I think they should zig when everyone else is zagging and go team america world police!!
Now that is a theme!!

Quoted from delt31:It’s a marvel game coming in next. Does it even matter at this point? So SICK of these cookie cutter games from stern (from a theme perspective).
I’m happy Stern is going to make it easy on me by going Marvel once again b/c I have no room. Get ready for that buy buy buy though as dealers are DYING for something regardless of the news you hear about how well the 100th run of godzilla is going (color, black and white or whatever else they’re doing to suck the life out of that game).
If I’m Spooky or any other competitor, you have to be loving this b/c Stern is just putting their foot in their mouth. Prime time opportunity for a company with common sense that isn’t overly greedy to clean up.
Ice cold take here
A modern action film theme
A 70’s classic summer blockbuster theme
And a music pin with an actual plot
I’m no stern fanboy but they have been killing it with the themes lately.
Quoted from Rodgy_beats:An 80’s classic summer blockbuster theme
Jaws? That's 70s.

Jaws is an amazing theme so you're certainly right there but I'm focusing on the majority of pins being so saturated with marvel.
Quoted from pinmister:One franchise that I think has great pinball potential with a little Halloween/Christmas vibe to it is Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas. The art could be off the charts, lots of characters for toys/mechs and a good journey style story line that carries the path of the player.

I would love this. Kinda thought spooky would do it.
Quoted from 80sMan:Dream theme. The footprint is all there in the original MJ arcade game.
Save the children, kill the gangsters (with guns), and yessir, as a smooth criminal.
Quoted from Rizmo:Still think Voltron would be great. You need to collect all 5 lions from rescuing the pilots from battles. Then go and form Voltron to kill all the monsters
Sounds great! Stern kinda riffed on that idea with Foo Fighters...

Amen! I've been thinking this would be the ultimate theme for pinball for years! Stern (unfortunately) would never do it justice or get the right vibe/mood. Too much theming and scenic elements and "frills" would be necessary. Jersey Jack on this one I'd say. It'd be timeless and appeal to players of all ages.
Quoted from delt31:Jaws is an amazing theme so you're certainly right there but I'm focusing on the majority of pins being so saturated with marvel.
I think it is six games in the last ten years if you include Spider-man VE and Ironman VE. Out of the 16 games Stern still has on their active game list only 3 are Marvel. Hardly a majority of their games.

Yes!

Nightmare before Christmas is a Disney franchise so you never know

And one has already been built, so all they have to do I manufacture it!

Its not though.
Quoted from paul_8788:I think it is six games in the last ten years if you include Spider-man VE and Ironman VE. Out of the 16 games Stern still has on their active game list only 3 are Marvel. Hardly a majority of their games.
Exactly.
Since 2014 (10 years ago)
2016- spidey vault
2017- guardians (based on the movie but I'm including it anyway)
2018- deadpool
2020- AIQ
2023- venom
2024- Undisclosed marvel pin
They released 24 other games in that time that weren't marvel. Thats not including things like vaults, home models, and contract builds like heavy metal and supreme. I also didn't include bond 60th. Hardly seems like the majority of pins are saturated with marvel. 6 out of 30 games (and technically should be more than 30)
Quoted from Haymaker:Its not though.

yeah, people whining about Marvel fatigue while screaming about bands that haven't been relevant in 40-50 years always makes me chuckle

It would need to be nuanced (like everything from Burton) and Stern doesn’t do nuance. Dutch would probably be the best choice… then Spooky… the JJP… all before Stern

And grown men looking for stupid Marvel superhero garbage makes me chuckle too.

Be careful- you're going to agitate the Marveloids.

Avengers Assemble!

The great thing about pinball (and everything else) is, you don't have to buy/watch/consume what you don't like. Never got the impulse to insult people who like something I don't though. Doesn't seem like something a "grown man" would do. I just nod along and say "glad you enjoy it".
Quoted from John-Floyd:And grown men looking for stupid Marvel superhero garbage makes me chuckle too.
Luckily Goonies is so grown up and adult

The internet is full of people who you will never meet in person, ready to put shit on what you like.
If done right with mechs, layout, music and top code, people will still salivate over a yellow themed comic pin. MSRP and space will be the only hinderance.
Quoted from pinballaddicted:The internet is full of people who you will never meet in person, ready to put shit on what you like.
Sounding as grown up as I can..... but they started it!
Top Gun and Mad Max are two instant theme crushers.
The problem is there just isn’t as many great themes for the $$$
Matrix and HP. Yep.
Too far down the niche road and can’t sell enough. I’m thinking TCM
Quoted from John-Floyd:And grown men looking for stupid Marvel superhero garbage makes me chuckle too.
It's all the same pool of garbage-shit-fantastic when dream themes cum up. A dude stoking himself to a hulk machine isn't any better/worse than you plucking yourself to Pink Floyd.
Well....Pink Floyd is a tiny bit better i guess.
Quoted from finnflash:Sounding as grown up as I can..... but they started it!
Ha ha! None of us have grown up yet. That is why we are on Pinside. It is all in good fun!

Hey I haven’t mentioned Floyd in at least a month! I only stepped in when my 40-50 year old bands got bashed. What can I say, I love my old man music pins!
Quoted from John-Floyd:Hey I haven’t mentioned Floyd in at least a month! I only stepped in when my 40-50 year old bands got bashed. What can I say, I love my old man music pins!
For the record I like a lot of those bands too! My point is that there are as many of us interested in another Marvel theme as there are "old man music" pins...and just as many who want neither
Quoted from ChuckRock:Wasn't the last X-Men pinball machine basically X-Men 96?
Yes but these will go to 97.
Quoted from Yesh23:It’s 100% X-Men 97….. confirmed
Have you seen it? Can we get some potato shots?
Quoted from mbl1116:Have you seen it? Can we get some potato shots?
Definitely need that potatoe shot! Also how would the video assets work. Not enough stuff, especially bad guy footage from the new season.
Quoted from John-Floyd:And grown men looking for stupid Marvel superhero garbage makes me chuckle too.
Dude. You play pinball. You aren't any better than anyone else here.
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:Dude. You play pinball. You aren't any better than anyone else here.
He has like the king of dad rock collection, I feel that makes him slightly better.
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:Dude. You play pinball. You aren't any better than anyone else here.
I could easily nominate this to be a pop-up message each time anyone visits the pinside forums. It would be like:
"Friendly reminder from the good people at Pinside:
Be kind. Be respectful. And remember, we all play pinball.
There's a whole lot of people out there that think it's a weird thing to spend time and money on.
So don't go thinkin' your farts smell better than anyone else's on here."
Quoted from ashmath82:Definitely need that potatoe shot! Also how would the video assets work. Not enough stuff, especially bad guy footage from the new season.
I would think they've acquired the assets for all seasons of the original animated series too, if they in fact have assets from the new series
50 years coming up. The 48 Ford Deluxe spitting balls out back center like Ford Mustang but better, the Shake Shack mech think Champion Pub’s jump rope, the Frosty Palace upper maybe something like TBL’s,and Oh My the spinning Topper where Cha Cha steals Danny away from Sandy topping (yes, Pun) PF’s effort? Can Ya Feel Me!!!

IMG_2308 (resized).jpegI see we've reached the MLB trade deadline-style back and forth with conflicting reports
Either of you fine gentlemen want to sack up and tell us what it is you know? Not like anyone's gonna blacklist you with inventory piling up
I would guess that Stern would give their distributors more than 4 weeks to try to sell more G70th, before dropping a new Cornerstone...
No ?
Quoted from gonzo73:I would guess that Stern would give their distributors more than 4 weeks to try to sell more G70th, before dropping a new Cornerstone...

I think whoever was going to buy a GZ70th has already bought it. Game has been around for a while so most people that wanted one would already have one I feel.
Quoted from pinballaddicted:Come on Cru, what do you think it is?
Cru works for stern. He’s sworn to secrecy
