Quoted from Psw757:

Goonies would be a must have for me

Goonies is my ultimate dream theme, that movie never fails to instantly transport me back to my childhood. With full assets, music and callouts I am 100% in.

#8106 2 years ago
Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

Stern is the leading manufacturer of pinball machines based on nature’s finest reptiles. Stern transitioned to living a fully-sustainable, reptile lifestyle brand early this year. Jurassic Park 3 was launched in early 2020, based on wildly popular dinosaur reptiles, so cuddly. The next piece dropped in June, when TMNT pinball showcased everybody’s favorite turtle reptiles. Wondering what could possibly top this? Word is Stern’s next blockbuster pinball will feature the loveable Godzilla reptile, where death and destruction closely follow. Stern has staked a claim for declaring 2020 to be the year of the reptile. What can we expect from them going forward? Perhaps Crocodile Hunter, Famous Snake Handlers or Angry Birds pinball for 2021? As a lover of reptiles, I can’t wait.

2. Fright Night(1985)
3. The Thing(1982)

5. Superman(1978)

Great list!

Here’s the first after market mod. Upgrade your useless silver dildo to the silver seducer, actual vibrating motion!
Couldn’t even make the blimp some kind of animated ball lock or even a moving target like GB Slimer? Seriously Stern are you for real?
Steal the mech off iron man, put in a few drop target banks instead of the cheap ass bars people have been calling you out on, Job done, that’ll be 10k please. PISS OFF!

Quoted from TreyBo69:

Elvira is basically done. So Lyman has to be working on something.
It’d be fun if it was an Elwin game. I don’t mind Lyman staying on KaPow games if that means he gets the budget to cut up hours and hours of clips for his games. I wonder if Elwin would ever do a KaPow title with Lyman? Then they’d have the toys and lots of Godzilla/James Bond/whatever movies to work with.

Elwin and Lyman is the dream team and if they land together on James Bond then that’s the trifecta the holy bloody trinity, I’d sell a kidney to finance that game.

I currently own The Hobbit and have owned LOTR in the past, which remains my favourite pin to this day.
I’ve been patiently waiting for it’s vaulting so that I can have them side by side.
If they do it right with an LCD and movie clips and revamp the path of the dead it’s a must buy for me and will be bolted to the floor.
Could make Path of the dead interactive like Indy Path of adventure, or even just use an LCD display to project holographic ghosts.
All that with a great art package too and it would be incredible and sell massive numbers.

Thanks. That sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. I can say with some certainty hardly anyone outside of America will know wtf this is.

Welk has got to be a code name for something else because as a theme it would be received about as well as a fart in a lift.

Quoted from Quicksilver1:

It's been a cool minute since we've had anything hockey related in the pinball world. Anyone else think Slap Shot would be a worthy title, or would a 1977 hockey movie theme be lost on today's consumers?
[quoted image]

The Hanson’s. Love this movie!

Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

The art style used in Superman '78 would look sharp as a pinball machine but if they make another Batman pin i would love to see Zombie Yeti's take on Batman TAS.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Batman TAS would be amazing if done right. The series was groundbreaking at the time and still holds up as the greatest animated series ever made.
Fantastic stories, groundbreaking animation, iconic music and sound effects and an entire gallery of rouges to battle against.
I understand people’s scepticism of yet another Bat Pin but it’s a 100% dream theme for me.
In an ideal world, we’d all get the themes & licences we dream of.

Quoted from NoQuarters:

@ cpr9999
Excited about this title but I'm starting to wonder if this will not be a regular cornerstone and just be released on the cheaper 'Home Pin' architecture. Could be these are aimed at Assisted Living Facilities, Senior Residential Complexes and such. I'd still want one though even if it's just the 'Pin' version.
Hope it's a regular cornerstone game and I can finally buy my first LE. I usually take a Pro of most releases and have a couple premiums and a few nice vaults, but this title would be definitely worth taking a flyer and going all in for an LE.
Appreciate you posting the leaked pre production pic earlier. Looks like it will be really nice !
This will be a surprise winner for Stern.

Rumour is, the LE model comes with a free set of dentures.

Big trouble in little China

I’d like to see the Russell/Carpenter trifecta

2) The Thing
3) Escape From New York

#14184 2 years ago
Quoted from sataneatscheese:

I obviously have no idea. On the Pro Godzilla side, there is Japanese and there are teeth spikes in here. On the not Godzilla side there is one letter in there, a G and the font is wrong.
Coming out of left field, this is the exact color scheme of Judge Dredd... and Stern is known to repeat themes done previously.
[quoted image][quoted image]

This is a great shout! Colours are spot on.
I’d love to see another Dredd pin.

#14325 2 years ago
Quoted from Vino:

Godzilla could be hilarious.
Make it right Stern!
[quoted image]

So bad it’s insanely good, I need this in my life. Come on Stern!

#14326 2 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

I feel like Lyman is the only Stern employee who could make goos use of the assets. If it ends up being like Munsters, where they had the assets but were criminally underused, or JP/AIQ, where they had almost no assets, it’ll be a waist of time IMO.

100% agree.
If Lyman is on this and gives it his magic touch, with the same level of theme integration and attention to detail as BM66, then it could really be a fantastically fun game.

#14329 2 years ago
Quoted from Vino:

Anyone who has experienced Gappa angry in Elvira HOH knows the masters potential w/Godzilla.

I wish, I’m dying to play HOH! Unfortunately I think there are only about 10 in the UK, and all in private collectors homes, zero on location that I know of.

Quoted from Phbooms:

I hope not to but have heard hints. Not really into Godzilla either but never know could be good. Would love a James Bond theme, hopefully by end 2021.

Same for me. Bond is much more my kind of theme, crossing my fingers and hoping for it this year (all Bonds not just Craig in No Time To Die)
Still excited to see a Toho Godzilla, as I think it has potential to be a fun pin.

#14464 2 years ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

Now if they did this, it would be an amazing game structure, just as it was for the video game industry, becoming a must have game of fun for 4 players.

Quoted from Darscot:

Bond is an interesting theme, I just don't think they can afford it. If they managed to get both the assets and do a playfield with some kind of crazy bond gadget or a car that has an ejector seat or pop out machine gun ball shooter it would be amazing. I just think we end up with some bare bones license on a machine that could be anything. I would actually prefer a fully licensed retro Goldeneye 64 pin that focused on amazing 4 player modes and that great soundtrack. Drop a Goldeneye with 4 player online and I can't give them money fast enough. LOL

You’re right with the bare bones call, much cheaper for Stern to go that route, with an original story and their in house animation team like JP.
Too much to ask for them to actually secure the proper assets and actually do the theme some justice.
For me there’s a lack of immersion when you’re playing through an animated story.
I don’t want to feel like I’m playing a computer game when I’m playing pinball.
I want Connery, Moore, Craig etc saying iconic lines in iconic scenes from the catalogue of amazing bond movies.
I’m still crossing my fingers that Kamikow can pull off the licensing deal, I’d be first in line for a Kapow Bond with all the assets and coded by Lyman. World under glass and 100% theme integration, count me in!

The list of cool toys & mechs are endless with a property that is build around cool gadgets.....
1) Jaws metal smile physical ball lock.
2) Aston Martin ejector seat VUK
3) Goldfinger laser diagonal captive ball (like Williams Indy)

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!
#14468 2 years ago
Quoted from skink91:

Nothing would kill a feeling of immersion into a Bond ‘world under glass’ more for me than having 4-5 different faces that are supposed to be the same person. Just my opinion.

You’ve got a point, but I feel like you could have fun with it, if coded right. Choose your Bond!
No matter what age everyone has their favourite Bond that’s the beauty of it.

#14666 2 years ago

I think the next Kapow game whenever it’s released will be Bond (Brian Eddy design, Lyman Sheats code)
Chris Franchi said on the super awesome pinball show that Joe Kaminkow commissioned him to do some work on a real life Bond car project. Joe bought an Aston Martin and was kitting it out as a real life Bond car.
The guy is obviously a huge Bond fan, it’ll happen.
Fingers crossed, can’t wait!

#14742 2 years ago
Quoted from dr_nybble:

My first downvote in almost 2000 posts must have touched a nerve
(Also from a NOOB!).

Personal preference. Jaws for me has potential but not that fussed, back to the future I really couldn’t give a crap about but I never really liked the movie, even though I was born in 81.
But I know a lot of people want these licenses and I hope they get their wish.
I know what it’s like to lust after a theme for years, I’ve wanted Goonies/Big Trouble in Little China/Little Shop Of Horrors ever since I got into the hobby 12 years ago.
Until that day comes, I wait patiently and my money stays in the bank.
Hopefully one day we’ll all get the themes we want, there’s enough companies churning out machines now days.
I wouldn’t down vote anyone for not wanting a theme I wanted.

#14761 2 years ago
Quoted from pinballwil:

Maybe Japan, but not in Europe.

I’m in the UK and I’d prefer the Toho Godzilla.
The new movies are terrible, don’t have a lot of faith for the 2021 movie either.

#14798 2 years ago

Quoted from fnord:

I'd prefer The Thing but a They Live with UV acting like glasses would be sweet

That would be really cool. Maybe a good theme for Spooky?
Like Rolls Royce and RA77 said above, nearly all Carpenters work would make great pins.
-Halloween
-Escape from New York
-The Thing
-Big Trouble In Little China
-They Live
Even Assault On Precinct 13, although not sure what toys it would have?

#14829 2 years ago
Quoted from Rolls-Royce:Oneballjab, I think that the Ice Cream truck should be there in the playfield ... I must say that that scene shocked me when I saw that Movie, I was about 5-6 yy and when Frank Doubleday(Romero in Escape From New York) killed the girl, I wasn’t expecting that cruel scene lol

Not bad for a movie shot on a $100,000 budget. Ice cream scene still shocks me now!
Makes me laugh every time they play potatoes for who has to go and Hotwire the car. That would have to be a mode
CHOLO 5 Drop target bank is a must as well.

I'm hoping for a miracle from Stern...something original please!?
Since that's not going to happen, I'll second the idea of a Das Boot pin. A tense, WWII, U-Boat survival theme where the 'Hunter Becomes the Hunted,' and taken from the critically acclaimed anti war movie would be awesome (especially with the soundtrack and some special effects)!

Very interesting idea, WWII pin could be great!
Could you imagine if they did BOB, one of the greatest pieces of TV ever made.

Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

The meaning and pathos behind the original Godzilla is interesting, creative and compelling. The very fact that it’s been reduced repeatedly to giant monsters beating the crap out of each other is why I’ve lost interest. It’s boring, formulaic and cliche. If that’s your jam, knock yourself out.
More popular than WOZ? By what measure? I’m not disputing you, but I’d like to understand your reasoning.

By what measure is Big Trouble In Little China absurd?
I realise it’s a bit of a cheesy movie but that’s part of its charm. It’s a hugely underrated 80’s cult Classic.

1. Goonies
2. Big Trouble In Little China
3. Bladerunner
4. Mad Max
5. The Running Man
6. The Warriors
7. Die Hard

9. Sin City

17. Beetlejuice
18. The 5th Element
19. The Matrix
20. Conan
21. Evil Dead
22. Gremlins
23. Home Alone
24. Batman The Animated Series
25. The Simpson’s Treehouse Of Horrors
26. Archer

I know let’s make Venom comic book pin! WHY?????
And before all you comic nerds start, I’m one of you, I love comics! I read/collect them and I’m even working my way towards publishing my own comic.
But the fact is these machines now cost as much as a car and for that we should be getting dream theme licenses with full assets, clips, music, sound bites the works. Every one of these machines should be getting the in depth coding love that Lyman gave BM66 and EHOH, an all access pass to the film/show assets.
Anyway fingers crossed for Bond, I’m holding out hope KAPOW/Kamikow will deliver the goods.

On a side note if any of you are interested in signing up for my comic Kickstarter, launching in 2022 then tap on the link https://kickstarter.com/projects/savage-streets/savage-streets
Savage Streets is a gritty crime noir story set in an ambiguous time period but at times with a very 1970’s feel. Detective Jake Savage, a cop who doesn’t like playing by the rules is up against a serial killer who likes playing with matches.

Here’s some cover & page art…

Quoted from Sako-TRG:

I also think peeps make the mistake in thinking, just because it’s a good movie, it will make a good transition into a pin.
My take on your list above …

It’s not just a random collection of good movies, I think there’s something for everyone on that list, I’ve heard most mentioned in threads on multiple occasions and there’s bags of potential for each and every one IMO.
You got a point about good movies not transitioning though, I mean Once Upon A Time In America, Godfather 1&2, Shawshank Redemption, Apocalypse Now are masterpieces but they’d no doubt make lousy pins.
Two thumbs up for Animal House, can we add Blazing Saddles & The Three Amigos while we’re at it?
Have to respectfully disagree on Goonies though. Can’t work out why it’s so marmite but to each his own I absolutely love that film , takes me right back to my childhood.

Wow...I'm not an art critic but you've got some great skills IMO. Awesome art and thanks for sharing! Hmm...is any pinball manufacturer looking for an artist?

Haha thank you very much, but it’s not my work.
I can only draw that good in my dreams. The artists name is San Espina and I’m very lucky to have him doing the page art for me, I’m just the writer/creator.

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!

Quoted from mnpinball:

Mike Zeck art Era on Punisher is the best !

As someone who is bemoaning the Venom rumour as just another uninspired, lazy/safe comic theme choice, I gotta admit I’d love to have a Punisher pin.
If that makes me a hypocrite or means I have double standards, then so be it! Haha

Quoted from J85M:

I’ll take the building mech from Godzilla if it saves stern some money putting it in another pin if it means we can finally get a die hard pin! Nakatomi Plaza Multiball!!!

Great idea! That would re purpose nicely as Nakatomi building. It’s not Christmas until you’ve seen Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Tower.

Quoted from Sako-TRG:

Yes, I’m a Led Zep music fan.
On release of the pin I scoffed and shat all over it.
I got the opportunity to play a premium at a festival.
Holy smokes, it was an amazing shooter.
Kinda wish I got an LE.

I’m a huge fan! I love to get the led out Haha
Like you I crapped all over it after the reveal and gameplay videos. But the proof is in the pudding so I’m gonna have to track one down and shoot it.
I still think it’s a bit uninspired with that static dildo of a zeppelin in the corner, missed opportunity for a great physical ball lock IMO.

WooHoo
Big Trouble in Little China is on , it's been said like 7000 times before but I'll say it again , someone make this pin .
[quoted image]

Goonies & BTILC are 1 and 2 in my dream theme list. Must buys when/if they’re ever made. They would both sell craploads!

Quoted from hiker2099:

It has been a good bit of time since we have seen a "Game Show" pin. How about "The Price is Right" with both Bob Barker and Drew Carey Callouts.

The Running Man was a game show.

Quoted from screaminr:

I'm sure you could make a great pin out of those themes .
Maybe Stern isn't the company to do it , having said that , they did a great job with Lord of the Rings .

Good point. I’ve actually owned both LOTR and The Hobbit and Keith Johnson’s code on both absolutely killed it, theme integration on a whole other level.
I’m taking it back about Godfather, especially now you’re hitting me with the rumour it’s potentially in the works at JJP.
I say bring it on! Fingers crossed Keith on code.

Quoted from Sako-TRG:

Agree, Max Zorin is my favourite all time Bond Villain in A View to a Kill.

A view to a kill and Live and let die were awesome Bonds IMO. Walken as Max Zorin and Yaphet Kotto as Kananga/Mr Big were great villains. Plus both had good bond songs. A view to a kill is mine and my Mrs favourite Bond. Bit cringe as Roger was pushing 60 and slept with a record 4 women, but great Bond with an awesome villain.
1) I’d love to see the rumoured DB5 as a VUK ejector seat (cue Goldfinger clip)
2) A diagonal laser captive ball stack like Williams Indiana Jones (cue Goldfinger clip again)
3) A rail that diverts or passes through Jaws mouth. Complete his metal grin by locking 3 balls (cue Moonraker cable bite clip/The Spy Who Loved Me smile clip)

Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Connery model features a woman bash toy?
I love Bond and agree Connery was the best but he unfortunately alienated many with his personal views.
Many Bonds, modern Bond or a generic Bond world theme maybe but I don't see a Connery exclusive theme being as marketable.

1) Slash was arrested for domestic violence 1999. Billy Dee Williams was arrested for battery also in 1999. I don’t see GNR or Star Wars/Mando having marketability issues.
I don’t agree with domestic violence in any way. In fact I think men who raise their hands against women are cowardly scum!
However the man said something a little stupid 35 years ago, let’s not get carried away.
Having said that everyone here is welcome to give me their GNR’s, Star Wars or Mando’s if they’re outraged enough by this news.
Pretty sure there’s also been accusations/charges against Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes and Edward Furlong so I’ll also accept your Mavericks, Lethal Weapon 3’s, Demolition Men and T2’s… worth a try! Haha

#24482 1 year ago

I’m very excited at the possibility of a Connery and Moore, Bond machine. I think having both of them would be amazing!
It would be a great idea to have a golden ball that only releases when playing Goldfinger and The Man With The Golden Gun modes. Ooh or a ceramic ball with the Spectre symbol on that releases for Thunderball, like the TZ powerball. You’d have to accompany the modes with the Shirley, Tom and Lulu theme songs.
If they do this thing right it could be a very expensive 2022 for yours truly.

Don’t think Stern would do it, but I’d love to see a pin based on The Warriors. Have the DJ guiding you where to shoot.

Bop your way back to Coney Island. The Warriors is one of my top 3 too niche they’ll never make it themes.

Quoted from J85M:

Being a little on the younger side my theme choices are pretty different.
Would love to see Mortal Kombat pin from Stern take the structure of Deadpool and put it on steroids more characters to fight, fatalities, animations lifted from the game, awesome!
[quoted image]
John Wick would make a killer theme super face paced scenes that would be perfect for pinball, Ironman on steroids with magnets making the game fight you.
[quoted image]
Dredd would also be cool, great film massively underrated cheap licence and get Karl Urban back again for custom call-outs.
[quoted image]

I’d definitely be onboard with Dredd. Rumour was Urban was going to return for a TV series continuation called Mega City One. Don’t know if that’s still in the works.

Quoted from J85M:

He is super passionate about the character and tried to push a sequel for years without much luck, if they had not pushed the 3D so much I think it would have done a lot better but the marketing was horrific for the movie.
Karl wouod definitely do custom call-outs he’s said multiple times he would return to the character any chance he got.
Speaking of Urban The Boyz would make quite a funny pin.[quoted image]

The Boys would be awesome!
Doom Patrol is another show I’m really loving at the moment.

Would be a genius move to mould the pops like beer bottles and have this clip play when hitting them.

Genius.. lol
I love warriors the movie, must have seen it a gazillion times btw, but man, some thoughts in the pinball community are absolute duff beer.

It would only be annoying the first 2000 times, then you’d top yourself Haha. Ok you got a point!
Can I redeem myself with baseball furies bat shooter rod?

Quoted from jpd632:

A Bruce Lee pin or an Enter the Dragon Pin would be a must buy for me. Lots of material for game. Have Bruce’s kiai be the sound when you hit the bumpers, gotta have “Bullshit Mr Han Man” as the call out when you drain, “O’Hara has disgraced us” when you win a mini game. Have the scene when Lee infiltrated where they make drugs and beat up like 100 as the multi ball video. So many callouts. Music is perfect. Love this artwork style for the playfield. I know it’s not a “family” game but not everything has to be for kids. [quoted image]

These clips when you hit the drop targets.

I think Bond looks like an amazing game. Let’s face it! 007 is a top tier license. A “license to kill” for, you might say, and Gomez definitely looks like he’s done it justice.
Still, this is me every time Stern doesn’t announce Goonies…

It can be done , Stern got all the assets they wanted for Godzilla , Elvira and Star Wars .
JJP got the assets for all three Hobbit movies .
Spooky had access to everything for Rick and Morty .

I’ve owned The Hobbit and the theme integration on that thing is off the scale, I mean crazy good!
Undoubtedly due to the fact that they had carte blanche with the assets for the entire trilogy.
