Per the stern Facebook page

To celebrate the release of #DeadpoolAndWolverine, we're dubbing August the ""Month of Marvel"" at Stern Pinball!

X-men ‘97 has got to by next!

#49302 40 days ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I have only heard Tony Hawk, but I keep throwing Bones Brigade in there when I mention it because it would be a tragedy if Rodney Mullen, especially, is not included. The whole top tier of the Bones Brigade should be in there. Might be a riff on Tony Hawk Pro Skater series of video games, no one I know has any idea of the details. But hoping it's Tony Hawk and the Bones Brigade. Just Mullen callouts ALONE would be amazing. Regardless of what it is, we're WAY overdue for another skateboarding pin, so pretty excited for this one since it should have an amazing soundtrack, too.

Agreed. Hawk, Mullen, Mountain, McGill, Guerrero, and Caballero all being present with a punk/alt/rock soundtrack would be more than I could possibly ever want.

Was going to join my 16 year old’s group of friends to see it tonight. They actually invited me!! But tonight I go with my 22 year old to Gillette Stadium to introduce him to Metallica.

I hope you weren't the guy behind me yelling "play something we want to hear!", "stop playing this slow crap", "RIDE THE LIGHTNING!!!!", it was exhausting

Here is a tip...anytime you missed a show or want to check out what a show will be like from other city tours before going to see them-I always check out Youtube the day after. I was really bummed I missed the last KISS shows in NYC-I should have been there!

I prefer not to see videos of the show or the set list before going and just experience it and have the songs be a surprise if you will.

Oh no-that does not work anymore. I have had to live through way too many shitty shows and now just like pinball-I am super picky of who gets my time and attention

For example Queensryche just came through town and was playing at a small venue right by my home. Usually that would be right up my alley(some classic cheese 80's hairband in small venue). Boy was I wrong when I saved myself from what I would consider a poor show and experience. It also is really helpful trying to determine what Las Vegas residency shows are worthy or not. I don't need to be surprised by shitty acts

Quoted from frankmac:

Master of puppets as the last song was great.

Back years ago (when I actually went to concerts) the audience would keep standing and applauding after the group finished and left the stage, encouraging the group to return and do an encore. The musicians recognized this, and started holding back one of their best songs for the encore.

The ultimate example of this practice was when one-hit-wonder band T. Rex held back their only hit (Bang A Gong) when they left the stage. The audience had been underwhelmed by the concert and had started filing out as soon as the band left the stage. There was no call for an encore, and when T. Rex started coming back out to perform Bang A Gong, they found themselves looking at the backs of the people who were exiting the theater.

After that, most groups continued to hold back a pretty good song to use as an encore, but made sure they ended the last set with their biggest hit so there would be an audience call for an encore.

#49316 39 days ago
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

HOWEVER, even with the above stated, I think we are going to get another pinball reveal ahead of schedule, and it is possible that it happens very, very, very soon. I was never an intel officer, but in my time as a communications officer in the USMC one thing that they hammered into our head was the little things the enemy could do to pick up on our intentions even without being able to read our communications. Do you know who the first people to know the USA was starting its ground invasion in Iraq... in Iraq again... in Afghanistan? Dominos pizza. In every lead up to a major war the Pentagon has people stay late, and there is an uncharacteristically large number of pizza orders going to the Pentagon as a result.
Why do I bring this up? It has now been more than 2 weeks since the biggest (Stern friendly) pinball podcast has had a show. The last time "The Pinball Network" had a gap that long it was in-between a random podcast and the big John Wick reveal episode.
Me thinks the silence is deafening and we are getting an announcement/major news soon.
Tinfoil hat down.
Edit: And here is some juice on the subject from Knapp noting there is a big gap in the Stern Production schedule in August. https://www.knapparcade.org/post/stern-pinball-production-schedule-for-july-august-2024

I just feel like SDCC would have been the absolute best place to intro X97, but maybe they just couldn’t make the timeline fit their development schedule.
If the intention is to unveil and SDCC then it’s another year out.

I miss the days of long shows over 2hours and 20 plus songs, some of this big acts have short set list and 15 songs as headliner just not worth it especially if too many songs off newest album. More bands are constantly touring now which is a good thing instead of waiting years to see them like in the past, too bad half of their voices are gone and the tickets prices doubled or tripled so have to decide if worth it for yourself to go unless you have seen the band multiple times before in their prime. Yes they have to survive its their job and only the fans decide if they keep going.

It probably will never happen but Bones Brigade would be awesome!

I still have my old board from 1986.

Looking like Megadeth has been doing this on their latest tour with HOLY WARS. Would love to hear it but not sure if my nephews have it in them to stay the whole concert in September.

They could also do it at NYCC, which is in October. That would certainly be the highlight for me if it were to happen.

Ruining the surprise of a bands set list in advance, especially these big stadium shows, allows one to enjoy the experience of grabbing a beer and use the restroom during the lame songs. One of the best moments in life.

Stern has officially dubbed August marvel month. I am willing to bet that the last week of August they announce a new marvel machine… X-Men 97.

Got back after metallica night 2. Megadeth is actually my favorite band but I've seen them like 6 times. Metallica was on the bucket list, glad I saw them before they get any older.

Glad I saw them multiple times in the early 90's. Back when they were still drinking and running around the stage and James Hetfield spitting into the audience the whole show and throwing beer into the audience. Yeah the good ole days!

I think there are a lot in the same boat since we haven't had a skateboarding pin in forever. I just hope two things:

1. It's not just Tony Hawk, but him and at least SOME of the Bones Brigade - Mullen is a must for callouts.
2. sk8ball is out of blockbuster monster pin prison and has the design duty on this one. Seems like the best choice.

Since X-Men 97 is one of the strong rumors I figured I'd better watch some and see what it's like. It's like a weird soap opera with super powers, that's what it's like. Too much emotional turmoil instead of interesting storylines and great combat scenes. Maybe I haven't watched enough and there's some big payoff coming but so far it's not impressing me at all. Go ask Ang Lee whether audiences would rather see superheroes work through their emotional issues or smash stuff.

If they want to do a cartoon show, Batman TAS would be a better pick I think.

#49341 37 days ago

If it's a marvel pin that's not xmen-97, what would it be? A while back there was into the spiderverse rumors right? or just wishlisting?
It would be a great one, and the 3rd movie should be out sometime in the next year I would think.

#49342 37 days ago

X-Men 97 is fantastic. No slander will be tolerated! JK, to each their own… but finish it, it’s fantastic. The stories and character development are always what separates X-men TAS from other cartoons.

Anyways if not X97 (or a solo wolverine as a sequel to Deadpool) my hope is Fantastic 4.

#49343 37 days ago

A Wolverine pin as the ying to Deadpool’s yang would be INTERESTING!

It would make sense how people would think its Xmen 97 but instead its Jacks sequel to his beloved Deadpool!

Plus there would be DP team ups and thus explains Nolan North inclusion and thus extra callouts in new code.

#49344 37 days ago

I bet you a Wolverine pin was greenlit when the movie was announced.

#49345 37 days ago

If they do a wolverine pin, and release like a special edition of Deadpool with some artwork that ties into wolverine, and maybe a code update to Deadpool to add a couple of new bosses... They could print some money.

Hmm, so stern might have a broader relationship with Lionsgate than just the John Wick franchise?
Borderlands movie seems like a weird pick for a game, so i'm thinking just a cross promotion but who knows.

But if there are more titles on the way i'm going to enjoy hearing the comments dreading pinballs based off of the Twilight Saga or The Hunger Games

I don't think it's that weird of a pick. The Borderlands movie is a Marvel franchise.
