Quoted from KnockerPTSD:This sounds so pretentious. Just say Stern is the leading manufacturer of pinball[quoted image]
But they're not wrong...
Predictions...
The next Stern game will be announced and shipment of some Pros,
Premiums and all LEs by the end of the year.
It will be a Marvel themed.
LE will sell out in a week or less.
Boomers won't care for it, Gen X and younger will eat it up.
Weeeee Arrrrrre Sterrrrrrn
Quoted from paradisedistro:My owner just got off the phone with the guys at Stern. I have Pros, Premiums and LEs all available for pre-order. Give me a call or shoot me a message.
what is MSRP?
Quoted from radium:Lots of haters like we all knew there would be, but I think this could be one hell of a pin.
The same guys that own TS4 and WOZ are suddenly music experts that think FF music cant work for pinball?? Ohhhhh kaaaaaay.
Bingo
Quoted from frankmac:Reminds me of Ned from retro atomic zombie. Hopefully he comes back down and gives me my refund.
[quoted image]
Naw,
Moral Hazard isn't refundable...
Quoted from TreyBo69:Sharkey's has a licensed professional pool player on it
Not that I would act like anyone would know who she is...
P.s. Kinda derivative of Pool SHARKS game by Bally...
Quoted from PinMonk:Yes, it has been discussed here and there in general terms. Gomez implied in a podcast that the cabinet might be cost-reduced to metal, like the head was with Spike2. He didn't call it a cost reduction, but still...
Better CPU (speed), more RAM will help with more animation, etc for these Marvel games. Also, they need to fix the way they rectify the 48v down to 5v/12v on the node boards so it's not taking out boards in ugly, sometimes unrepairable ways like Spike2 can. I also (hope) expect that they'll have a quieter power supply, or maybe the same power supply with a custom quieter fan like I've been suggesting for like 4 years. MUCH BETTER amplifier section on the CPU board OR dedicated audio/sub output that's discrete from the headphones would be a natural guess. HDMI out on the CPU board for locations with monitors above the pin would be great, too.
Seems like Elwin's next pin is the perfect time to debut the new platform with new features. Spike3 will enable cost reductions that allow Stern to hold the line on price and be the good guys for a year, OR they could be cost-reduced AND raise the prices on schedule, substantially increasing their margin. Either choice is a win for Stern.
Gomez specifically mentioned Spike III with these:
● More processing power
● Backward compatible
● Redesigned cabinet (metal?) with similar design to Spike2 metal backbox with more elegant features
...in this podcast. Power supply and other things have been mentioned elsewhere.
Also 5ghz Wifi as it's just 2.4ghz currently.
Quoted from Esoteric_rt:Would they even re-run a DMD era game?
I thought it was only LCD/SPIKE going forward
Its LCD and beyond!
