Quoted from superNoid:Can someone help me understand this.. reading in this thread is confusing. I have a Godzilla Premium and Deadpool Pro on order, both with deposits down and waiting on their run. My understanding all along was I locked in my pricing when I purchased. Some people in this thread are using verbiage implying that if Stern increases the prices of (say GZ and/or DP) they aren't for net-new orders but instead of existing orders people have already locked in.
Is that remotely true?
I can't imagine locking in an order and waiting 8 months for it to be built to then have the manufacturer increase the price in that timeline and you have to pay the delta? It doesn't make sense if all new orders are affected by price changes. Thoughts?
Quoted from JSC:You will almost certainly be paying the price increase, the distributor gets hit with it as well. There may be some distributors that eat the additional cost, but those are rare.
Couple things on these statements.
If a stern distributor is saying that you are locked in on a price, then he is just saying that to please you. As a distributor, we have no control over that, and technically, at least with stern, you are not putting a deposit on a game, rather you are putting a deposit on a distributors list. Stern doesnt recognize deposits. So according to stern, no one has a locked in price, and well, they hold the cards in this game.
Now finding a distributor that "honors" a locked in price, although i would love to be able to do this, it is a violation of our term and we can lose our distributorship. I love ya all, but I have to follow the rules, or i dont get to play. Any distributor who sells under what stern allows can and WILL lose their distributorship.
About price increases (which i could type that in a quiet voice because none of us want to hear it) As a distributor, i hate price increases to, because if your price goes up, that means mine does to. Also, with price increases, we lose some buyers as we all know, sometimes you get priced out of what you want. On the last price increase, it was with godzilla, which happened to be the same time last year. For the rest of the calendar year, no other game price technically changed. however, some of the games right at the end of the year did go up 200 to cover the insider connected that was installed in them, that were not in the same titles that might have been in inventory, for example Mandalorian. I at one time had some mandalorian ran earler that where at the same price as release, and i also had some that were with insider that were 200 more.
So again, none of us like price increases, myself, ill blame JJP, when there base model is now 12k, more than even LE models of stern. But everything has gone through the roof in the past two years, hell a mcdonalds value meal is now 10 (was only 2 when i got my license, lol). So to not expect a price hike is just living in a fantasy world in the current times. Now as for what that price hike is, i have no clue, i was told it was a slight increase. But my version of slight and the manufacturers could be way different.
