I agree!

Quoted from PinStalker:Terrible table..... but look at those graphics right off an 80's blister pack!!! That would be soooooo good!!
Easy dream theme for me.
GI Joe (season 1)
Transformers (g1)
Master of the Universe (season 1)
That would be the ultimate trifecta.
Some real 80's nostalgia pins.

Would you pay $7k for a Bally Playboy retheme? I would hope not.

I was talking about the theme! I doubt that stern would make a playboy retheme! I would assume they would put a little spin on a machine in 2022!

Then it seems you should be specific about you are asking.

Seawitch retheme with minor adjustments = Beatles. I don't recall anyone ever asking for that layout to be Beatles. Many did ask for a Seawitch remake though in the past.

That layout looks like a 10 year old designed it. I wouldn’t pay $1,000 for it delivered.

Quoted from docquest:

I listened to that episode and at about the 70min mark when Franchi and Chris say they know what license Jack is talking about Franchi starts humming the James Bond theme (but then they also play the first few notes of jaws theme in rhe background). The theme Franchi was humming though was defintely Bond not Jaws.
So could the "just a movie poster worth of assets" refer to Bond instead of Jaws? I hope not cuz, I think Bond would translate to a pinball game much better than Jaws.

I'd welcome Jaws or Bond. Just no more band pins for a while. With the exception of Iron Maiden I've never played a band pin I was able to get into.

#29016 1 year ago

Hey not the next one out the door, but they've done tv stuff before. With the "90s show" coming, a "That 70s show" has a lot of material if they could license the tunes.....

Quoted from HydrogenHuman:

Dad rockers probably dislike anime too much for Stern to take the risk, but maybe an older anime like Speed Racer could be appealing.

I grew up on Speed Racer and Robotech, enjoy Miyazaki, but anything with a Naruto or Pokemon vibe is eye cancer to me. And I'm something of a dad rocker, so... story checks out?

Almost anything would translate better than Jaws. He's right, "a movie poster" is about as expansive as it gets for Jaws.

Depending on assets Bond could be super deep. Or do they create their own? Use all the bonds as different modes? like star wars and the character use there.

I think if they tied the code into the style of the movie then Jaws could be a very unique pinball.

After pressing start you stand there staring at an empty lifeless ocean themed playfield for and hour until slowly the derr dummmm build up starts. Then suddenly multiball is auto launched and the playfield lighting goes dim so you can't really see what is going on. Everything flashes at random giving you no clue what to do before as quickly as it had begun all the balls are drained and you stand there waiting for the next multiball to begin.

That would be a bold choice, that's for sure.

The Boys
Star Trek Strange New Worlds
John Wick
Fast & Furious
Mortal Kombat
DREDD
Mario Kart

Anyone of of these I’d be excited to buy.

I was just thinking last night, if Stern is doing Jaws, they should totally launch it during Shark Week! (going on now).

Mortal Kombat or Mario Kart would probably make me sell the GZ Premium I'm supposed to be getting from this July run so that I could get one of them instead.

I don't know that it would make a good pinball, but I've been actively watching the 1979 Gundam OVAs on Netflix on the rowing machine. It's great watching a clean legit copy.

As a kid I saw a few episodes on adult swim, and bought a bootleg copy off of ebay. The bootleg copy was a VHS of a Chinese VCD rip of the original dubbed in Chinese with English subtitles complete with the DVD menu at the start of each episode. Remember how you used to be able to make 6 hour long VHS tapes. My favorite quote from the subtitles was when it said, "Ready make the Tampon Fire!" and the ships cannons were shot.

Good times.

I just hope what ever theme the next game is it sells above expectations. That way they can continue to grow and hire more staff to really pump these out and push the envelope for future titles.

That's too old-school.... the new way is to wait a year, and only after putting down a non-refundable deposit.
This is far superior, as you have a year of anticipation to build up before delivery.
It makes for happier pinheads too, as all will have skin in the game and have to "tow the line" instead of tomato'ing machines with "Free-choice" and objectivity.
The natural ups and downs of cycling between buyers remorse and the elation of news releases/teasers will be more fun than the pin itself!!!

What the manufacturers need to come to terms with is taking in all that money, creating and storing all the pins, then shipping them all at once!!!
The pinworld will melt down in week-long orgy of happiness and disappointment as all rip open their boxes after a year of rumor, spin, propaganda and conjecture.
After a week of playing, the exhausted pinheads need a new fix, yank out their wallet, and the blind cycle begins anew!!

The ultimate new-school rush will be the annual "Surprise Pin", where you put all the money down, wait a year for the box to arrive, and no one knows what's inside!!!
12K for a one day only LE!!! Get it or not!!!
Is it BTTF? Is it Transformers G1?
Only Gary knows.... and he has your 12K!!!!
After a year of waiting, the big truck arrives, an event replaying all around the country and the world..... could it be Jaws? Or My Little Pony?
A 12K pin turning into 30K if it happens to be GI Joe Season One, Michael Jackson, or Voltron.......... or does the pin end up being worth 6K as a Matrix 4, Rambo 3, or Hanson Umm-Bop?
Howls of outrage on pinside over missing the "Dream Theme of their Life!!!"...... or outrageous laughter over the stupidity of playing the pin casino and getting Rainbow Brite?

"Imagine all the people....... pin'ing 'round the world...... WoooHoooo---Arrrrahhhh'Garryyyy"

Voltron please. ThunderCats, Star Blazers would all be great.

One can only dream of Voltron. 5 lions collected to form a mechanical Voltron & multi-ball, the mech of all mechs.

Maybe Elwin & the same team who did Godzilla or Gomez could one day pull it off.

Bond and Back to the Future would be great themes for a pin, but doesn't seem very Stern. But did find Godzilla to be a surprise.

Loved this show as a kid. Would of loved to pilot a lion. Now as an adult it looks tiring. You are the left leg after forming Voltron your ass has to run all the way up to the head. You put in a transfer to be a lion in the arm or the main lion. They tell you one day but it never happens. You are stuck running around that giant robot.

Star Blazers ! I bought the entire series on DVD about 10 years ago. Great show. Hard to believe it’s from 1979.
I gave a few discs to by buddies son for Christmas. He is a huge Star Wars fan. Anyway a couple years later he was off to college. My buddy said that he didn’t take much with him but he took the Star Blazers dvds that you gave him! I asked him about it on a holiday break when he was home. He said his friends really liked it but had never heard of it before.

Spooky is best/only chance. Evangelion / Cowboy Bebop / Ghost In The Shell are most popular and would be Day 1 for me.

Ghost in the Shell would be an auto buy for me. Robotech would also be right up there.
