Psw757 I heard Stern TMNT is next... would be sick if they crushed it with this title. Also...can Jersey Jack make a Pee Wees Playhouse pin already. It’s the perfect theme to be integrated into pinball.

#7718 3 years ago

Harry Potter is L A M E...and so is Zeppelin imo. The next Stern is most definitely TMNT.

#7721 3 years ago

TMNT will be a mega seller. The franchise has stayed relevant from its inception until today. One of the most successful comic franchises of all time. I totally understand why people born prior to 1978 wouldn’t care about it...but it will sell huge and it will KILL on location

Quoted from Jackontherocks:

Which is a lame title too

#7727 3 years ago

Zombie Yeti is doing the art for TMNT and it will be based on 90’s TMNT (so think Deadpool style) Game features 4 player co op mode and Internet connectivity to play vs or coop with other players around the globe. Even if you think the theme is lame this game has HUGE potential aaaand they have had a few extra months to flesh out the code prior to release. Should be announced in the next few weeks.

Quoted from Sinistarrett:

Turtles could be cool if it was in the style of the original Eastman/Laird comics, gritty and a little dark, the turtles drank beer and cursed occasionally. Bad guys got violently killed. It was pretty hardcore for a non-underground comic, actually.
Speaking just for myself, anything fashioned after the brightly colored pizza eating kid show turtles would be pretty lame and also really juvenile.

#7729 3 years ago

Corrected: It’s likely not Lyman, I think it may be Dwight actually...which I personally do not have a prob with... even though people hate his code for some reason. Lots of info and speculation on the hype thread

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-stern-hype-thread/page/15

Quoted from TigerLaw:

The Stern dream team right there. Who is the rumored designer for TMNT?

#7735 3 years ago

He-Man would make an incredible pin, should absolutely be made someday. My dream themes would be Army of Darkness, Goonies, They Live and Big Trouble in Little China but I doubt those will ever happen.

Quoted from Jackontherocks:

Yes might sell but not into teenage Mutant ninja buttheads as I remember someone referring to them back in my high school days. I had a friend and we would walk to the bus and he always wanted to watch the cartoon and I would say let’s go you Teenage Butthead. I thought He-Man or GI Joe would be better in this era and more popular.

#7737 3 years ago

Haaaaaaaaa for real...the whole cartoon plays out like an animated soft core gay porn. BUT...the Toy line predated the cartoon and design wise was one of the coolest most successful toy lines of the 80’s.

Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Try watching Heman now.......that dude love him some D

#7742 3 years ago

There is no difference between TMNT and Marvel stuff. It’s all just classic comic book stuff. So how would you account for grown men buying a Spidermam or an X-men haha.

Quoted from noob-a-tron:

I stopped being 12 when i turned 13. No thanks.

#7749 3 years ago

82’ here and I’ll likely add TMNT to my home lineup of TSPP, GB & Rick and Morty. I’m fuc#in grown and I dig cartoons. Boomers who only buy NASCAR and dad rock pins can Fight me IDGAF haha.

Quoted from delt31:

'81 here and when I read people saying TMNT is lame or a terrible theme I remember how many old guys we have.
Tmnt is going to be fucking awesome. We've had enough old man themes like Munsters.
It's game time fellas. Time to usher in the new.

#7751 3 years ago

Same here, I wouldn’t throw money at it based on theme alone. But if the various rumors about new mechs, co-op play and internet connectivity are true then TMNT could be game changer for sure. A great pin is a great pin, regardless of theme.

Quoted from mbrave77:

81 here as well. TMNT was my thing for years. Still wont know if itll be my next NIB though until I see it. I hope they build premiums first because of the operators being in a tough spot right now.

#7779 3 years ago

Interest in a pin based off the worst plagarist rock band in the history of modern music: -1000

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Give a shit factor for turtles....0
Waiting patiently for Zeppelin....100

#7781 3 years ago

Honestly...English white men profiting off of the musical ingenuity of American Delta Blues musicians not to mention everything stole from contemporary musicians of their time. If Stern puts out a Led Zep pin they won’t be able to include any “original music “ because they never wrote any hahaha. They are better off making a Muddy Waters pin! (End rant)

#7785 3 years ago

And then the realization that his pedo activity was part of his ritual occultism practices.

Quoted from Shinemyballz:

Don't forget Jimmy page the pedophile.

#7787 3 years ago

Only one rock pin needs to be made...

BLACK SABBATH

Quoted from RayGun:

Movie pins - Scarface, Jaws, The Pink Panther, Cheech and Chong, Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes (hey, I'd like to catch the Roadrunner/Speedy/Buggs, or run a coyote into a cliff wall).
Music - Judas Priest, Slayer, Ozzy, a Hendrix LE w/ alotta purple on it machine gunnin', I'd dig that, a Van Halen - get the party started, (Iced Earth has great music not known I guess) and a Rock Festival Pin (music from each generation, going across the globe, 60's -Monterey, Woodstock, Newport, 70's Isle of White, 80's - US Festival, 90's Lallapolooza, Monsters of Rock, to current such as Coachella, Waken, Download Fest, etc).
and another original theme that just hit me, how 'bout "Space Force", I d like a theme about teching it up on into space (starships and lasers man) based on our new military branch, why not?! And a Halo - but then, people might be like, "man, I'd rather be palying Halo?" Tallyho

#7803 3 years ago

I would love an Evil Dead Army of Darkness pin, Goonies and an Adventure Time pin. But those will likely never be made. Such great themes for Pinball.

#7805 3 years ago

Army of Darkness would truly be THE SHIT. Imagine all the call outs. GAHD. Top dream theme right here.

Quoted from gecko157:

Has to be Borg if this ever happens. I want a Deadite bash toy! No fan layout nonsense on this title.
Right flipper chainsaw, left flipper boomstick!!!
Do it already Stern!!!

#7834 3 years ago

It’s technically rape, moving on...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/decider.com/2019/07/26/revenge-of-the-nerds-rape-scene-regret/amp/

Quoted from screaminr:

That's the only reason I used it , if you're gonna throw around ageist insults , I thought fair enough . I try to avoid controversy these days but I feel this issue should be addressed .
Revenge of the Nerds is a about people being picked on , put down , trodden on in society and standing up for themselves , and is a feel-good movie nothing to do about rape .

#7836 3 years ago

Sex under false pretenses as depicted in the film is technically rape. It doesn’t matter if she married the guy afterwards or what. You’re being ignorant....that’s on you. I’m done with this conversation.

Quoted from screaminr:

Betty never complained and enjoyed the experience . She was of age and never filed a complaint , so technically it is not rape .
Nice to hear you're looking out for her though .

#7900 3 years ago

NEVER

Quoted from Psw757:

So when will we see Led Zep?

-1
#7906 3 years ago

It’s either Led Zep or Godzilla after TMNT ... I’d be more happy with Godzilla personally.

Quoted from Psw757:

Your right about the band I guess but it is rumored to be next so are we looking at aug or oct is what I’m asking.

#7907 3 years ago

Hahaha EXACTLY THIS

Quoted from BulkOfTheSeries:

underage girls and other bands's riffs and lyrics.

#7989 3 years ago

Hmmm the TMNT brand precedes JP by a decade and has been popular and super successful in toys, television, film and print for about 30 years with few periods of pause. I’d say it is most definitely a larger franchise.

Quoted from yancy:

Agree to disagree I guess.

#8016 3 years ago

If we get a Toho Godzilla from Keith next I’m gonna have a prooooblem... gonna need to own that 1000%

#8049 3 years ago

IMDN was originally designed to be an Archer pin but the license became stale. There will never be an Archer pin. Very unfortunate.

Quoted from RA77:

Well if Bond is on the way ?
Perhaps a review from Archer will help ?
KME's Archer Pin would go H2H with Spookys R&M easy.
Stern Archer would be the only LE to get me in, Dimples and all !
[quoted image]

#8061 3 years ago

My guess is he's probably looking for a Pokemon pin. That’s gonna be a no for me dawg haha

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

What would that be for example?

#8077 3 years ago

A Futurama pin could be amazing...I’d be a potential buyer.

Quoted from Yokimato:

I was really hoping for a Futurama pin but given the R&M and now turtles (both also great), I don’t see it happening.
A new bond pin works too

#8090 3 years ago

Zelda would be amazing. Also Goonies > BTTF

Quoted from kell:

I'd love/buy either Goonies or BTTF, and video game pins would be fantastic: God of War, GTA, Zelda, etc. Endless possibilities.

What are the chances that this is TOHO GODZILLA? Got my fingers crossed.

#9427 3 years ago

Ehhh, I prefer the classic Japanese Godzilla. Historically Hollywood has not done the franchise justice. Stern...Give the people CLASSIC GODZILLA! DESTROY ALL MONSTERS OR BUST!

Quoted from Charlemagne1987:

That would be cool! However, I'm hoping if it is GODZILLA it will be to coincide with the next movie, which comes out in May 2021 and is entitled GODZILLA VS KONG. Imagine the possibilities of a pin that has two classic monsters battling each other. That would truly be EPIC!!!

#9451 3 years ago

Same...that Wonder Woman flick SUCKED. I’d be fully on board for a DC SUPERPOWERS pin though

Quoted from frankmac:

Not sure how I feel about wonder women.

#9527 3 years ago

PRAYING that this is not another lame ass superhero pin.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

That would make a lot of sense coming out next week.
Simultaneous release and all the assets.
Trailer just out.

#9531 3 years ago

I would be very pleasantly suprised if we were getting a... BATEA?

Quoted from nogoodnames222:

So I've been kinda out of the loop, but Zombie Yeti teased Bill + Ted artwork a while back, right? And Stern's supposedly making an announcement tomorrow, the day the new Bill + Ted movie comes out?
Is there any reason people aren't thinking it might be this? Just surprised I've seen Queen + Avengers get more traction. [quoted image]

#9644 3 years ago

This will sell well ...but BOY am I 100% over Superhero themed pins. It’s a PLAGUE.

25
#9651 3 years ago

Lol...I’ve got news for you. Marvel shit IS definitely kiddie stuff.

Quoted from Indusguys:

At least it's not kiddy theme, like Wonka, TMNT, and Toy Story.

-21
#9668 3 years ago

I cannot like this comment enough. These Hollywood Marvel films are rife with right wing bootlicking propaganda.

Quoted from Chet_Hardbody:

Hah, pass on having anything Marvel in my house. Not into the American military complex propaganda.

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!
#9671 3 years ago

Yeaaaaa...shooting laser beams out of your eyes is definitely adults doing adult things haha. Too each their own man...It’s just not my thing.

Quoted from Indusguys:

I meant all the actors are adults doing adult things not kiddy things, Like the other themes I mentioned. Thanks for laughing out loud at me.

#9688 3 years ago

TOHO GODZILLA.... I have it on authority that STERN cannot make LED Zeppelin because Zep stole all of their music from Delta blues musicians and English contemporaries. Too many outstanding lawsuits. Sorry Dad rockers.

Quoted from transprtr4u:

Well seems like a let down... what's Stern's next pin?

#9693 3 years ago

It is definitely Elwin

Quoted from cooked71:

I hope it’s not Elwin. I really don’t want to buy this theme.

#9832 3 years ago

BLACK SABBATH PIN...c’mon Stern. We deserve it.

#9838 3 years ago

Strangers Things? A children’s show? You thought wrong.

Quoted from Dee-Bow:

Where can I find these netflix stats that show how many people around the world watch stranger things? I thouht it a children's show not watched by more than a few million kids in North America.

#9839 3 years ago

A quick google search will reveal that 40.7 million people streamed the show on the debut weekend of the latest season. So, it’s pretty f’n popular and it’s very obviously not a children’s show.

Quoted from Dee-Bow:

Where can I find these netflix stats that show how many people around the world watch stranger things? I thouht it a children's show not watched by more than a few million kids in North America.

#9916 3 years ago

It’s definitely zombie yeti...we’ve seen the artwork already and he’s posted about the game on his IG

Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

I do think it's probably Zombie Yeti. Personally, Deadpool has my favorite art package ever on a pin.
With that said, Thursday, 1700 EST. Kotaku reveal (this is a guess, not a source).

#9950 3 years ago

A Nick Cage ‘MANDY’ pin would be siiiick

Quoted from cait001:

screw you, gimme Nicholas Cage doing all the callouts.
Gimme a Nicholas Cage themed pin and just load it with his career.

#10161 3 years ago

Futurama isn’t unlikely to ever be made but if it were, I would buy that shit so fast

Quoted from Ivanhoe:

Ok, so I suggested a Futurama pin which I hope is done by someone who can do it right BUT what about a Flintstones Pinball based on the classic cartoon not the Live action movie. It’s an opportunity to use some bright colors and the new lcd screens. Licensing can’t cost as much as Deadpool, Jurassic Park or Infinity Wars themes. They could stand to make a nice profit.

#10201 3 years ago

Toho Godzilla > Jaws
BTTF > Led Zep

#10213 3 years ago

Or Legend of Zelda! A new Mario Bros based off of Mario 3 would be sick though.

Quoted from V8haha:

I’m ready for another Mario Pin. The old game is horrible and still earns really well on route.
Time for stern to make a Mario pin

#10228 3 years ago

Forget Queen... forget Led Zeppelin... we need a Kapow D E V O pin!

#10262 3 years ago

1. Godzilla
2. Godzilla
3. Godzilla

#10279 3 years ago

Yes to both. More specifically an Evil Dead / Army of Darkness...could you IMAGINE the callouts? Perfect pinball theme. And Beetlejuice would be an instant buy for me.

Quoted from Derekk:

Beetlejuice for me or evil dead

4 weeks later
#10661 3 years ago

I hope so. Godzilla is dream theme status for me.

Quoted from kermit24:

So that means we need to figure out what “Munchkin” is. Godzilla?

#10670 3 years ago

This may be the worst suggestion for a pin theme I’ve ever heard haha

Quoted from Vitty:

I wouldn't mind a Red Hot Chili Peppers pin

#10686 3 years ago

I’d prefer classic Toho Godzilla on its own but I suppose I could get behind a Godzilla vs Kong movie pin if it’s done right...and the film isn’t a pile of shite haha

Quoted from Charlemagne1987:

The next Godzilla movie is Godzilla vs Kong. Now THAT would be an awesome pin. My game room is filling quickly but I’d make room for that one. I hope Stern does it.

#10695 3 years ago

That’s absurd, there are 17 monsters in the Godzilla franchise. So 17 modes to defeat each titan, team ups ala Deadpool with Rodan, Angurius and Godzilla JR with a “destroy all monsters” wizard mode finale would make an EPIC pinball experience. Make the modes non linear and stackable with multiballs...Jesus...how could that EVER be boring?

Quoted from pinballwil:

Games based on single characters wil never work.
So jaws and godzilla soon gets boring.
If they can have the movie licenses with the actors it can work.
BTTF will do the trick, all the movies in one pin full with shots and toys.

#10728 3 years ago

I’m down for any pin poking fun at the police

Quoted from wyopin:

I think “Super Troopers” would be fun...a lot of funny one-liners, quotable, and great cult following...done like a tbl but with a big manufacturer behind it.

#10730 3 years ago

Why not? Stern holds the license to Soookys dismay (That was the co dream license) I think it’s likely that Stern will produce a Toho Studios inspired Godzilla pin in 2021. LED Zep first, then BTTF Kapow / Stern studio and Godzilla. It’s gonna be a good year for pinball.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

A Godzilla themed pin would be badass based on the old or new movies. But I think a Godzilla vs Kong 2021 based theme would be killer. All the different monsters especially King Ghidorah. But won’t happen
[quoted image]

#10760 3 years ago

This guy

Quoted from Ivanhoe:

One more thing about an Addams anniversary edition, if Stern reads this and they decide to make one based on the post, it would be really great if they would throw a brother a bone and send one free to the guy who suggested it....this guy. LOL.

11
#10761 3 years ago

JAWS seems like such a boring theme for a pin IMO. I keep trying to think about how the modes will play out:

mode one- shark bites kid
mode two- Adults get boat
mode three- Shark bites boat
wiz mode- shark bites boat some more but this time you have three balls.

What’s the layout like? A shark head where the mouth doesn’t open on the pro? IDK

Help me understand why everyone wants Jaws. Please.

Quoted from Charlemagne1987:

In that case, JAWS, JAWS, BTTF, JAWS, JAWS and GODZILLA V. KONG. Did I mention I'd like a JAWS pin?

#10766 3 years ago

JAWS in undoubtably popular for sure and I do enjoy the film. I just think the elements that make is a decent flick would be shallow for pin. Even Jurassic Park has more going on in the universe than JAWS. IDK...I imagine Jaws being a weak Munsters situation. Not a lot to do...with shallow rules and the hope that amazing coding will make it worthwhile eventually. Godzilla on the other hand has 70 year + franchise filled with innumerable villians to battle and would translate into a pinball experience flawlessly. It would be EPIC....and it 100% needs to be done and done right. True to the franchise and a journey through the 36 films from 1954 to the present. An Elwin / Lyman Godzilla would be a day one LE purchase for me.

Quoted from Charlemagne1987:

Well, I'm no game designer, but if they can make a kick ass game out of dinosaurs chasing people around a park or a weird candymaker and his chocolate factory or a monster sitcom from the sixties that few people remember or a bunch of little collectible toy cars or...or...I think you get my point. The film was HUGE and it still has a massive fan base. The music is iconic. The story is suspenseful. The humor is there. The toys and setting could be very cool. The shark is just as villainous and menacing as T-Rex or Godzilla. I'm sure a good game designer could come up with something epic for a JAWS pin.

#10772 3 years ago

Tops for me are-

Evil dead : Army of Darkness
Goonies
Godzilla
Adventure Time
Beetlejuice

Quoted from dolsontown:

PINS THAT NEED TO BE DONE.
1ST. DISNEY PARK THEME. CINDERELLA CASTLE IN MIDDLE FANTASY WORLD TOMORROW LAND ETC. COULD PUT EASTER EGGS LIKE CRACY.
2ND NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
3RD .CARTOON OF JUSTICE LEAGUE.
HONORABLE MENTION (WIFE PICK NUMBER 2 ND BEETLEJUICE

#10789 3 years ago

Barf...who let you in here? Haha

Quoted from gregh43:

the next stern machine should be a Virtual Pinball. its been rumored talk by stern and other companies such as Arcade1Up and AtGames are coming out with their version. Stern should get on board and corner the market as well.. not everyone can afford a 8 to 10 grand pinball. having a virtual gives you the ability to enjoy the classic pinball games you grew up playing or some classics you never got to play.. just my opinion..

#10802 3 years ago

There will likely never be another Addams made. Likelyhood of Zep being made is 9/10.... more a matter of when not if.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

What are the odds out of ten that Zeppelin is being made? And when will we get an announcement from Stern! I am new to pinball so not sure on their timeline for announcements.
Would love to see an Adams Family based on the original tv show. When you lose your ball Lurch can go “uhhhhh”. Have a bell toy like ac/dc but have it a rope you hit and when you do Lurch can say “You rang after the big bong noise from the show”
Have a Gomez mode were you blow up the train and have an interactive train toy that blows up like the castle in MM and have a detonator plunger toy you have to hit so many times. I know ac/dc has one for tnt and still would be a great toy.
You can have a Morticia mode with a Cleopatra toy where you have to feed her balls to lock them for a multi ball and incorporate Morticia saying something in French and have Gomez replying “Tish that’s French! You know how wild I get when you speak French!” to start the multiball mode.
The actor who played Lurch;Ted Cassidy, also played Thing. So have a multiball mode with Lurch’s harps accord music playing and activated by having an upper playfield with Things box that locks the balls and his hand pops up releasing each ball once you lock them all like BKSOR.
Pin artwork must be all black and white. I was disappointed with Munsters but I think an AF pin based on the tv show instead of the movie could be an awesome game. Just my opinion and day dream lol.

#10844 3 years ago

Stern would be smart to counter Spookys Rick and Morty with a Bob Burgers or a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror pin. BOTH would be HUGE sellers. The Pinball FX3 Bobs Burgers virtual table is AMAZING. The show translates so well into pinball. I’d also personally love an Adventure Time pin...but I’m not sure it has a wide enough fan base unfortunately.

#10868 3 years ago

I appreciate bringing an undercelebrated band into this BUT...how about a DEVO pin?!?!?

Quoted from onemilemore:

As much as I know they are not as huge as other bands, Muse would make a fantastic music pin. Between their random sci-fi/conspiracy leanings, crazy art stylings and killer live show (including a few DVDs to pull footage from) it could be a great option for a modern band to be represented.

#10879 3 years ago

Anyone trying to get an MMr should just buy an EHOH. It’s f’n amazing, has a similar shot layout, great humor and has way deeper rules and code. I understand the nostalgia factor for MM and it is most definitely a classic but...EHOH is seriously a stupendous game.

Quoted from mbeardsley:

I don't believe that is true. I tried to buy a new MMR-SE right when the last batch was announced. The (large) distributor here (a guy that I've known for a while) said that he already had so many people on his wait list that he really had no chance of getting me one.
I think that there is still a fair amount of demand left.

#10882 3 years ago

Right on, not sure when you played it but the completed code is phenomenal. Give it another shot if you see it around. I was not impressed with the game when I first played it either.

Quoted from mbeardsley:

Sorry, I can't agree with that at all. I got to play an EHOH for a bit, and I have to say that I was unimpressed. The playfield felt empty, and it just seemed boring. In fairness, I was never a huge fan of the other Elvira machines either (I didn't dislike them, but sure didn't love them).
Not trying to start a war here or anything (and if you like EHOH, that's great), but it's not something that I would ever buy. If I was going to buy a new Stern machine, there are a bunch of others I would consider first (like DP, JP, or the new Avengers).

#10884 3 years ago

I most definitely agree with that. I typically don’t buy NIB games for this very reason or if I do I wait at least a year for the code to mature. Shame about the local BM66 ...that game is also amazing at current code...the initial release code was AWFUL.

Quoted from mbeardsley:

Not sure what the code version was on it, as it was on location - I played it just before Covid hit.
That's the problem with releasing pins with unfinished code. It can give people a bad first impression of the machine - and give it a bad reputation. Also, for machines on location, a lot of operators don't bother/care to update the machine with the latest version (unless there is some pressing reason to).
It's fine to say that the new code makes the game better, but usually by the time that happens there is some new machine out that is the "new hotness".
There is a location near me that has a BM66 that is still on the version it shipped with (it still has none of the minor villain modes). I'd love to try the new code, but it is the only BM66 on location that I know of nearby.

It’s most definitely not a remake...an it’s a 50/50 chance that’s its LZ

Quoted from trimoto:

Hey yall I herd from my distributor LZ was next
And it would probably be a remake.

Buy EHOH...it’s amazing. Deeep deeep deep game. Wait a year to buy LZ after the code has matured.

Quoted from rai:

SW is fantastic I could have bought any pin but picked SW not everyone likes the same pins equally.
Back to LZ I’m glad it’s Ritchie because he’s one of my favorite designers. LZ is my all time favorite. Never saw them in concert but did see Robert Plant.
I was thinking of buying EHOH but I’ll wait to see how LZ looks. I’m not an automatic buy because of any theme I think that’s silly.

New Stern announcement Wednesday the 18th!

#11095 3 years ago

Hopefully not...they are due for another game reveal

Quoted from CashMoney:

Probably just that connector/chip that lets streamers directly show their screen on twitch instead of using a camera.
I swear zmeny if thing is like $120 people will go ballistic...

#11097 3 years ago

I hope not...superhero shit is lame haha

Quoted from mrclean:

When I hear the Immigrant Led Zeppelin song I can't help but think of Thor... I'd Imagine that Thor will get his own game eventually just as Iron Man & Guardians of the Galaxy... come time in 2022 when Thor: Love and Thunder comes out.
[quoted image]

#11099 3 years ago

Hard pass on every single one of those.

Quoted from mrclean:

Well speaking of lame...
To see potentially what could be on the 2 year horizon for Stern / JJP or whomever...Looking strictly at some 2022 movies.... Is Hollywood running out of ideas or is it that they know we love some of these franchises ?
Thor 4
Jurassic World 3 Dominion
Captain Marvel 2
Aqua Man 2
Fast & Furious 10
Avatar 2
Indiana Jones 5
Sonic 2
John Wick 4
Scream 5
Mission Impossible 8
Black Panther 2
The Batman 78 lol

Garbage take. Rowling is trash. Harry Potter is for babies.

Quoted from PinMonk:

Harry Potter will have They, Their and Them editions. Zhe will be the one that aligns with your idea of an Ultra LE. Rowling's going overboard on her apology tour...

#11125 3 years ago

JJP GNR sucks, but this is next Stern pin thread sooo moving on...

Quoted from noob-a-tron:

I played it and its amazing, you liked Munsters well this kills that game. So much going on in this game its just not about a concert but that being said it does make you feel your in the front row. Best JJP by a mile nothing compares to this from them. The reason why they are selling so many and everything is delayed kinda speaks for itself right!

-5
#11128 3 years ago

You should go read my review of GNR...you’ll have a good laugh

Quoted from Da-Shaker:

I kind of agree. Don't care for GNR

#11129 3 years ago

AIQ pro is most definitely lacking and I’m not completely blown away by the premium either. I think it’s the weakest Elwin design so far and the worst Zombie Yeti artwork to date. It seems rushed. It’s all good though not everything can be a hit. It’s fun for a bash, I’d play it on location but I won’t buy it.

Quoted from BallPin:

Different strokes for different folks. I played SE, and LE GnR. I can't wait until my LE comes in because I'm itching to play some more GnR. I played AIQ Pro, and I didn't dig it at all. It was set to free play at my barcade, and I played one game and a half. I wasn't feeling it. Went back to GnR and MAN what a difference. Fun is the key word. Only thing I liked about AIQ was the ball lock tower was cool. LE AIQ might differ a bit, but the Pro, dare I say...sucked. I felt like I was shooting at spinners the whole time. I think it was 4 or 5 spinners. Then a kintect ball to hit, and a spinning disc and finally two huge ramps. Nothing satisfying to shoot at, except the tower ball lock. No interest in playing that again. TMNT Pro was much better.

#11354 3 years ago

I’d be more into a Three’s Company pin personally

Quoted from The_Pump_House:

The next pin, without a doubt, should be the three stooges. So many call outs and obviously tassels, it must have tassels (Curlys kryptonite)
Only tickling curlys chin calms him down when in a tassel rage

No one ever mentions ‘Home Alone’ as a viable ( or desirable ) license for pinball. I think it would be amazing. Think of all the traps and gadgets, fighting off the wet bandits the theme is MADE for pinball. AND it’s a modern classic holiday film. Would make a huge holiday release. Big fun!

#11613 3 years ago

Hahaha, you soulless bastard!

Quoted from kermit24:

Home Alone Pinball. Cringeworthy.

The Squad fucking rules and Republicans are bad at pinball and sex. Can we get back to the pinball talk now, please? Moderated in 3..2...1...it’s just a joke.

Quoted from Roostking:

Even worse for operators. 60% of the take goes to someone who doesnt route machine AND you can only run the pin for 40 hours a week..

#11632 3 years ago

We could call it ‘Bootlicker: The pin” hahaha.

Quoted from Ceckitti:

High Speed 3. But this time you are the cop.

#11663 3 years ago

Castlevania or Legend of Zelda would be an immediate buy for me.

Quoted from Jackontherocks:

I said it before so here goes again CASTLEVANIA for the win, great graphics, sound and music and horror which almost everyone loves, it would be an upgraded Monster Bash meets Dracula pin if done right.[quoted image]

#11713 3 years ago

You were never getting a code update anyway. The code was complete very early on...it’s just a shallow game. It was designed that way. Borg specifically told Sullivan not to create deep code.

Quoted from NC_Pin:

It looks like they are pulling the plug on Munsters... I guess that means we won't get significantly updated code.

#11773 3 years ago

I think it’s Godzilla as well...possibly not this release but it’s definitely coming. When AIQ was announced I commented on Instagram about my disappointment hoping that it was Godzilla and Gomez commented back “No but your big green friend is crushing buildings in Elk Grove village as we speak” I don’t believe this was a Hulk reference either. Felt like more of an acknowledgement that they were working on Godzilla. I have a screenshot of it somewhere.

Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

Godzilla,
It's going to be Godzilla.
I sourced the reasons for my speculation below.
1. It is widely believed that Stern has this specific license. We know that Spooky went after the license and was rebuffed https://www.thisweekinpinball.com/twip-spooky-pinball-no-godzilla-license-franchi-on-munsters-and-or-beatles-pinburgh-stream-when-will-we-see-deadpool-more/. There is heavy speculation Spooky and Stern got in a bidding war over this one, and I think we can all agree Stern has more resources than Spooky https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/spooky-godzilla.
2. There have been hints I've seen from supposed insiders, "it's going to be a monster of a game". https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/vote-stern-titles-on-backorder-2020#post-6004004 If true, the monster theme would line up perfectly here.
3. Release would line up or would have lined up with original planned release date of new Godzilla movie originally schedule for November 30th, 2020, now releasing in May 2021. https://www.ign.com/articles/godzilla-vs-kong-hbo-max-streaming-option-after-netflix-failed-offer. This changed release date did not occur until June. I don't know how long the supply chain is in Pinball manufacturing, but Stern may have already been committed to ordering parts for production by this time.
4. Stern has a solid history of building pinball machines previously licensed by it’s ancestor companies, Data East and Sega. It has built Jurassic Park, Batman, Star Wars, Simpsons, Star Trek, Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, WWF https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_released_by_Data_East https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sega_Pinball_machines There was a Sega Godzilla machine released in 1998. https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/godzilla
For these reasons I'm guessing it is going to be Godzilla. Not only do we "know" Stern has this license, but there have been hints from supposed insiders that its a monster game, and the timeline lines up with the original release of an accompanying movie.
[quoted image]

#11778 3 years ago

No chance you’ll ever see a fully licensed Top Gun pin due to the US military’s involvement in its production.

Quoted from Snotdoc:

what's the chance Top Gun comes out this year? I would love that one

#11800 3 years ago

BLACK SABBATH is a fuckin’ no brainer.

#11867 3 years ago

I hear LZ is a reskin of Stranger Things. The movie screen is a static image of LZ on stage...it opens up and you throw $7k into John Bonhams kick drum hole. Then the game shows off its penis through the fabric of it tight pants and rips off delta blues musicians.

#11894 3 years ago

Keith Elwin GODZILLA

Quoted from kermit24:

Brian Eddy Godzilla

#11906 3 years ago

They should sell LZ with a Parliamemt Funkadelic reskin kit. Get the real Mothership up in this mutha.

I’d kill for a pin that goes through the History of hip hop...from the 1970s South Bronx to the 90’s East Coast West coast schools to the current day. Could be absolutely amazing if done right.

Quoted from dtrimberger:

Now that the 96.7 KROK crowd is satisfied (this includes me admittedly) can the next music pin explore another genre of music?
Hip Hop
EDM (lasers everywhere, Bass drop multiball)
Something for the wiggle dance crowd. The dead, phish, widespread panic (endless obscure musical scale mode)
hell I'd even like a little boot skootin country pin before another rock theme

#11975 3 years ago

Stick with EHOH, it’s amazing.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

EHOH is definitely a fun deep pin and my wife and daughters love Halloween. So probably will have to get Elvira. But my 50th birthday is next month and if Zep is good may have to ask for it.

#11978 3 years ago

I wasn’t impressed at release...waited a year and the code and rules became immensely deep thanks to Lyman. I honestly think it’s one of the best fan layout pins ever made. I prefer it over MM and AFM. Total knock out for Stern.

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

I don’t think I have a real choice lol. Wife definitely wants it. I was really surprised by Elvira. Didn’t look that deep or fun by first appearance. Really blew me away once I got into it

#11981 3 years ago

Definitely...there are four films on the backglass that havnt even been represented in the game yet. If they all get included the game will be just MASSIVE. It’s already crazy.

Quoted from Hayfarmer:

I did same. Was so disappointed on release. I think it has a couple of good updates still to come

#12075 3 years ago

Agreed, I’ll be pissed if Eddy is on Godzilla and churns out some trite fan / bash situation. ST was such an uninspired let down and it was a theme i was SUPER excited about so I’ll not be quick to forgive the ball drop. GZ is such a mega theme that deserves full attention from a designer that is interested in pushing the boundaries of pinball with interesting shots and unique mechs. Keef fookin’ Elwin or bust.

Quoted from CashMoney:

Oh jeez, I hope not! I don’t want Eddy butchering Godzilla like he did with Stranger Things...

#12094 3 years ago

HBO has a ton of Godzilla on Max. And Amazon prime has a bunch. It doesn’t matter what’s “on tv”. The Godzilla brand has been around since 1954 and they are STILL making films to this day. 32 films total! Also, Toy collectors spend thousands of dollars on original bullmark / Sofibi Kaiju toys. It’s just a massively popular theme the world over. Prior to covid I’d have TOHO films playing on a big screen at my location multiple times a week. Kids would be glued to the screen.

Quoted from DCFAN:

When was the last time people watched Toho Godzilla? Just curious. Not meant to sound like I am knocking it, I just don’t remember the last time I saw it on tv anywhere.

#12107 3 years ago

Most definitely into a Ramones pin and although not “punk” I think a DEVO pin would be a hell of a lot of fun. The Stooges and The Misfits would be great punk themes too. Also... A Turbonegro ‘Apocalypse Dudes’ pins would be a f’n dream. But that’ll never happen haha

Quoted from SLCpunk2113:

I think it’s high time for a punk pin. Punk rock and pinball are like PB&J. Obviously it won’t be the next stern but I’ve got music pins in my mind for some reason. Haha. Ramones pin I think would do well but I’d prefer a Dead Kennedys or Bad Religion. Probably won’t happen but a boy can dream. I also think Jack White would be rad tunes for a pin but he’s had so many bands I don’t know how that would work.
Also Deadflip said that he was told not to do Beetlejuice as a homebrew theme so I hope stern is going to make that happen. Instant buy for me. Although it seems like Nightmare Before Christmas would have been made by now if it weren’t for licensing issues. Wonder if Tim Burton isn’t a fan of pinball.

#12121 3 years ago

Motorhead would be killer

Punk, heavy metal, and rock n' roll...

The topper will be a ‘stairway to heaven’ that lights up and it will have its own ‘stairway mode’ that you can only play if you’ve bought the topper AND the mode will not be supported by the pro model. The topper will be $35 worth of materials for $1500 plus shipping. I guarantee it.

Quoted from BallPin:

This is Stern...it's a plastic cut out with LEDs, and wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it to $1200 because it has some sort of song attached to it that will be unlocked in the game.

#12203 3 years ago

No thanks. Playfield art looks like homepin level bad. Pro is bare at best. This is not going to rival JJP GNR in the slightest.

#12212 3 years ago

“negative nellies” haha I just know what I like to see and this ain’t it unfortunately. Pinball is always “fun” even on subpar games but I think we can all agree we hope for more at every release. Sometimes we get innovation and clever design...sometimes we get an uninspired product.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

So glad all the negative Nellies have chimed in. And here I thought pinball machines were supposed to be fun. It doesn't matter how many toys you jack into a machine or if it's ugly as sin. We haven't even seen gameplay yet or mature code but people are out. Same old Pinside.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Godzilla is coming. It’s not based on the lame-o American modern films. It’s based on the Toho Japan classics and...it’s gonna be fucking awesome.

Quoted from littlecammi:

There already is a House of Horrors pin, but when I think about Elvira, "little" does not come to mind.

little house of horrors

#12477 3 years ago

Stern would be smart to do a Toho Godzilla pin that spans Showa thru Heisei era and leaves the modern American films out of the equation. They are patently bad and do the franchise no justice. I do not expect Godzilla vs Kong to be any different. STERN....CLASSIC GODZILLA 1954-1980s. DONT DROP THE OPPORTUNITY TO SMASH THIS LICENSE OUT OF THE PARK. PLEASE.

Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

Sounds like it's definitely on the upcoming release slate and given Godzilla vs Kong is released end of May, hard to see Stern not lining it around that fact and making it next off the line. Might finally be a Stern I want to buy after a Stern purchase free 2020.

#12525 3 years ago

I couldn’t agree with you more. Showa - Heisei classic era Godzilla or GTFO. I will be a day one buyer of at least a premium. If it’s a modern representation or Godzilla vs Kong...I’m gonna pass.

Quoted from gonzo73:

Its Toho, or, OH NO!
There are over 60 years of Toho films that are beloved.
Would Stern be so out of touch to go with the new american films, that are just barely passible films?

#12535 3 years ago

It’s just terribly ugly and uninspired looking. I think Ritchie should retire. Stern ought be looking for the next Elwin not rehashing the same boring old shite.

Quoted from J85M:

I doubt it will be a turd that’s probably a little harsh, it looks to shoot really fast and flow smooth as butter which is to be expected from a SR game.
What jumps out at me is it’s just so uneventful there’s no single shot that looks all that exciting, it’s a classic SR layout that he’s simply done better many times before: AC/DC, Star Trek & Spider-Man which all had at least two or 3 shots that are always exciting and fun to hit.

#12540 3 years ago

That doesn’t even make sense. Stern needs to continue to bring in younger designers that have something to prove. That’s the only way they are going produce tables with fresh ideas in the future.

Quoted from LOTR_breath:

Stern already found the next Elwin. His name is Keith Elwin...

#12541 3 years ago

Toho Godzilla classic w/ Elwin and Lyman would be some truly blockbusting shit.

Quoted from cooked71:

The only guy that could do justice to the huge catalogue of Toho Godzilla footage would be Lyman. He’s the only coder that’s proven he knows how to deeply integrate a theme that has good assets.

#12558 3 years ago

Disagree. ZY’s art has been phoned in the last few titles. TMNT and AIQ art packages are both underwhelming. It’s not a good idea for Stern to utilize one graphic artist to dress ALL of their pins. The entire brand would end up reading as homogeneous, trite and each title will feel less special over time. More youngblood fresh art is needed. I like ZY, his work on IMDN and DP was great....but he is not the greatest graphic artist available. That’s a fact.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

I like your poster. However, ZY is whom you need to address your design concepts for GZ.

#12580 3 years ago

Because the music is too slow and ethereal for pinball. Imagine ‘any color you like’ 6 ball multiball haha. I just don’t think PF translates well into pinball game play. Maybe if the game played like a sys 80.

Quoted from tigzzz:

Does anybody know why Pink Floyd has not been done yet? There are so many great music clips and themes to choose from. It could be one of the greatest pins of all time if done well in my opinion.

#12613 3 years ago

Assuming that people under the age of 50 don’t buy ( or can’t afford ) pinball machines is ludicrous.

Quoted from jcg9998:

Instead, lets sell to the demographic that has no money and/or doesn't buy pinball machines. Why would Stern want to go with themes that appeal to their prime market base? You know... the one's that actually buy the machines. That would be stupid.

#12645 3 years ago

GODZILLA.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

LOTR pinball is so old, Cap'n Crunch was still a private. Let’s face it the software and the game are 17 years ancient. Instead of remaking or upgrading LOTR, Stern should design another version. Can you say ELOTR (E=Elwin)? I can’t think of a better theme or better person to design the game. Keith already redesigned Avengers so why not ELOTR? There may be 1k people interested in an updated LOTR but I’ll be there are 5X that amount that would like an Elwin version? What do you think! should we drop our pressure on Stern to reproduce LOTR and petition them to remake one of their classics?
Give me one theme better than LOTR. Not BTTF, not Gremlins, Not Jaws and Not Godzilla because those aren’t. Although I would like Jaws.

#12648 3 years ago

An Elwin Legend of Zelda would be a dream come true.

Quoted from UNCgump:

I'd prefer to see Elwin do a Zelda or Metroid pin. One day...

#12659 3 years ago

Before all that I’d like a THEY LIVE and an ARMY OF DARKNESS pin. MS 45 would be pretty cool but I think a grindhouse pin that has like 10-15 classic grind films in it would be even better. Similar to how EHOH utilizes all its B movies...each mode is a flick

Quoted from sunnRAT:

I was born in 84 and consider Twilight Zone to be one of the all time great TV shows still to this day.
As far as 'Next Stern Pin' goes, I'd love to see some good nunsploitation theme like Malabimba, more the more traditional classic, Killer Nun!
How about a good revenge thriller like Ms. 45 or They Call Her One Eye, or I Spit on Your Grave or Lady Snowblood? Or an all time classic like Death Wish?
Bronson deserves a pinball machine, I dont care how old or young your money is.

The Thing would make an Amazing pin. I’d actually love to see a John Carpenter retrospective pin with all of his films and scores. That would just blow my f’n mind...

A boy can dream!

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

I am turning 50 on the 17th of this month and there is a lot of great movies, shows, bands I got to see in my 5 decades of life. I just watched John Carpenters The Thing and forgot how great that movie was as is the original. Would it make a great pin, I don’t know but leaning towards it would be ok.
There’s a lot of things I love that I would love to see as a pin. I love EHOH and put a deposit down for one but not a huge fan of hers, but the pin is great and the theme is still a draw for me. I love cheesy horror and sci fi movies, and plus it’s Elvira.
Dead Pool is a great game and the character is after my time because I grew up a DC fan.
I am really looking forward to Godzilla and any upcoming Stern announcements.
I think Queen would be a home run and would do better than Led Zeppelin. I love Led Zeppelin but Queen has a huge fan base and are more popular in my opinion. And I have to admit Queen is a better band. Freddie was a brilliant songwriter and one of the greatest voices ever.
Any Queen song from there hits would be amazing. Give Bohemian Rhapsody a JJP light show and throw in a We Will Rock You multiball I am in.
With modern pins having a killer soundtrack and sound effects is a huge plus for me. That’s one of the reasons BKSOR hooked me in. Great art, sounds, and music plus was great fun for me.
I would also love a Motley Crue pin based on their first five Lps Too Fast For Love, Shout At the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls, and Dr Feelgood.
Theatre is Pain or Dr Feelgood would be a cool looking cabinet with the LP cover on the backglass or a Shout At The Devil all in black with red trim and put their faces on the side (I know Kiss was done like that twice) like it was on the cassette and have the pentagram on the backglass with Motley Crue in red letters or do poster art or album covers on the cabinet like GnR.
Any song would kick a$$ from the first five Lps. Take two from each and I would be happy. Here’s my picks for ten Crue songs
Too Fast For Love
Public Enemy #1
Shout At the Devil
Ten Seconds To Love
Smokin in the Boys Room
Louder Than Hell
Sumthin' for Nuthin
Girls Girls Girls
Kick Start My Heart
Same Ol' Situation
This would be freaking sick and would love to see this happen but doubt it.
We can all dream.

#12964 3 years ago

It’s bad, yes...and there are 12 of them. And they are ALL bad and I DEFINITELY want a Friday 13th pin haha.

Quoted from Tranquilize:

Have you watched the movie since you were 12? It is seriously one of the worst movies ever made. Dead serious.

ARMY OF DARKNESS. My grail pin...I would be an LE buyer for sure.

Anyone see the little snippet of video from Godzilla vs Kong? It’s about 2 seconds of footage but it looks pretty fuckin great. I’d prefer a classic Godzilla treatment for a pin but if this is what we get I’m still into it.

#13001 3 years ago

There will never be a Nirvana pin. That is the most difficult modern music license to obtain. It’s nearly impossible. So...I’m throwing my hat in for Beastie Boys. I think that would be a F’n blast.

I wonder how a Nirvana pin would do?

I don’t trust Stern to realize what makes Black Sabbath awesome. I KNOW I would be disappointed with their representation. I’d rather see Spooky take on Sabbath. Stern Rock pins (IMDN excluded) are corny as fuck. But...a Sabbath like Alice Coopers nightmare castle could be awesome.

Quoted from Jackontherocks:

My guess Black Sabbath next music pin

“Fine” doesn’t cut it for me. The LZ playfield artwork is incredibly weak.

Quoted from LOTR_breath:

LZ looks fine in person and plays good too.

#13031 3 years ago

I hope you’re right my friend. Sabbath has been one of my favorite bands since I was 8 years old. If Stern botched it I’ll be very disappointed. It should be dark and stoner-y and have great animations. It really needs to be Elwin / Yeti. Sweetleaf cough callout on ball launch, sick.

Quoted from Da-Shaker:

I disagree and have a feeling Black Sabbath is coming and it's going to be great!

#13047 3 years ago

Beastie Boys would be awesome, as far a funk themed pin Parliament Funkadelic would be my top choice. I almost re-themed a Royal Rumble as Funkadelic...with the upper playfield ring becoming the mothership. Would be such an amazing theme for pinball especially if it utilized original Pedro Bell / Stozo artwork

Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

I suggested a Beastie's pin a little while ago somewhere else (thought it was hear but can't see anything). Would be a good bridge between 'Rap' and 'Rock' themes and surely have a pretty broad appeal. Similarly quite a few musician friends of mine who like pinball would love to see a 'Funk' based pin one of these days.
Also a big early U2 fan. But in all honesty, I cannot at all see U2 tracks in a pin.

Eagles will be the theme that puts Stern out of business haha. Don’t do it Stern!!!

This looks like more modern Godzilla CGI garbage to me. TOHO Godzilla classics or I’m out.

Quoted from bloodydrake:

So that looks spectacular, if godzilla does get done my bet is its based new movies

#13135 3 years ago

Apparently TOHO has a Godzilla filmed planned for 2021

Quoted from kermit24:

They have already said it’s the TOHO license. Remember when Charlie went crying to George Gomez when Stern swiped the license from them?

I just prefer the dude in a rubber suit. I’m not a fan of CGI even when it’s well done. There is something magical about live practical effects on film and it’s sad that all of the work and craftsmanship involved has become a lost art.

Quoted from bloodydrake:

i don't' know in what world that trailer looks like garbage to anyone that's a fan of giant monster movies..but OK.
I do agree it definitively doesn't look like a dude in a rubber costume , but to me it looks to be the best of the new movies.

#13159 3 years ago

I hope they don’t animate it themselves. The JP animations are not great, that’s why everyone uses the hacked film code. Classic TOHO Godzilla with original footage would be amazing IMO

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

I dare to say it doesn't matter wich license get's used if the artist is allowed some artistic freedom with the playfield/ cabinet art.
Display would be different of course, but if you go the Jurassic Park route and model the monster stuff yourself, Toho/ Warner would get pretty indistinguishable.

Scooby Doo, very into it. Perfect for pinball. Covers buyers born in the 60’s through the 2000’s. Would be a massive title.

Quoted from Stormfront:

I think that if you are going to go for old-school cartoons... you really need to do the king of them all and do a Scooby-Doo pin. Scooby-Doo is so ingrained in our culture it's going to be a huge sell across many different groups of people.

Borg also hid a King Ghidorah Easter egg in TMNT too...for whatever that is worth. Really hoping for Toho Godzilla next

RHCP is one of the worst bands in the history of popular American music and I am not alone in saying that. Somewhere after ‘blood sugar sex magic’ (which is a good album) they became a complete parody of themselves. The lowest common denominator, an unforgivably corny band that appeals only to vapid bro dudes with frosted tips. Brain dead lyrics obsessed with trite Californian tropes...barf. Not worthy of a pin. End rant.

Quoted from cait001:

RHCP would be an excellent pin.
Still wish they would move away from rock music though. Tron showed how well electronic music could work, and then TNA raised the bar for soundsystems.
Daft Punk is now old people music, so it's perfect...

#13397 3 years ago

Their earlier albums are trash too. ‘BSSM’ is the only cohesive decent offering from RCHP but that’s mainly due to the work of John Frusciante.

Quoted from greenstreet:

i think you are advocating to make the RHCP pin from their earlier work. totally agree. Blood Sugar Sex Magic was their fifth album so by your analysis they had five good albums. i'd throw Californication in there too but you could talk me out of it.

#13398 3 years ago

Like it or not IMDN are a seminal group from the first British wave of heavy metal. They became famous without the help of radio or MTV and without the band Metal would not exist today as we know it. Are they my favorite metal band? No. BUT their influence cannot be ignored and they have my respect and I’ll be damned if someone compares them to the f’n Red Hot Penis Puffers haha

Quoted from WGPE:

They’re the Iron Maiden of alt rock I agree!

#13403 3 years ago

If Stern wants to do a 90’s music pin it should be hip hop related. Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Tribe Called Quest etc etc.

Quoted from greenstreet:

Everyone has their favorites and I respect IM is one of yours. Great band to be sure and an even better pin imo. And top 100 lists are heavily biased by their composer but look at this one from Business Insider:
https://www.businessinsider.com/the-100-most-popular-rock-bands-of-all-time-2018-9#14-maroon-5-87
IM #60 with 6.5mm US album sales and 3.3mm Wikipedia views (at the time of publication)
RHCP #13 with 25mm US album sales and 6.4mm Wikipedia views
Lets be clear, you have your IM pin. The point was Elwin wants to make a pin from his era. What are the choices? In the top 20 of that list we have Linkin Park, Nirvana, U2, Maroon 5 and RHCP... I mean, Nirvana and U2 are great bands but wouldn't make good pins. The only one of those I'd buy is RHCP.

#13441 3 years ago

D&D or Magic the gathering would be awesome. I’d also love a Legend of Zelda pin based off of the first two nes games.

Quoted from Stormfront:

You guys are really hung up on band-oriented pins..
What about something else pop-culture oriented?
Say.... a Dungeons and Dragon's pin?

#13494 3 years ago

Evil Dead Army of Darkness is my number one dream theme. Bruce Campbell is made for pinball callouts. Would be a RIOT...I’d throw down for an LE sight unseen.

I could handle black sabbath, but don’t think I could take another yodeling british band pin.

Quoted from zr11990:

Didnt they just put out LZ? How are they already announcing another pin.

#14275 3 years ago

There will never be a Top Gun pin due to the US Military industrial complex involvement in the production of the film. The license is unobtainable.

Quoted from Utesichiban:

I'm hearing Top Gun now... Stern has done a great job of keeping it off the radar and everyone in the dark on this one. Highway to the Danger Zone!
Okay, I'm just screwing around. Top Gun would be a theme I'd definitely be in, though. I never hear it discussed here as a possible theme so just curious how many others would be interested?

#14300 3 years ago

It’s more involved than that. The pentagon allowed for millions of dollars worth of Jets and aircraft carries to be used in the film in exchange for early access to and rights to alter the script prior to filming, which they did. The military industrial complex basically turned ‘Top Gun’ into an American war propaganda film. It’s a little known fact but it’s true.

Quoted from Utesichiban:

The Navy cooperated on the Top Gun for PR and recruiting purposes. I realize the pinball demographic isn't necessarily their target age for recruitment but it is still good PR and most people who own pinball machines have kids.
It probably wouldn't come cheap but I disagree the license would be unobtainable. I think the bigger issue would be paying Tom Cruise, all the actors, and enough of the soundtrack.

#14328 3 years ago

EXACTLY this! Gappa angry is one of the best modes in pinball history.

Quoted from Vino:

Anyone who has experienced Gappa angry in Elvira HOH knows the masters potential w/Godzilla.

#14336 3 years ago

I had a game where I completed GAPPA six ball twice! Completed directors cut Twice and completed everything else in the game as well as sold the house. Score was about 3.6 Billion. Havnt got close since! Wild game. Probably the best game of pinball I ever played.

Quoted from PinsOnly:

Every time I get to Gappa Angry I brick every shot until I drain. Arrrrgh! One of these days I'll actually progress in the damn thing!

The US Godzilla movies do suck and this new one will likely be no different...BUT...Stern has the Toho Japan license which would allow them access to classic showa and Heisei era Godzilla footage which would be fucking R A D.

Quoted from Boblabla:

The new Godzilla/King Kong movies suck and are rated terrible so, I hope it’s not Godzilla.
Jaws hasn’t been a thing in years. Sharknado would probably sell better as it more relatable to modern times.
BTTF transcends really well and is popular with all ages.
Alien is already being done.
So, BTTF it is!

Stern could do lots with it...BUT I honestly believe that most potential buyers are more interested in classic Toho Godzilla.

Quoted from pinballwil:

G vs k can be great.
On the right Kong grabs the balls by his big hand and load them under the playfield.
Godzilla left on the playfield, bend over and lose the balls for multiball. You can do a ton of things with this licence.

#14768 3 years ago

I like to play test at release, wait till code develops, decide if I want it, reconcile whether the added cost makes sense for a premium and buy then.

It would take something like a very well designed AKIRA, Army of Darkness or Adventure Time to get me into an LE. Otherwise I consider LE/SE/CE overpriced shite for people with big wads to blow. I don’t like paying over $7500 for a pin. Even that price is insane for what you get. But at least the value holds on the secondary market.

Quoted from Goronic:

/begin vent
This is an issue that I have about buying NIB pins the last few years. If you want an SLE, or Collectors Edition, you have to get in day 1 or just a few days later or you will probably miss out. Even Rick and Morty was gone in a day. Seems that the "play it first, and then buy it" are gone. If you want it you better get in on in fast or you will miss out. It is so bad I keep a close eye on what is coming out so I can order ASAP as soon as the announcement is made. Some are even having distributors hold 'possible' games with a deposit. And there are some deep pockets in this hobby now where the 'high prices' aren't much of a deterrent for them.
So for people that want to hold off and play it first you will likely be unable to get MSRP on a SLE, LE or CE version and will have to 'settle'? for a PRO or Premium model.
/end vent

#15243 3 years ago

Why do you all think a teaser is coming today? Expect it later, Stern has a massive backlog of games to make right now...JP pro / prem, IMDN pro / prem and EHOH prem. Distros have been taking payments on these the past few months so they’ve got to produce them. Thinking new announcement will be mid April.

Quoted from CashMoney:

For reals. What time is the teaser dropping today??

#15254 3 years ago

Why? The world of Godzilla is in no way anything like Jurassic Park. Godzilla is not a Dinosaur. That’s like saying that releasing TMNT while JP is still being produced doesn’t make sense because Turtles are green..like dinosaurs. Or that games featuring amphibian based life forms need to be released years apart in order to be successful. That’s ridiculous haha Also...Mandalorian is LITERALLY Star Wars.

Quoted from crujones4life:

To me releasing Godzilla while Jurassic Park is being produced makes about as much sense as releasing Mandolorian while Star Wars is being produced.

#15257 3 years ago

Godzilla is a prehistoric sea monster that was affected by radiation. So...Dinosaur like...but not technically an actual Dinosaur as we know them.

#15259 3 years ago

Oh ok, my bad. I didn’t realize you were four years old haha

Quoted from crujones4life:

Well...they are both large, green, and aggressive...lol. I don't really have an interest in either one. For me they are samey.

#15262 3 years ago

Ahem...Godzillasaurus is not a real Dinosaur. So...I’m still correct. And my point made about how Godzilla and Jurassic park are not similar at all is still in tact.

Quoted from PinMonk:

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah covered this. Godzilla is indeed a radiation-mutated Godzillasaurus dinosaur.

Hmmm The JP dinos were spawned from original Dino DNA so they are real Dinosaurs. ABOMINATIONS of science but...real ( in the film ) real life...obviously not, as the film is fiction. But even as a work of fiction the Dinosaurs depicted are actually real. Unlike “Godzillasaurus”

Quoted from PinMonk:

Um, technically the dinosaurs (at least the "star") in the current Jurassic Parks are mutated/engineered dinos that don't exist, and never existed, either, so you're splitting hairs with the dinosaur species created in Godzilla lore?
Hint: Neither is real.

#15270 3 years ago

This argument has been going on since 1958...so it’ll never be dead. The snippet is dubbed in English. The closest thing to a “Kaiju” in the European vernacular is a Dinosaur. But a Kaiju is simply a monster.

Quoted from PinMonk:

I think you're splitting mutation/engineering hairs. A Toho movie calling Godzilla a dinosaur is as good as a fictional movie with fictionalized super-dinos calling them "dinos" in my book. Your book may differ. You can't change the fact that Toho calls Godzilla a mutated dinosaur. Argument dead.

#15271 3 years ago

More surprising is the fact that Godzilla is actually based off of a fictional mutated marine Iguana. Are iguanas Dinosaurs? Not so much.

Quoted from PinMonk:

I was trolling with the Quora thing, thought that was obvious haha. Anyway, it’s certainly debatable. But the main thing is...a Godzilla pin can exist without stepping on JPs toes.

Quoted from PinMonk:

So you're going to believe some rando on Quora quoting two AMERICAN MADE bastardizations of Godzilla instead of TOHO THE CREATORS OF GODZILLA IN THIER OWN MOVIE?
Uh, whatever. Stop using Japanese terms if you think the American Godzillas are relevant at all, then. You can't have it both ways.

Love the idea of a Sid and Marty Croft pin...I’m a big Lidsville guy.

Quoted from KongDonkey:

Nice! If sea monsters are still game I vote Sigmund. A Sigmund/HR Puf n Stuf pin would be amazing.

Things are getting “nerdy” in here? YOURE IN A PINBALL FORUM Doesn’t get much nerdier than that my guy.

I was really just kind of implying that things were getting a bit nerdy in here.....

And the award for most Canadian post goes toooo....

Quoted from Darth_Chris:

I think it's a great time for pinball companies to come up with epic dream themes. So many new people with deep pockets they can make a fortune. Saddly i'm not one of them so i'll wait on the sideline while this madness is still on. Like everybody knows it's not unique to pinball. I see people paying top dollars for alexis lafreniere rookie hockey card. How can a guy with 10 points in the NHL worth twice as much as Sidney Crosby card when everybody knew he was goin to be the next big thing. Too many new people in that hobby too.

#15368 3 years ago

Canadians love hockey? Was just joking man

Quoted from Darth_Chris:

Wow, have not post on that thread for a month....and your point is ?

I once met Elijah Wood while I was working at an Art Supply Store in the Bowery. He was fresh off of LOTR success and he came in all coked out with two very greasy girls on his arm. He was extra rude to my coworker so he went into the office and picked up the intercom and just kept saying “paging my preeeecious...my preeeecious” in the Golem voice, naturally. Well...Wood got so pissed off the he kicked over a rack of moleskin notebooks and stormed out the front door leaving the cocaine twins behind. Then Chuck Close came in on his wheelchair and was rip shit he couldn’t traverse the store due to the moleskin mess. True story. The end. ( Oh, and Elijah Wood was great in the MANIAC remake )

Quoted from cait001:

I love Elijah Wood, good get. Every time I see him I'm reminded how he was riding high on LOTR success but still agreed to do stuff like
And now spends money funding non-commercial film projects as Executive Producer just because he can.

#15392 3 years ago

Different MANIAC but I like that show as well. I was referring to the slasher flick remake.

Quoted from PinMonk:

MANIAC is a great, weird, not even remake but more like a re-imagining. Really loved it and wish there was more. A chain of stores where you can dox people is weird and crazy, as is the service where you rent a friend. So many funny, weird, disturbing things in that show. Loved it.

#15394 3 years ago

Original is from 1980, both are great. I am typically weary of remakes but, man...it’s gooood.

Quoted from PinMonk:

There were so many weird cameos in the Netflix MANIC series, I thought Elijah Wood was in there, too. No idea the slasher version even existed.

I think he just went from his studio to the art supply store, everything else his assistants got for him. I only saw him like...two or three times in the store.

Quoted from fnord:

I used to work near his studio, always wanted to see him but never did.

#15418 3 years ago

Are you just assuming it’s Kapow?

Quoted from BasementFacts:

So since it's a Kapow title, is it more likely we'll get a good license treatment? Movie clips? Audio clips? I wonder if that's one of his requirements when he signs on? I suppose I'm fine with Mayor Goldie doing call-outs.

#15451 3 years ago

AIQ is Elwins worst and everyone knows it. The prem shoots poorly with the capt marvel ramp, the sounds / callouts and music are annoying and it’s ZY’s least enticing art package. Doesn’t hold a candle to JP and IMDN which are two of the greatest pins ever made IMO. Hoping for a return to glory with Godzilla which he has had a lot of time to design, unlike the rushed AIQ

Quoted from Pin_Fandango:

not sure that is a good indicator. AIQ is an incredible game.

#15456 3 years ago

Then after Sliders if we could get a Quantum Leap pin that would be sick

https://tenor.com/view/scott-bakula-retarded-reflection-sam-quantum-leap-gif-11924489

Quoted from JimB:

And when you finish the eighties next up is a Sliders pinball
[quoted image]

#15461 3 years ago

Alright, so I want to hear from all 16 of you. Rank Elwins games first to last.

I’ll start:

1. IMDN
2. JP
3. AIQ

I live on 1% haha...to each their own I guess.

Quoted from cooked71:

1. Charge your phone.
2. AIQ
3. JP
4. IMDN
3 & 4 a tough call.
[quoted image]

#15475 3 years ago

Yes, but I can tell by looking at your “high scores” that you don’t

Quoted from cooked71:

Lol
Umm, Bro, do you even play pinball?

#15481 3 years ago

Bored? You’re insane. IMDN is probably the most exciting pin I’ve ever played. Thing is like a bomb going off.

Quoted from MrBubbles:

I got an AIQ Premium delivered the same day as a GnR CE. Can't stop playing AIQ, I love the flow of that pin. GnR is gorgeous, almost too pretty to play.
Regarding Elwin game rankings
1. (Own) AIQ Premium/LE - smooth as butter and plain fun
2. (Own) JP Premium - would be #1 with ZY Art and a little more forgiving shots.
3. IM - I've tried liking this game many times because I want to add it to the collection. Everytime I play it I'm bored.

#15484 3 years ago

Oh, yeah...I’m hearing you just need to play it more. The game is phenomenal. The rules and gameplay are the best in the biz. If I only could only have one pin for the rest of my life it would be IMDN.

Quoted from MrBubbles:

Maybe I need to play it in a home setting one day...post COVID. When I've played it, I look at the playfield and see nothing that says "shoot that cool shot/mech/ramp, etc". I just see a generally flat playfield and hear some generic rock music. Love the art though and think the outside of the machine looks great. AIQ Prem ramps look like a roller coaster and JP Premium is loaded with cool shots and mechs. Just my thoughts, obviously many will disagree.

#15492 3 years ago

Nope, I’ve owned 30 + top 100 pins, am an avid player and have a location. I’ve played both AIQ pro and premium and have Battled Thanos and won. I’ve played all three Elwin games to completion and...I’m just not a fan of AIQ. It doesn’t hold up to JP and IMDN. And...the game WAS rushed. Stern literally RUSHED the game.

Quoted from cooked71:

Ouch.
All 3 of his games are leagues ahead of any modern games IMO, so it's very hard to seperate them. It really comes down to personal taste.
Yet you make hyperbolic statements about how AIQ objectively doesnt shoot well, was rushed, has poor art (worse than JP????) and is annoying. To me that indicated you dont really play pinball but instead just read Pinside on your phone, possibly rushing with 1% battery life left, to get your opinions.

#15508 3 years ago

Just watched it, no good. Hopefully Stern does the right thing and goes classic Godzilla.

#15511 3 years ago

I most certainly was not expecting it to be haha

Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

How could it possibly be good? I mean, seriously.

#15589 3 years ago

I can’t wait till all the basic bitc# themes are made so Stern will have to move on to things that are actually cool. Jaws BTTF Harry Potter marvel Dad rock bands...YAWN

I want Akira, Army of Darkness, The Thing, Holy Mountain, Simpsons treehouse of horror, Adventure Time, Legend of Zelda, clockwork orange, Cuphead!!!! Friday 13th, Bobs Burgers, Escape from New York, Warriors, Return of the Living Dead, THEY LIVE, Night of the Demons!, Beastie Boys, Wu Tang Clan, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Masters of the Universe, Voltron, Battle of the Planets, Clash of the titans, Toho Godzilla.

#15676 3 years ago

2/3 of those were flops though, jussayn.

Quoted from Grantman:

But The Munsters, Batman 66 and The Beatles are timely themes?

#15696 3 years ago

Matrix is outdated and goofy. Plus...Johnny Mnemonic is about a pubic hair away from being a Matrix pin. So...let’s call that one done already haha.

Quoted from dougPDX:

I can't believe this Forum is not all about MATRIX!

#15913 3 years ago

I believe it’s a dual motor component that they are having trouble sourcing. Most games that have a motor are single function. EHOH has two motors behind the house and I believe the trex on JP premium is a similar situation

Quoted from Lethal_Inc:

If they don’t have parts to build other games like EHOH or IRMD how can they build new games? I guess the new games won’t have motors and such, just ramps, plastic figures or sculpts, and coils right. Stripped down games that cost too much.

#15954 3 years ago

You think they would actually do that? The licensing via New Line w/ access to all a/v content would be extremely pricey.

Quoted from Hammerhead:

Why would they create a puzzle of a wizard in a grey cloak and pointy hat with a long white beard if they weren’t intending to vault Lord of the Rings?

#15961 3 years ago

All the talk is about Stern updating LOTR as a spike 2 w/ full lcd display. I just don’t see it happening.

Quoted from PinMonk:

They don't need ANY A/V content from the movies to re-release LotR on Spike with system enhancements (color, stereo sound, shaker motor, higher res printing on PF and cabinet, pooling & chipping, better flipper performance, etc). Update the dots to color, adjust layout for new aspect ratio, and higher res, print money. The original had no movie video clips.

#15978 3 years ago

I’m all for it, let’s get fuc#kin weird pinball.

Quoted from thechakapakuni:

Stern should release a beef jerky pin. Mainly because I just like beef jerky
[quoted image]

#16008 3 years ago

LOL ...who let YOU in here? hahaha

Quoted from gregh43:

stern needs to put out a virtual pinball.. with the virtual . you could play many differnt pinball games . instead of spending $1,000s for one pinball game that gets boring after awhile.

#16201 3 years ago

I think you mean Scoob Dog, and that’s what Spooky is dropping next.

Quoted from RikeIsland:

Possible Snoop Dog pin reveal tomorrow? Jin and Juice multiball!

It’s Toy Story, doesn’t everyone know this already?

Quoted from HomerEBW:

If I'm not mistaken Jack came out and said that Eric's next game is something that hasn't been made before. There is already an Avatar game. You could walk the line and say there isn't an Avatar 2 game but it's splitting hairs.
Avatar 2 the movie, is scheduled to be released in December 16th, 2022.

#16213 3 years ago

I’m not interested in Mandalorian but I think it will be successful. I love comedy cartoon-y stuff so I think Seinfeld would be a riot and totally dated in a fun weird way. I’d really love to see stern do Bobs Burgers or The Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror. Hoping Soooky is really on Scooby Doo because I’d be very interested in that. Their games keep getting better and better and I have full faith that they will nail it out of the park sooner than later. ACNC had a lot going for it, same with RaM...it’s coming. They will continue to grow and be a contender. Scooby Doo, Army of Darkness, Friday 13th, Adventure Time, Beetlejuice....cmon spooky!

Quoted from drfrightner:

Obviously the theme is going to be Mandalorian its so obvious.
Who would want a Mandalorian theme considering I doubt any movie franchise as been covered more by pinball than Star Wars. If the game isn't based on a movie or music and it something MILLIONS of people love it has to be Star Wars based. But what if Stern threw a curveball and licensed Seinfeld or Friends?
How long has it been since Stern has done anything in the comedy realm?
Can't wait to see the reveal.

#16261 3 years ago

Be embarrassed about your poor taste. Big Trouble is 80’s camp magic, smdh. Monetary success does not a good film make.

Quoted from greenstreet:

would someone please explain why anyone would want this theme? this movie was one of the biggest busts of the 80s ($25mm budget vs $11mm box office).
when i kept seeing it on this forum i though it must have been from a different generation than mine. but i just looked it up, this PG-13 movie came out when i was 14-years old. after watching the trailer i remember how bad it was.
i know, you guys are just fooling around. this is just another Welk thing.

#16384 3 years ago

That’s basically what Elvira House of Horrors is minus Joel and the bots. Lots of the same flicks.

Quoted from Rodent:

How about a 'Mystery Science 2000: Pin Edition'
- back glass is a full color video monitor like a virtual pin would have. the outlines of the commentator hosts positioned just like the TV series
- image content for the backglass would be a video stream of real play from any number of pinball machines, uploadable to an internal memory so a player could choose the pin upon starting a new game. possible to record your own video loop to share with others
- hosts would toss out random comments during game play based on players (lack of) skills and game targets being hit
- playfield would be themed after a host of iconic suitable EM and SS pins combined with MS2K action figures
I'm thinking this would be better suited to JJP or Spooky, but I'm not sure my budget is deep enough to buy one of those brands new

You are truly out of touch if you believe this haha. Also...Rush is prog rock and AC/DC is hard rock. There really is no such thing as “classic rock” outside of the lens of radio formatting. It’s an utterly useless term for listeners to use as it refers to no style in particular (other than the umbrella of “guitar based rock”) and the term continues to absorb newer artists as time progresses. For example...I heard a Foo Fighters song from 20 years ago on a classic rock station the other day. But are they classic rock? Anyway....don’t mind me. I’m annoying.

Classic rock is timeless, and all generations know it and like it. Check out all the music reaction videos on Youtube...20-somethings are listening to AC/DC, Rush, etc and LOVING it.
