That Elvira custom shooter knob looks like it's going to rake some hands on a quick full-release.

Here's a thought --- something that's NOT an IP. Gone are the days when someone just thought up a theme like High Speed or Funhouse or whatever. I don't know why everything has to be based on a movie/show/band, and then digress into opinionated conversations on whether or not that IP is cool or lame. I would kill for something that was just about pinball. </end rant>
Quoted from SNES:BKSOR was only a couple of years ago. I love the game, but all I have heard is how it didn’t sell that well. It just seems like a matter of theme sells.
I own a premium and LOVE that game. I've heard they don't sell as well either, but subtract licensing costs of IP and I wonder what the profits were on it. In the end, I would think that is what really matters.... Still, the fact they don't do that more often makes me think you're right. It's too bad.
Quoted from Indusguys:I think you might want to check out AP, with titles like Houdini, Oktoberfest and now LOV.
Great titles (though I'm not positive I loved the tables in the end) -- It's just that outside of BKSoR everything is IP. I would kill to have a Keith Elwin original. Godzilla is close because it doesn't take itself too seriously, but well... I dunno, half the time the IP makes me uninterested, more that interested.
Quoted from Hayfarmer:Or they piss off the customer base waiting for all the rumored releases? I think its a hard balance right now of producing scheduled titles and keeping up with demand of existing titles. No one could of predicted what the world is going thru right now. Crazy times we are seein, and I don't see it ending in the near future.
I would punt until Feb 1. Fulfill some of the existing orders that are getting punted 3-4 months. The problem with a growing backlog is that while you might get a ton of orders on the books from folks excited about the shiny new thing, you're going to piss off your customers by making them wait an extra long amount of time so that you can cut in line with the new stuff. It works short term, but long term fewer people will buy something then need to wait 6 months to a year to get delivered.
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:I'm only commenting on distributors who have not fulfilled day one orders.
If day oners have not gotten their games that sounds like their distributor has given preferential treatment somewhere else. No day one order should be waiting still. Enough units went out to fill initial orders.
I ordered in the first 30 minutes, and I'm still waiting. My distributor is reputable. I still think I'm going to get one in the next couple weeks, but it's far from for sure. I haven't received notice to pay remainder yet.
aaaaand this is the problem with Rock pinball in my opinion.... So much time and energy is devoted to the merits of the band itself, we all forget that we're here to shoot some silverball. This is why I have a distaste for IP in pinball, and especially rock pinball. It's great when the stars align, but what happens when a fantastic layout hits, with a band or theme that you just hate. You can't escape it. And the discussions being about "Pearl Jam sucks" or "Pearl Jam rocks" -- who cares?!? I mean, I get that everyone has an opinion, but there is no real winner. I dunno, tell me I'm wrong and I'll convince Stern it would be a good idea to do a Republican table or Democrat table, and then we'll really see the forums take off.
Quoted from Lounge:Is the next stern pin a youtube ad?
Personally I hope that they don't make a youtube ad pinball machine. Youtube ads are a millennial thing, and the 40-50 crowd who really like pinball would be more into a popup ad table, banner ad table, or maybe a "Congratulations! You're the 1,000th visitor!" ad table.
Also, for the record (insert your favorite drummer here) sucks! Matt Cameron is easily the best drummer of all time.
