Iron Maiden IS a retheme. So...you want a re-theme of a re-theme then?
Quoted from dinot:Shrek was a re-themed Family Guy. So they have done it before. To me that wasn't a huge departure as IMO, the person who'd buy a FG might be the same person who'd buy a Shrek.
I'd like them to re-theme Iron Maiden. I have zero interest in that theme. But re-theme with something completely different where you wouldn't be going after the same customer. So don't re-theme with another Metal band is what I am saying.
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Iron Maiden IS a retheme. So...you want a re-theme of a re-theme then?
The original theme would be nice
Quoted from TheLaw:Produced at the same time.
Incorrect. Shrek is the reskin.

*sigh* yes, we all know a little upstart from Jersey named Jack wanted to....blah blah blah. The point is they had just made FGY and had PFs laying around...it wasn't 7 years later.
EDIT: Did they really only make FGYs in 2007? I could be wrong there...assumed they went longer like now.
Quoted from Roostking:I wonder if Stern might do this more often,as it really seems like a no brainer.
More monies, more time, more hours; for what outcome? Is Stern having problems selling games?
EDIT: That's not even mentioning that it's just lazy as shit

I think you answered your own "Edit". If they have a successful layout, I would fully expect them to go the lazy route. A lot of development costs would go away.
Quoted from Roostking:...If they have a successful layout, I would fully expect them to go the lazy route. A lot of development costs would go away.
Ha too true. I don't know if I'd call TWD a successful layout though...lots pf people don't care for it. IMDN; for sure.

I did not care for TWD and loved the layout of IMDN but not a fan of the band. I would buy a rethemed Maiden.
Quoted from TheLaw:I dont think Stern has ever re-skinned any machine with a new theme have they? So I would assume the chance is 0%.
More than a simple reskin, but GOTG is the MET layout.
Quoted from Purdue:More than a simple reskin, but GOTG is the MET layout.
OK so we're just gonna get lost in the weeds here? Every Borg layout is a Lawlor reskin which is a re skin of his other titles and every SR release is a reskin of a SR
The closest you'll get is Beatles and significant changes where made with that, including a horribly huge license fee that basically buried the thing. So there's a reskin that kind of went horribly wrong for 'us',' yet probably worked out well for Stern?
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Iron Maiden IS a retheme. So...you want a re-theme of a re-theme then?
Iron Maiden is a re-theme of what?
Quoted from Purdue:More than a simple reskin, but GOTG is the MET layout.
Many pins have similar layouts, but what we are talking about is a reskin. Ala FG/Shrek or Halloween/Ultra-Man. With a similar theme you still need a designer to build it from scratch. A re-theme only needs new art (and toys)/software. Much lower costs
Quoted from frankmac:BTTF let’s go Stern.

This picture made me really feel old! I feel like they should still look like they did in the 80’s! It’s been like 40 years! Crazy!
Quoted from gonzo73:Archer.
C'mon keep up.
We played it at Banning.
I get what you are saying, but for the others
Stern didn't release an Archer and then retheme it.
Quoted from finnflash:Beatles is a re theme, isnt it?
Kinda but not really. If they had a pro maybe they could have dumbed it down to a reskin.
Quoted from Hayfarmer:What do you suppose this means? I hope its not wifi for updates cuz our internet is horrible .

That means that in their next pinball machine your goal will be to save the earth. So BTTF is it as you will need to correct timelines....or wait Godzilla...dang it.

Don't mind me, my bone dry sarcastic humor does not translate to pinside.
I love what Spooky has done with the new machine, more options in our hobby is great.
Lots of extra work, yes.
But the Ultramans sold out.
Cheers.

I totally got your comment (as sarcastic). I just followed up for others that may not have gotten it. Which is why I said "I get what you are saying"

Most likely it means Stern will have WiFi compatibility with online play for its Spike 2 games. They’re only a couple decades behind!

Jack had nothing to do with Shrek. Dreamworks approached Stern asking then to do a Shrek pin. Gary has told this story a few times at expos. They didn't want to invest full R&D in a Shrek pin, so they reskinned Family Guy which wasn't selling well at the time. And it wasn't because they had playfields laying around. It's not like they sanded them down and had Shrek printed on them. They made more runs of Family Guy at later dates and another run of Shrek in 2010.

So is that a triple Re?

Honestly, this sounds like Gary’s plans from years ago: WIFI enable pins. Would make sense in the context of the message and it affecting a bunch of pins.

Kinda like Star Wars
Quoted from transprtr4u:World changing ... no more tiers just fully loaded games with all assets included ...
They didnt specify WHOS world is changing. I predict all worlds, as Stern left how much $$$$ on the table with Mando and the clamoring for BTTF, Jaws, not to mention Welk? I see significant price increases and they will still sell out!

Wouldn't you just be able to remove the SD card, burn the proper game file to it, and re-insert it to fix any attempt by hackers to modify your game to lock you out?
Quoted from TheLaw:I dont think Stern has ever re-skinned any machine with a new theme have they? So I would assume the chance is 0%.
Though the themes are basically interchangeable, you have Nascar/Grand/DaleJr all as different versions of the same layout. Then you have WNBJM/Pabst/Primus as a recent example. Then there are the home games, but there's slight differences between SM/Supreme/SW. Old one would be NFL/Striker.
Before my time back in the hobby, but wasn't Sharkey's also a reskin of something?
Quoted from tonyf1965:I have 2 black cats. I am gonna have to get the LE version of Claws.
Sorry, sold out

Dialed in re-theme...
