Quoted from Saltimbanco:

That IJ trailer looks mighty good if you haven't checked it out.. dunno about Stern, but IJ 5 and Top Gun Maverick don't sound so bad..![quoted image]

So happy Sallah is back (John Rhys-Davies), great actor. I feel good about this one to close it out unlike the one that won't be mentioned. Always kind of hoped they'd do a Fate of Atlantis translation from game to movie.

Stern posted that it's last call for their three home editions (Star Wars, Star Wars Comic Art, and Jurassic Park). Does this mean they're sticking a fork in Home Edition™?

#34358 3 months ago
Quoted from Ty-Arnold:

A lot of cars like Mustang GT and corvettes are investments because they are actually selling over sticker price. Sometimes 50g over sticker. But most people don't know this. Right now you can invest in the right car and make money. But once again most people...

New cars are terrible investments, unless that Mustang or Corvette is some rare low numbers car or last off the assembly line that’s documented sold at Barrett Jackson.

I doubt it. I think they just have a lot more profitable premiums and limited editions they can be building and selling vs home games.

If the economy does tank, I expect to see them come back if the orders on more profitable games drop enough.

Or maybe there's enough inventory in the channel that they will are taking a break for a year or two on making them and will reevaluate later.

Home games seems like a Gomez passion project.

#34360 3 months ago

Why do you guys keep interrupting with these pinball discussions??

Can’t you see I am trying to shore up my investment portfolio? Sheez.

#34361 3 months ago

good point. i hear sega pins are excellent investments.

#34362 3 months ago

something about them being made in america.

#34363 3 months ago

ok. i guess thats it. just to clarify sega pins are not good investments as they are not made in america.

I highly doubt they would ever release the home pins again unless, they drop the price where its around $3500. They are too close to the Pros in price. I think anyone would want a pro over a home edition

I'm honestly surprised they haven't removed coin mechs from all NIB pins to cut costs "If you wish to have your machine earn money, buy our official coin mech kit!".

Its that time of year again. Please Stern can one Christmas have a holiday boutique release?! Even if its next year. I want to pull this pin out annually with my Christmas tree.

It'd be great if there was a Pinbot like ramp that a Santa boot could push the ball down

Reuse the bullseye target from Iron Maiden for Red Rider target shooting

A skinny metal pole that could be magnetized like a tongue is frozen to it

a flasher lamp designed like a certain Italian Major Award

maybe a frenzy mode with the old man giving different profanities

Must have an "ooooh fuuuuuudge" mode. Kind of like "bullshit" mode in STh.

#34371 3 months ago

"Deck the how wif baw of forry, Fa ra ra ra ra . . . ." Maybe a Scott Fargus bash toy like Austin Powers?

Quoted from PinMonk:

after scoring enough in The Old Man profanity mode, you collect a super jackpot, Ralphie says "ohhhh fudge", a short light show, then it goes dark, kill the flippers, then play

Ralphie: Only I didn't say 'fudge' I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word!
The Old Man: What did you say?
Ralphie : Um...
The Old Man : That's what I thought you said. Get in the car

Then you start soap in the mouth victory laps multi ball till you drain back to single ball play

edit: or maybe after so many flips, the flippers die, and it says "it was soap poisoning"

Quoted from TreyBo69:

Well times are different? Idk what to tell you.
If you wanna drive a forklift, places are happy to train you if you reliably show up. It only takes 1-2 days of training.

I deal with a pretty large local material supplier. I always call in or email my orders and they deliver so I rarely go there. Last week I needed something quick and stopped into their office to pick something up. They had a large 2’x2’ sign next to the office calendar that said days since a warehouse employee callout sick day. There was a #2 written on a piece of paper taped to the sign. I asked if it was an office joke and he said No and it never goes higher than 3 days ever!

Two weeks ago A carpet installer showed up at a project to install about 1500sf of carpet. There was a big roll probably 2-1/2’ -3’ diameter. He cuts off the shrink wrap protecting it and gets really angry. A forklift operator had speared directly thru the entire roll with both forks. The installer says WTF! You would have had to ram at full speed to make it all the way thru!

White shrink wrap is a careless forklift drivers best friend!

It’s probably coming soon! Bean counter at Stern thinks now that many of our customers are putting these machines in their homes. Why include something that may never ever get used?

I’m still pissed about the stupid flip clamps on the lockdown bars and moving the power switch to the side of the head.
Damn you Stern!!

Another Christmas Story mode idea: you have to try to plug something into an overloaded outlet.

You make shots to turn on mode arrows and plug something in; you shoot lit mode arrows to unplug something. Different parts of the game go dark and do sparking-lightshows while you try to make the shots

#34376 3 months ago

If there's gonna be a Christmas themed pin you can also make arguments for National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. "Shitter's Full Multiball"

They can just re-theme Godzilla into Die Hard also.

You got some great ideas! The game has to have a functioning christmas tree on the playfield.

Clear Moose Horn topper with a off-white light and charge 1k. Excellent.

Christmas Tree progress meter?

There could be a center playfield art of a Christmas Tree with small bonus inserts for string lights, larger inserts of various shapes for modes and objectives visualized as ornaments, and lightning bolt inserts for plugging the tree into the overloaded outlet.

Presents around the tree for various rewards and objectives completed by the player. It lights because you opened the gift.

Super wizard mode is the star on top

I have another idea about the "battle opponent" aspect that could be really really good.

The best part about playing Street Fighter or MK in the arcade was that you could play against someone and if you were good...you were rewarded with playing the next game free, the next challenger pays to play, you dont.

What if you had 2 machines linked up just like the racing games did? Where it waits for a challenger to join then you battle eachother. You drain, you lose the round. You hit enough lit shots, you beat the opponent. Best of 3 rounds wins the match.

Lets say you only have one machine but want to battle someone...Scan your personal barcode into insider connect and it asks you if you wish to play against someone via the internet...your random opponent's gamer tag pops up and the battle begins.

This could be really good.

Can we pretend European Vacation never existed? (IMO only Vacation and Christmas Vacation were memorable)

With all this talk about Christmas themed pins it hit me that Home Alone wouldn't be a terrible fit either.

But it also had T to go along with that A... lol.

And a repeatable looping shot would be perfect for that “look kids” callout as you circle a sculpt of BigBen and Parliament.

Yeah but you get to pick and choose a few of the best parts

Imagine a roundabout like shot where you lock a ball and it keeps circling until you lock enough balls.

I guess I'd just rather play a pin with a them from a great movie instead of seeing stuff shoe horned because they are in the same franchise. I get it though.

On a sad side-note it's really sucks hearing stories about how miserable it has been in recent years to work with Chevy.

Damn you Stern!!

I must be the only person who likes the flip clamps. The lockdown bar is always nice and snug and never needs any adjustment. I've had to turn those two screws and slightly bend the lockdown bar tabs on all four of my B/W's to get the lockdown bars snug and in their proper place. Just seems like it overkill when those two flip clamps work just fine. I do enjoy the classic setup once I get them dialed in though.

On a route we had a couple machines where the screws holding the clip plate to the cab eventually pulled loose over time, which was a pain to fix since wood had to be reintroduced so it would grab well again. But for home? Probably fine.
