of Europeans
Produce a Modern Talking Pin,and yes I listen to a couple of their songs.
Brother louie
Cheri Cheri Lady [quoted image]
Never heard of these dudes.
Quoted from frankmac:In regards to the video I posted it was great hearing Motley Crue. Especially LiveWire.
Wondering if there enough fans for a Crue pin.
Probably more than Foo Fighters.
Quoted from Prince66cali:Where are all the emotional posts regarding peoples experience with FF. How they went to a concert and it changed their world. All a sales pitch.
Foo Fighters is nothing more than “Hard Rock” for 35-45 year old white chicks. Not a polarizing band for many.
Quoted from John_C:A Floyd pin will never happen. Licensing would be a nightmare and I doubt Roger Waters would ever go for it.[quoted image]
The perfect Sunday afternoon with a joint experience . I really hope you get your Pink Floyd pin. I may have to pick one up also.
Quoted from Fsdre:If they actually come out with a jaws and BTTF what will people post about in this thread???
Quoted from pinmister:Superman Legacy 2025-make it so [quoted image]
The new bisexual Superman or the straight one?
Quoted from Roostking:Why cant we have both!
It needs to happen! But I’d rather buy Atari Superman
Quoted from PanzerKraken:Love the clickbait of the headlines. It was Superboy, not Superman, and not a replacement for Superman or a new one.
DC said it’s ushering in the NEW Superman in headline.
Quoted from JH315:I think you underestimate her demographics. How many people would buy a machine because it would please the family...not necessarily the curmudgeonly bunch here. It would do gangbusters on location. It's not the license for me...but it would likely be a commercial success.
On location I seriously doubt it would even draw attention from her fans. Lame title.
Quoted from TreyBo69:Black Knight Sword of Rage
Technically a license, but essentially an unlicensed theme if you're not a pinhead. It had one of their most innovative toys on the playfield, lots of great original LCD animations, arguably their most complex topper (and surprisingly affordable!), and a custom soundtrack by Anthrax's and Dethklock's lead guitarists.
And then most people said, meh
Black Knight SOR is Sterns most underrated game!
Quoted from beltking:I know the next 6 games and not bttf unfortunately. I can’t say anything else so don’t ask but not bttf.
Bullshit
Quoted from Pinbarclay:A vault makes too much sense.
It does. LOTR would crush it in sales.
Quoted from Prince66cali:So you re a teacher that makes so much money you don't care about losing 2k on a pin?
Who gives a fuck! That’s his business, not yours
Quoted from Prince66cali:I give a fuck because everyone is full of shit on this thread. "I don't care if I lose money" "Stern should raise prices, why wouldnt they?" lol. Cool then sell me a pin right now at a 2k discount.? Won't happen. You ll just sit on the inventory because you can. How many of the people here are really self made and never inherited anything? Maybe a few.
If not, it's a privilege issue
More than a few.
Quoted from Prince66cali:No, I get downvotes for telling the truth. Look at the attempt at narrative control alone. Also, I guarantee they use this site for a portion of market research. They would be foolish not to. What else would they use, surveys and focus groups?
Stern doesn’t follow Pinside. If it did I would have gone bankrupt years ago. This is a small minority of enthusiasts with often insane wants and wishes for future games.
Quoted from BW1029:Why is every music pin rock or heavy metal? Is it just a generational thing?
Because Heavy Metal and Rock pays the bills for Stern.
Quoted from Prince66cali:Everyone would agree band pins suck for the most part.
Band pins pay the bills. Are you in marketing?
Quoted from TreyBo69:Maybe Stern got the license after the first movie did well and was hoping it would pan out when the sequels released, sorta like how they did GOTG. It's impressive how far those movies fell off
Venom 2018, 116m budget, 855m gross
Venom 2 2021, 110m budget, 506m gross
Morbius 2022, 75m budget, 167m gross
Also it sounds like Venom might double as an Ozzy/heavy-metal-pin
Ozzy needs his own pin! Venom- yawn.
Quoted from mbl1116:I don’t know how substantial any of these rumors are, but the metal/venom hybrid at least makes a little sense. Might draw in the ozzy people who wouldn’t otherwise touch Venom, and vice versa
I would never buy a Venom pin just because it has a few Ozzy tracks. Just saying.
I called Kong along time ago, if done similar to Godzilla with vintage battle clips, how could you not buy one to place next to Godzilla? Maybe a licensing nightmare?
Quoted from Prince66cali:People are seriously underestimating this game. FF, Rush, and Bond all sold and those titles are weak compared to this. Disclaimer - Stern do NOT use my excitement to justify a current or future price increase. That being said, this game is going to be fire.
Stern doesn’t care. They don’t read these threads and if they did it’s just for laughs.
Quoted from Prince66cali:Joke is on you Champ. I like how you make it sound like the executive team at Stern is better than GS. Lol.
You should drop everything and go apply at Stern. Lol
Quoted from Prince66cali:Pinside is the best business specific research forum ever created.
Yea sure
Quoted from Prince66cali:I feel like you re one of those people who thinks that everyone still wears a suit to the office and in person meetings are more effective.
No, common sense. You really think Stern gets all of its ideas from this site? Plenty of other forums as well. Pinside is a small minority.
Quoted from crujones4life:Iron Maiden...
They didn’t get that idea from Pinside. Iron Maiden was inevitable. Rock pins pay the bills
Quoted from Prince66cali:Yes, depending on existing contracts and availability of themes. It is a great test market. Why else do you think different themes are thrown around and discussed.
Most of the the ideas discussed are dumb and would hardly sell.
Quoted from Prince66cali:If it wasn't for the pin, I wouldn't even know who Iron Maiden was.
How old are you? 12
Quoted from Prince66cali:So tell me then, how do they develop their ideas?
That’s their business, I would imagine they have a marketing team
Quoted from Prince66cali:You don't know how these things work.
Please tell us all then
Quoted from chad:When Stern moved prior there were dumpsters loaded with parts. Etc.
Wonder how much was tossed this time around.
Would make an insane thread starter. ‘Anyone dumpster dive at Stern warehouse?
Quoted from kool1:No apologies needed - it's business. Pure capitalism. Welcome to the real world.
Someone needs a cheaper hobby
Quoted from Prince66cali:So I'm guessing that 50% of the people here are Boomers with retirement cash to waste based on their timeline. The rest are working people with or without families. You want to see a real secondary market crash, keep telling them they should give money to Stern and take losses. Just my opinion.
Stop moaning about prices. Get a new hobby, pinball machines are not investments!
Quoted from RA77:Pokemon is one of the most epic franchises I agree.
Sorry to say,
But in real pinball world will struggle, like Venom.
Will not be worth the crazy licencing fees.
No matter who does it, Elwin,Borg,Danger, Eddie etc.
Will be a mega polarising theme and be shunned by many hard core pinheads such as myself.
Anyway,
Lets get back to the market tanking !
Certainly in deep shit at the moment ![quoted image]
No grown ass man is lining up to play Pokémon.
Quoted from underlord:Used to be a running joke that Pinside was filled with those who could run Stern better.
Lately…there’s truth to it.
Can’t wait to see the fruits of the ‘big two’s’ labors.
Like watching a slow motion train wreck.
Stern would be bankrupt within 6-8 months if Pinside ran it. Straight fact!
Quoted from Rizmo:Well Stern needed to increase their sales in Canada somehow. Rush was a better choice than Celine Dion for a pinball game.
Why did Stern need to increase sales to Canada?
I would bet there is more Rush machines here in America. Not everyone from Canada automatically likes Rush.
Quoted from PinFever:Backglasses are over rated
Until you see them side by side.
Quoted from beltking:Just saying but I said black knight a month ago and no one believed me.
Need a new run of Star Wars toppers but do C-3PO head like black knight and we will be talking.
Imagine the possibilities with a Darth Vader moving head also.
Quoted from PinMonk:Monsters of Rock themed on the 80's Monsters of Rock tour would have a potentially awesome playlist and could have fun modes. All the smaller metal bands that would never get their own pin could finally be included.
1988 version was epic:
Metallica
Van Halen
Scorpions
Dokken
Kingdom come
Online says that was the lineup for the 1988 US tour, but for the Oakland show I feel like there were a few more bands in the Kingdom Come Tier. Unfortunately, I didn't save my ticket...
If you make the theme less literal, you can add in bands that toured Europe under the Monsters of Rock flag (which was many more bands and many more years).
Tickets were $25 for all that entertainment. The destruction started at 1:30
FF12B78C-15BA-4C02-8685-C6D9314FCED8 (resized).jpegQuoted from TreyBo69:Seems about time for a Borg rock pin
I’m willing to wait for Elwin to make Ozzy
Quoted from onemilemore:I really hope Journey is just a code name or short for Journey to the Center of the Earth or...literally anything else. Solid band, but I'm not sure that one moves many units these days.
Journey better be code name for Ozzy or another worthy band. This I think is just a terrible rumor
Quoted from Pinhead_:Ozzy / Sabbath pin yes please, easy money printer.
Rock pins pay the bills and they also sell worldwide, I’m still upset Stern gave Foo Fighters “Hard rock for moms” a machine before Ozzy
Quoted from pinmister:-You bought Foo because you are a music fan-not the layout-let's be real
Journey has some of the top selling albums and songs ever and compared to Foo Fighters they have a much wider audience. While it may not be for some-there classic timeless songs with great lyrics should make for a good pin. Now add in a good Eddy layout and they may have something on their hands. I do not think Wick will sell tons, Pokemon should kill it and Journey should do good as well.
Looking forward to flipping JAWS this week to truly judge it
Name 10 Journey tracks that bring high energy excitement to pinball.
Quoted from pinmister:I can't believe I have to defend one of the most iconic bands of all time with fantastic feel good lyrics that you can understand and have meaning.
Yawn
Quoted from pinmister:I can't believe I have to defend one of the most iconic bands of all time with fantastic feel good lyrics that you can understand and have meaning.
I like Pink Floyd, but let’s be real, the music isn’t for pinball and nether is Journey
Quoted from pinmister:Makes girls want to take off their pa^$6es
Old Boomer grandmothers maybe
Quoted from Rizmo:I could see Pokemon on location being a quarter magnet
Yes, maybe in the right location. But to be real, not many are going to buy this for home use.
Quoted from pinmister:Stern Schedule:
John Wick-John Borg-April 2024
Pokemon-Jack Danger-July 2024
Journey-Brian Eddy-October 2024
Godzilla Anniversary special edition premium-Keith Elwin-December 2024
Looks like my money is safe. I hope this isn’t true
Quoted from pinmister:So I accidently went to a Pokemon trading convention and my mind was blown by the amount of money being exchanged for cardboard trading cards. A couple of some of these collector cards are worth more than a Stern Pro. I did have the thought that it may attract some non-pinheads and could possible grow the hobby? On location I think it will kill it as many seem to have a childhood connection with it.
If Stern found a way to spit these cards out as some kind of prize for players I could see a potential to attract people who have no idea what a pinball machine is, but I only see this title as a location game and not so much as a private collector purchase
Quoted from pinmister:I think the days of redemption pinball is over. Too much added mechanical issues and a bit of a novelty other than places like Chuck E Cheese.
I do think if Stern implements some kind of special collector cards it will definitely help with potential sales. Pokemon peeps go crazy for that stuff.
The limited edition card idea is brilliant. There are people out there who would buy the machine not knowing nothing about pinball just for the card.
Quoted from kool1:I don't know if I can buy into this rumor. An all new Metallica doesn't make any sense for so many reasons. I mean anyone who wants one can get one (current Metallica is a good game) and there are so many other band pin licenses out there to capture new players for Stern. Not saying it won't happen but I think it will flop if it does no matter how good the game.
[quoted image]
Why would they attempt to ruin a masterpiece. If this rumor is true it’s dumb on Stern. Other titles like Ozzy, Van Halen would work better!
Quoted from pinmister:Wonder if Stern pays attention to these hype rumor threads to evaluate potential interest in a particular theme?
Not hearing much chatter on D & D or Wick? Journey-50/50, Pokemon-70%, Metallica-100%, Tony Hawk-50/50, HE MAN 50/50, Indy-70%, X-MEN 97-40%
Meanwhile at Stern... [quoted image]
I would hope Stern doesn’t read these threads. They are chock full of stupid
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:Monthly reminder, next Stern Cornerstone pin is due out on or about 18 May. Math and logic above. Top rumors include John Wick, Pokemon, X-Men97, He-Man, and Indiana Jones.
These rumors are lame. None of these titles are interesting.
Quoted from Haymaker:Pokemon is huge with everyone, not just boys and not just girls. I was just slightly too old when it first came out and I wasn't into it much. My younger brother was into it big time. As the years went on, I saw it continue to be big with the younger generation and older alike. Even people my age and older were into it after a while. I'm not some big pokemon stan, I played the classic gameboy games a little, but I was never a big fan. However, I guess I'm just not as out of touch as a lot of people here. Its HUGE. Do you see the prices people pay for some of the classic cards? Even the old games, which they made a ton of and are not considered rare at all, bring way better money than they should. Counterfeiters and scam artists alike work tirelessly to do black market pokemon stuff. Scalpers buy up all the stuff at the stores and resell before the general public can get to it. I mean, this stuff doesn't happen unless theres a gigtantic fanbase and people willing to spend money in said fanbase.
Sadly, I've lost faith in the pokemon rumor, I kind of don't think its happening, but if it does, it will be one of the biggest hits in a long time. Both at home and on location.
The hype on this game is insane. This game might do ok for an operator at a family fun center, no grown ass man is buying Pokémon for the home arcade.
Quoted from Haymaker:Yes let me just give you proof of a secret thing that we're not supposed to know about yet. Don't believe me? Fine. Just remember this in a couple weeks.
I doubt you know anything. Even if it’s John Wick, why would you do that to your trusted source?
Quoted from Esoteric_rt:Any guesses when the next game will be announced? Can't be too far away now
Apparently the experts here believe it’s John Wick. What I want to know is what’s next after that?
Black Knight SOR pro is Sterns most underrated machine! I paid $5,900 with the topper. Great heavy metal intensity that goes well in any rock pin lineup.
Quoted from ripit:How about a juke box pin. Loaded with choices similar to choices you have with Elton. There are a lot o songs out there that would get you fired up and not cost a arm and a leg. Get some variety that way. Better yet you load your own tunes. Jukebox hero for a title. It would work for me.
Licensing nightmare
Quoted from kool1:Not exactly what I would do but Motley Crue should be made. Music is PERFECT for pinball!
I would buy one almost for sure.Definitely no recent video should be added LOL
Plenty of great early videos to choose from. I definitely think this title would work, hopefully they don’t use anything recent. When I fired up Guns N Roses for the first time my wife said “hey, I don’t want to see fat Axl! And who are these other people? Hopefully they hand draw them, fat Vince Neil isn’t a good look.
