It's definately not a usual Stern game but then again, it was the 30th anniversary and with JJP expanding to the higher price market, why shouldn't Stern? Batman Premium is still available, not limited, made inside Stern so what exactly is 'boutique' here?
Non-Cornerstone are Vaults and Titles you don't buy via Stern itself and/ or usual retailers like Pabst Blue Ribbon, Supreme, even Spiderman Home in a way.
So now you're redefining Whoa Nellie as NOT a boutique (when it is/was), because you could buy it from Stern and usual retailers? They probably still have some in the warehouse.

At this point you'd be nuts to buy a machine from any seller before you've seen it, played it, and are happy with what you'll actually be getting. Not that that was ever logical behavior, but there's no excuse for it in 2018.

Whoa Nellie was released in 2011 when there was no 'boutique' (no Spooky, no Zidware..) in terms of pinball.
So altough it -from todays standpoint- seems 'boutique' it then just was 'kinda odd' and produced, marketed and sold the usual way. (And would it have taken off there would be thousands of this game around.)
And we were talking about 'cornerstone titles' wich as well is a term/ part of a mixed business modell Stern didn't have in 2011.
So the assumption that Whoa Nellie is a boutique game is basically the same as:
"Is a horse in hindsight just an oldtimer (car)?"

The dumbest Stern-est seminar setup. All the other ones had the stage and an inset with the other screen. Gomez is talking and pointing at a screen non-stop that's nowhere on the screen. Dumb, but very Stern. All the other manufacturers could manage to do this presentation stage right, but not Stern. Sigh.

Iron Maiden reveal "maybe in April" and "April, I think."
Elvira 3 will happen, but they need a software engineer to work on it.
They plan on doing another Super LE.
Gomez made a wink-wink reference to a Lord of the Rings vault edition in the process of answering a question about putting LCDs in vaults.
Stern will get more technical information out to end users on Spike 2 node boards to enable better diagnosis and repair in the field.
After talking about how robust and balanced Spike/2 is (SAM and WPC-95 had "growing pains" too!), Gomez immediately segues into saying how fragile Spike/2 power budgets are and that users have damaged theirs by modding them. The irony of this immediate juxtaposition in his talk is apparently lost on him.
Batgirl is coming to Batman'66 code.

It doesn't sound like this year to me, and Gomez was doing significant verbal acrobatics to come up with the words he used, so it sounds like there are problems. My opinion.
after getting my acdc luci ve idgaf about any of the new sterns for 2018. another sle money grab for suckers? live and learn people avoid those like the plague.
spike 2 has power issues and cant handle mods? what a joke.
right now i am looking at spooky tna, alice cooper and chicago gaming revivals.
