It's almost to the point of..... who cares!!!!!

#25 3 years ago

So Stern is finally moving out of the 80s..... into the 70s.

#36 3 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

Hopefully Stern will use the time to get color displays

Well, if they are going with a color display, the next title will no doubt be Wizards.

#75 3 years ago

Pinball Resource.

#83 3 years ago

Reading thru this thread there's a 99.99 % chance it has nothing to do with anything from the 21st century.

#169 3 years ago

Th Bridge on the River Kwai.

#172 3 years ago
Quoted from bigdaddy07:

even though its not relevant anymore

C'mon! Not relevant anymore is Stern's bread and butter these days.

Outdated licenses bought dirt cheap!

#199 3 years ago
Quoted from someoneelse:

Born before 70 you'd be 16+ when Goonies came out and with 16 your focus is on girls - not kiddie movies.

I just don't see the appeal of rehashing kiddie or any other movies from the 80s anymore. Even being a kid from the late 60s and 70s when media aimed towards kids was much better, I don't feel the need. I had a decent childhood, I don't need any pricey memorials to it. The memories are enough.

#201 3 years ago
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

Inside info said 100% Aerosmith in the Fall.

Jeez Louise! I'm sure somebody will buy it. But as big an Aerosmith fan I was in 1976, I outgrew it a long time ago. Pinball really is hanging by a thread now, isn't it..

#203 3 years ago
Quoted from Hazoff:

I agree with kiddie part but the 70's and 80's for me was the pinnacle of great cinema and the best themes to me exist in that era

There were a lot of great movies that I still enjoy now and then. But why for pinball? You watch the movie, then put it away until you get the urge again. Which may not be for months. For me a retro pinball theme should represent something more than just a 30 year old movie.

Look at Creech. They made it a theme within a theme that represented a culture in time, the drive in movie culture, and ended up with a classic pinball machine, not just some old movie poster. That kind of creativity seems very lacking today.

Quoted from Hazoff:

now every guy who starts balding shaves his head, its like a giant army of dickheads out there, but I regress.

Mine is still hanging on my shoulders.... whats left of it.

#206 3 years ago

I think an outer space theme not based on any movie could be awesome. There is so much material to work with. Kind of an original science fiction theme. I guess Big Bang bar is the last time that was tried.

#216 3 years ago
Quoted from someoneelse:

how about Logan's Run (there are rumors about a remake, so it would fulfill the "Stern Criteria").

Logan's Run was classic! Saw it in the theatre when it came out. Not sure very many of these 80s kids have ever heard of it though. And that in itself may be one of the top Stern criterias.

#218 3 years ago

There was plenty of eye candy in that movie.

#220 3 years ago

We were 13 years old and won tickets to see Logans Run from a radio station. We rode our bikes all the way to Newport Beach to see it and our tickets were supposed to be on will call. We get there and nope! They didn't know what we were talking about. Plus I think it was an R rated movie to boot. But the manager was cool and let us in to see it...

Edit- 14 years old. Time flies when you're having fun.

#225 3 years ago

How hard would it be to license Johnny Sokko?

The original band with all the original members?

#288 3 years ago
Quoted from Ripley:

Do you think Star Wars will be next?

I hope not. Not another outdated theme.

How bout something people living in the now might want?

#291 3 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

You're wrong on this one, Odie.

Nope. Star Wars came out in 1977 and petered out after Jedi in 1983 and they should have left it at that.

And there have already been enough Star Wars pinball machines. Take them or leave them.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Target date: March 2017, by many accounts (after Aerosmith).

You can keep your Aerosmith pinball machine too. This pinball industry has become a joke.

#293 3 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

This is Stern's chance to do the original trilogy justice for once.

Then in 5 years they can give it another shot, if they are still around. But shouldn't there be a couple more Star Trek pinball machines in the meantime? Oh and of course Bon Jovi.

#295 3 years ago
Quoted from Hazoff:

Yes, A dedicated Wrath of Khan pin or one based on the entire film series, Vger needs the information from the carbon units, I love that.

Before they do any more Star Wars, perhaps they should do a better tribute to the

original Star Trek series than their parent company Data East did?

#298 3 years ago

If they can't get Shatner or Harrison Ford to sign on, they've always got that hillbilly to do stand ins on the call outs.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Never...EVER...say that name again.

I'm actually surprised nobody here chimed in saying Bon Jovi should be the next music pin.

#300 3 years ago

He is after all still very relevant.

#304 3 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

And has hair like a middle-aged lesbian.
And sings like he's constipated.

But he's got the power to turn back time...

Isn't that what most on here want?

#306 3 years ago
Quoted from SuS:

If Stern makes Aerosmith, I hope it's just a re-branding of The Rolling Stones, and they replace "Mick on a stick" with the head of Steven Tyler. The entire purpose of the game would be to bash him in the face, maybe knock off his wig and makeup. I might actually play that a few times.

Maybe they will re brand Kiss instead. His mouth is the only one as big as Gene's.

Quoted from zsciaeount:

Stern is going to continue capitalizing on the nostalgia factor.

Quoted from Pickle:

Aerosmith is old and so is AC/DC.

Quoted from Roostking:

What art work could you possibly use for Van Halen lol? Album covers? David Lee Roths ass less chaps?

By the time they release and finish the code, Roth will probably look like this.

I'm going with Lawrence Welk.

#369 3 years ago
Quoted from gregh43:

Lawrence Welk you serious?

Sure why not. He stayed relevant a lot longer than all the rest of the old man bands considered.

Shoot! I was hoping they would do a Rushmore pin first.

So, what's it going to be... Jaws or Aerosmith?

present day companies might not want to push the envelope on what they do put in a game.

That explains Aerosmith then.

#419 3 years ago

And while we are there, wouldn't this make a great modern pinball theme? A pinball themed after the Johnny Depp movie based on the true dealings of George Jung and Pablo Escabar.

They really should get to that one while the band is still hot.
