Please no!!!!!!

Ritchie doesnt even care anymore. Im sick of his same 3 games over and over.
Dwight is hit or miss. I have no beef but do have other programmers id prefer.
Zombie Yeti is my favorite Stern artist but i do like the work Randy has done so far.

Basically, keep Ritchie away from any theme im interested in please. There is already one BTTF pin i dont want to play. I dont need another.

Steve Ritchie is one of the greatest pinball designers of all time. He is so good that unfortunately he seems to draw the short straw as far as BoM, assets and artists. He has a wonderful alliance with Tim Sexton who has led some great code. Im not ever gonna give up on "The King" im hoping Steve and Tim have greater opportunities to really cut loose on their next title.

Agreed, he takes up the majority of my collection other than a Borg, Nordman and a Gomez. Never give up on the King.

Is pinball blasphemy against a pinball god a punishable offence?

How about Picnic at Hanging Rock?
I love that movie. Gallipoli too. Peter Weir is awesome.

Of all the Aussie movies , you pick those two
I'll give you 3 Melbourne movies to check out .

He's not lying! His last three machine have been turds!

Dwights coding seems to be getting better but I'm guessing that more to do with it being a team effort!

#19461 2 years ago

I love 80s Steve Ritchie games but have little interest in his more recent work. As long as you guys are enjoying them thats great. I just feel like he calls in most of his games and hopes the code will make up for it eventually. To each their own.

Gimme the Deadpool team on a new BTTF, please.

The rumor is that Steve is out at Stern and is headed to JJP imminently. I have opinions as to the fit of the man and the company, but shall keep them to myself as less than constructive.

**I am only relaying rumor, and have no personal knowledge of its veracity.

#19464 2 years ago

BTTF should use the stranger things concept and have 1955 and 1985 playfields using the UV light.

That would be a strange fit.

Ritchie games are always fast.

JJP games are always slow.

I feel the same way about Borg games and his monotargets. Cannot stand that TMNT has them. On the other hand some of my favorite games are Star Wars, Game of Thrones, ACDC, and Spider-Man. Those and the KE games Make up 7 out of my top 10. To each their own I guess.

BTTF
Power Rangers
Mortal Kombat

Anything that’s gone through each generation of my family is a winner here!

I've heard the rumor and it appears to be true, based on speaking with someone in the know.

No reason to hold back on your opinion. Based on what you've hinted at, I am pretty sure that I would agree it!

Can’t stand heavy synthesizers and have never enjoyed a Rush’s song ever.

Even Working Man?

#19472 2 years ago
Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

Yeah but I was being a bit tongue in cheek with my reference ie a big Aus band that would be obscure to the US (as per my reply to Screaminr's post which was in the same vein), like Rush is to Aus. Air Supply were of course massive globally.

Awesome bands (that never made it in the U.S) for an Aussie/NZ retheme of Rush;
Divinyls
Cold Chisel
Australian Crawl
Sherbet
Split Enz
Icehouse
Noiseworks
Baby Animals (had some success in the U.S)

Don’t get me wrong - keep listing these bands, because I have more things I can check out, and I don’t really want to be some sort of Rush evangelist… people like what they like… but you are suggesting a retheme of a possible pin of a band you aren’t even sure you don’t enjoy?

#19474 2 years ago

Also, those of us of a certain age in the US all know Divinyls and Icehouse.

Unlike the other Aussies here (it seems) I do know Rush quite well but I grew up as a hard rock kid in the 80s revelling in anything I could get my hands on from the U.S or Canada. (And as a drummer you couldn't not love Neil Peart) Having said that, while you can't help but admire their musicianship, for me personally, the songs arent what I want to play pinball to. I would rather something either more fun ie Van Halen or more irreverent ie Beastie Boys... (would buy either of those in a heartbeat) was just having a bit of fun re the Aussie bands.

I hear you - you can’t change what you do or don’t like. It may change (or not) but it just is what it is.

Right? Arguing over whether one band is 'better' than another is ridiculous. Can argue for what is more popular, sure. Can even mount arguments that some artists maybe arent quite as suited to a pinball machine even if you love their music... Enya pinball anyone?

Here are some numbers I grabbed from the "Owners" page for recent Stern games.

Since LE quantities are known, you can extrapolate to get an idea of the true total.

As much as I love the hooks Radio Birdman are my favorite Aussie band. A Radio Birdman pin would be insanely cool.

Don’t go on about Oz bands....
Be hearing they want a Savage Garden pin!

Split Enz is a kiwi band!
Australia always try’s to take credit for our better things we have given the world. Pavlova desert!

Lots of cool kiwi bands. I really like The Bats, saw them a few times in the 90s.

Enough about Australian bands, if Australia is going to contribute to a pinball theme, there is only one we need....

Dvinyls had a massive US hit with 'I touch myself'. I was in LA at the time visiting when it was blowing up big on radio. Split Enz were Crowded House predecessor, but yeah nothing happened in the US till Crowded house. Aus Crawl was my going to be re-theme suggestion but then I thought I'd go bigger again and suggest Chisel, given the ultimate irony of how massive they were/are here akin to the Yanks talking about how big Rush were there (even though not personally a massive Chisel fan). The other's are good ones too.

With Stern typically producing 4-9 pins per year, and only 1 produce do far in 2021, how the hell do they plan to cram in another 3-8 this year when it’s just about August already? Do we see any chance of more than 1 more pin being produced and delivered in 2021?
