Get your credit card. Just pick out if you want the package in a Dragon's Lair or Space Ace Cabinet.

I'm in.

Sorry for hijacking the thread for a non stern pinball topic. Please feel free to resume the discussion of BTTF or Godzilla and how disappointing either game will be for lack of assets, code, video, and/or sound.

#19102 2 years ago
Quoted from Pinkitten:

For sure. It was way too hard for kids playing in public with other people watching and way too expensive. But a pinball version could be a blast, and the artwork was always pretty iconic. Plus, if you have the home version, at least you don’t have to keep feeding it quarters!

new wave toys is awesome. I have 1942 and 1943 coming.

You were able to order early due to past purchases, right? I’m waiting to get notified that I can order one. I put in my order for Q*Bert today.

#19104 2 years ago

Iron Maiden re-themed (or un-re-themed?) to Archer would be awesome.

#19105 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

What are the odds that I’ll get my John Borg / Lyman Sheats Rush dream pin in 2022? I’m in on pretty much anything they release together, but Rush would be amazing.

RUSH is coming! It's not next (Godzilla is) but RUSH is coming!

Archer doesn't really do it for me, but I think have Iron Maiden re-themed for a new pin is a great idea. The layout is top notch and super fun to shoot.

I just ordered. Not sure about the past purchase thing. I did buy the coin machine usb multi port charger last year. I ordered 1942 & 1943 months ago. Coming soon in qtr 3. You may have missed the boat on 1942/43. Congratulations on Qbert. I suck at that game so going to skip.

Quoted from Lounge:

You BTTF guys ….
Let me tell you why I don’t think BTTF will happen. And if by some miracle it does happen, you will probably be disappointed.
Let’s take Jurassic Park as an example. License for the title - check - not terribly difficult. Then they have to go to every actor to license their likeness. That includes ANY scene where the actor is visible or any soundbite from the actor. That’s why the only likeness in the playfield of JP is Nedry and there are ZERO movie clips and ZERO actor callouts in the pin. You don’t have to pay a TRex.
Name one actor that was a Ninja Turtle…. didn’t think so - nobody cares who played Donatello. Cheaper licensing.
This is why Stern loves the superhero pins - they’re easy. One stop license. Do you see Robert Downey Jr on AIQ as Iron Man with his helmet off … no. Do you hear his voice … no. You don’t even see Robert Downey Jr on Iron Man the pin?
Do you really want a BTTF without Michael J Fox or any of the other actors?? Neither does anyone else. That shit’s too expensive with all the assets. Just ask JJP (POTC) - they almost went under building that pin.
Bottom line is, Stern isn’t going to shell out that kind of coin for a license when they can make more on the gap with lesser licenses like Godzilla. No actors, no problems.
I could be wrong but look at the pattern folks.

National Lampoon's Vacation would be a funny theme. Get the Wagonqueen Family Truckster from Chicago to CA for Wallyworld Wizard Mode! Visit Uncle Eddie in Kansas and collect Aunt Edna! Deposit Aunt Edna in AZ, and "bow your heads, bow your heads...O God, ease our suffering in this, our moment of great despair. Yea, admit this kind and decent woman into thy arms of thine heavenly area, up there. And Moab, he lay us upon the band of the Canaanites, and yea, though the Hindus speak of karma, I implore you: give her a break." MULTIBALLLLLLLL!!!!

Sort of been done with Vacation America

#19111 2 years ago
Quoted from skink91:

I must be the only person that thought Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace sucked. I do remember how excited I was the first time I played it and saw it and the display, but also how ultimately disappointed I was in the reality of the gameplay and how limiting it felt in comparison to other arcade games at the time.

Loved the animation, hated the gameplay (what there was of it).

I'd be down for a National Lampoon's Christmas vacation pin. My family would disown me if I didn't buy it.

Yes, you are wrong and here is why. The rumor for BTTF is that it's a Kapow game. The Kapow games deal with the difficult licenses. Look at the depth of the Batman 66 content. They basically had everything. Then came the Beatles; why do you think it was so expensive for a single level game? It's because they paid out the ass for the license. Same with BTTF. Joe K from Kapow loves the license since the first BTTF pin and wants a chance to do it again and do it right this time.

This is coming from someone who doesn't even like the movie and is hard pass on the pin, so I'm not talking wishful thinking. If this game does come out as a Kapow/Stern, it will be an expensive game with no pro.

screminr also missed my favorite Schwarzenegger film: True Lies. I re-watched it on cable last night for the first time in years. Great action scenes from start to finish, some good comedy moments, a hot Jamie Lee Curtis, and a hot villainess in Tia Carrere.

This for a multiball mode! Unfortunately not politically correct. Surprised this movie hasn’t been canceled yet lol

Good call , forgot about True Lies . Kindergarten Cop , twins and junior were deliberately left of the list

If we get a Conan the Barbarian pin, I want it from the comics. Hand drawn art work and not clip art from the movies.

When Stern remakes a vault edition do they ever update them? I.E. The Walking Dead and potentially replacing the DMD for the updated LCD?

As for totally new, has anyone considered World of Warcraft? Huge IP. It’d make for a beautiful art package.

Schwartzennegger needs his own tribute pin, he's too big to just have a single pinball game based on a single movie. One epic pin dedicated to all his best movies, packed full of his best lines.

Yes and no. They did give us comic art Spider-man vault, and had to change out of the Sony licensed J Jonah Jameson voice over. But they don’t create entirely new content. Changing from a DMD to the large monitor would require all new programming of all different assets. Never happened before.

They did it with Batman66. I wouldn't rule anything out.

BM66 is not a vault edition.

#19137 2 years ago

Exactly...it’s a no brainer for Stern to at least attempt this. One vault a year...LOTR, TSPP, GB, TWD etc with a Spike 2 LCD update would sell like mad (of course...acquiring full asset licensing...that’s the tricky part)

#19138 2 years ago
Quoted from gambit3113:

I guess it's about how you classify games as vaults. Stern may never have called it a vault, but its a recycled design of BM Dark Knight.

You wouldn't call Beatles a Seawitch vault. BM66 may be inspired by Dark Knight but its a completely unique package overall.

#19140 2 years ago

I dont see Stern doing vault editions again, or at least for the foreseable future. The lines are full and pumping out pins.

I classify a vault as a “vault edition.” Not only was BM66 not a vault edition, it was a high end, ultra premium edition that required collaboration with a licensing specialist, offered no pro version, and was marketed as its own specialty game, the likes of which had not ever been pulled off by Stern. So....

i fully agree- Batman is a stellar game and its in a class by itself as one of sterns biggest accomplishments (i own one). However- the OP asked if Stern has have taken a game and did a "vault" update with DMD to LCD. I feel BM66 fits this bill. Maybe the correct term is a re-imagination or re-theme? personally i'd love to see some more of these types of games. I'd be all in if they did OG Tron, or maybe a book version of LOTR or Star Trek66 with the same treatment as BM66 got.

#19143 2 years ago
Quoted from Chuckwebster:

The thing is, the layout, rules and overall gameplay are vastly different. On Spiderman they changed the art, callouts and animations but they retained the core gameplay and geometry. Iron Man was almost a 1 re-release with LEDs and updated magnets. Technically they did a Star Trek "Vault Edition" though in that case, it seems like it was really just a re-run of the game, not sure why they called it "vault."

Personally , Conan is one of my favourite movies and I would love to see Arnie in his Prime , kicking ass and chopping heads off giant snakes .
One big complaint with AIQ is the lack of atmosphere due to the comic book format .
