absolutely weird and unmarketable.
Uh oh…Here come all the people to claim that “anyone under the age of fifty can’t afford to buy pins and so Stern should not make 80’s/90’s pins”.
W R O N G.
Quoted from Zartan:I’m in my mid 40’s think most of those are really weird ideas. 80’s - 90’s era pins should definitely be what they are looking to do though.
I’ve seen it mentioned in the past and would totally support and purchase a Batman Animated Series. Maybe even dive into that universe a bit with Superman Animated Series and Batman Beyond. Possibly a bit of the Justice League stuff too.
Then thinking about all the other at home cartoons while 40 year olds were growing up I’m thinking Animaniacs (which was just rebooted on Hulu) and Tiny Toons (but that’s when WB was large in the 90s but maybe not as popular now). I’m sure there are others I’m missing that’s in that 90s window after the 80s mix of He-Man, Thundercats, and GI Joe.
Edit: X-Men animated series would be another now they are rebooting but may be redundant with the existing pins. The animated Spider-Man show was awesome too but same there.
Quoted from SLCpunk2113:Green Day would be a great pin.
Sounds about as appealing as Foo Fighters. Bunch of whining, complaining and bringing the party down, man!

If Jaws was announced I’d make room for an LE instantly.

Not going to lie, as a kid of the 70s/80s - a Jaws pin kind of excites me.

Dude I was born late 80s that movie is classic. I don’t care who you are it’s great, plus the impact it had on the movie industry is unparalleled. First Blockbuster!
Quoted from Micky:[quoted image]
What could you possibly center a pin around a band like Greenday or Foo Fighters. They don't have a central theme, they don't have a mascot or artwork that's you know the band its representing. I just don't see it happening.

This already looks like a backglass to me.

Sadly, I was born early 70s, but a Jaws theme doesn’t move me. If Elwin is the designer I’m sure it’ll play well and I might change my mind, but atm it’s an easy pass.

And what else? Also, you know Stern aint going to blow farts as back glass.
Seriously, without looking it up, can you name 14 Foo Fighters or Greenday songs?
My future projects include sound modding, in entirety, 2011 Transformers and 2012 X-Men with their animated counterparts.

You’re literally a meme right now.
Quoted from SLCpunk2113:You’re literally a meme right now.
Says I'm a meme, without posting even any attempt at a meme.
Rookie.

Ok Boomer. I'll read all that info, regarding a meme, as opposed to posting a meme. Shall I program your vcr?
Quoted from trecemaneras:I don’t think I could name 14 songs by any music pin band. Therefore none of them deserve to exist.
Cemetery gates.
New level.
Slaughtered.
This love.
Mouth for war.
5 minutes alone.
Shedding skin.
Hollow.
By demons be driven.
Fucking hostile.
Walk.
I’m broken.
A new level.
Regular people.
Cowboys from hell.
Yesterday don’t mean shit.
Ok, it’s a GO for pantera!
Name 14 Pink Floyd songs over 40 bpm that wouldn’t put you to sleep while playing the pin.
Quoted from Pinballs:Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd please.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Name 14 Pink Floyd songs over 40 bpm that wouldn’t put you to sleep while playing the pin.
I have been pondering the same thing for a while now… that said I am starting to wonder if it wouldn’t actually be enjoyable for the tempos to not always be so frenetic and fast paced (i.e. change it up).
Don’t get me wrong, the ‘gallop’ of nearly all songs on IMDN make for a great fast paced shooting experience… but I often will put some Floyd/Dead/Yes on while playing, and know others who do it while competing as well to calm it down and focus themselves (perhaps even mixing a little ‘Hobbit’s Leaf’ with it.) I think it could be a cool change of pace actually.
I want a Megadeth pin, absolutely… but I would also love to see a Pink Floyd and Yes pin.
Pink Floyd would be a snooze fest. I can’t think of any of their songs that bring high energy excitement.
Quoted from Pinplayer1967:Pink Floyd would be a snooze fest.
At least there are Pinstadiums to light up The Darkside of the Moon !
Quoted from Pinplayer1967:I can’t think of any of their songs that bring high energy excitement.
This was sort of my whole point - I personally don’t need ‘high energy excitement’ 100% of the time.
Pink Floyd will never happen, the writing is on the wall (see what I did there). They are billionaires that dont give a hoot about a pinball machine and they will never put the Pink Floyd on a machine like this. That and the fragmentation of ideologies within the band members, I dont see the license ever happening, they can't play together let alone license their name for a pinball, forget it.
I dont see either Foo Fighters nor Green Day and personally I would not buy either.
Quoted from BasementFacts:Oh Jesus not the dad rock debate again.
Stern is in the business to make money and rock pins sell! If pinside was running Stern it would go bankrupt within a year.
Quoted from Roostking:And what else? Also, you know Stern aint going to blow farts as back glass.

Maybe you can't, but Foo Fighters have oodles of songs to fill a pinball.....way more deserving than a Rush pinball machine and Stern made that....
Taken from billboard.com. 18 chart hits!

Hmmm... 90 minutes of grown men rolling around on the grass holding their ankles, crying more than the average two year old?? Sorry, not into it.
Quoted from Billygrippo:Ok, it’s a GO for pantera!
See, I think they're either deserving or not based on their own merits, not on some arbitrary gatekeeper threshold.
(but I know you're in on the joke )
Pantera is not my jam personally, but I swear, any guitarist who's not in awe of Dimebag's drop d wizardry... The list of guitarists who could write a riff as well as he could is very, very short imo.
Quoted from ahdelarge:Taken from billboard.com. 18 chart hits!
...of which 3 are good and the other 15 are because of fading rock stations trying to remain current so they threw whatever hook-less crap FF put out there and thanked them for the opportunity. It was either that or playing the new Imagine Dragons songs which neither classify as rock nor music.
So just to recap: Just about every rock band in existence > Foo Fighters > My ex screaming in my ear > Imagine Dragons

Agree. Green day is worse though. Talentless noise.
Foo fighters at least is catchy
I'm surprised Stern hasn't looked at doing a video game based pin in recent years.
I would think Mario Bros, Zelda, Pokémon would all be solid choices that would sell like crazy. Maybe licensing is an issue or tougher to secure?
There's also Halo or Call of Duty, but older pinheads may not like those.
The only remaining “Dad rock” pins I want to see is Sabbath and Hendrix. Both would be amazing and sell like hot cakes.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:The only remaining “Dad rock” pins I want to see is Sabbath and Hendrix. Both would be amazing and sell like hot cakes.
those are great! I think I started this last round by suggesting that the "dad rock" window has moved forward slightly. My bad, I'm new here and learned my lesson. (FWIW, I worked at the plastic guitar companies during the craze and am well aware of what/how popular relative bands are vs how hard they are to acquire)
Would be in for a smooth flowing Yacht Rock pin in a second, lol.
Would also buy LEs of any Nintendo property. They have been more interested in licensing out lately (Universal Studios, Movie, Lego, etc) so it's more possible than ever. A Mario machine w/ Charles Martinet callouts + those old sounds would EARN, IMO.
Since dad rock pins won't be dying out anytime soon, I may as well suggest pins that could be possible:
Queen
Judas Priest
The Police
Journey
Any one of those I'd be pumped to see as a pin.
A Mario machine would kill.
Queen is going to be done by Pinball Brothers I believe.
