Quoted from SLAMT1LT:

BTTF is a little too late now. I designed my own BTTF game about a decade ago, and 2015 was the year it should've happened for real. 80s themes are now moving out of fashion, as the 90s start to take centre stage. Bill and Ted is a better option...and The Matrix is long overdue (new movie in the works).
I still have my creative sights set firmly in the 70s and 80s...but for real companies, making real money, you have to move with the times. There's new money in the game.

It certainly not too late for a BTTF remake and for the franchise to finally get the upgraded pin it deserves.

Quoted from PinMonk:

JJP has/had The Muppets. It was in the original leaked roadmap years ago, but I haven't heard anything about it for a long time, so maybe they wised up and dropped it.

Never heard such a shitty theme for a pin.
Maybe an explanation of what you say.

#15654 3 years ago

I would like to see pins based on game themes like:

- Overwatch
- League of Legends
- Rocket League
- Mario Kart
- WoW
- CoD
- Little Big Planet
- Destiny

Music/band themes
- Muse
- Dream Theater
- Duran Duran
- Slayer
- Rush
- VanHalen
- Def Leppard

Film/series
- Mad max
- Pulp Fiction
- Reservoir Dogs
- Up
- Game of Thrones
- Cars

Explain The Muppets? Or explain the leaked roadmap that lets us know it was on the list of pins JJP planned to do before Dialed In even launched?

#15656 3 years ago

JJP was wise to drop Muppets. That would be in the Top 10,000 themes for me. I can think of stuff I hate that I would enjoy better as a pin like Green Beans

#15657 3 years ago

I thought Green Beans was an ok pin when Data East released it. Maybe a little shallow. But I would like to see a Muppets pin someday before they remake Green Beans.

They can try...and enjoy the industrial accident!

Oh, I have no idea why it was dropped or even IF it was dropped (though there were rumors). The only reason we know it was planned is that list was leaked that had it and Dialed In, PotC, and Toy Story on it. I really think JJP has changed enough that they're not going to do it. Toy Story will fill that segment for them and I would think that Muppets was dropped, but no one outside JJP and Disney would know for sure.

Let’s all be honest here - BTTF is actually not that good. It just hits the nostalgia sweet spot for 70% of pinball collectors.

The original Back to the Future? Is actually really good. It is a masterpiece in screen writing.
From front to back, that movie has no flaws in its script, and it’s characters are perfectly blended together.
Maybe there are arguments for 2 and 3, but the original is a pretty epic film.

#15664 3 years ago

Since we’re making our wishlists, I want a Rocky pin encompassing footage and rivals from all the movies. They could make it like a Champion Pub sort of thing where Rocky takes on different challengers and does his training (punching a slab of beef, etc.). It’d be awesome!

I remember as a kid standing there in Coney Island at the corners of Surf Ave & Stillwell Ave at 6:30am watching them film the final show down scene with the Riff's along with many others from the movie. What a classic and great freaking movie.

Awesome!! I've always wanted to go there. Just seemed so gritty and so real back in the day from the film depiction. It's been awhile gonna watch this tonight. Will be the first time watching since I got into collecting. I can see myself picking out scenes that'll fit good. Epic call outs everywhere.

At the top of my wish list as well.
Throw in some great vs modes accompanied by the sweet soundtrack with running commentary and introductions by the radio DJ’s lips

I think that every time someone mentions Big Trouble in Little China. I mean, what the actual f*#k? It’s only two or three people, and it’s only about two or three times a year, but the notion is truly absurd.

One of the most famous and beloved movies of all time? That’s a pretty bad argument.

#15683 3 years ago

Joe Kaminkow seems to take on projects he has personal interest in. He's got a Batmobile, and the rumor is he was Marty on the original BTTF backglass with Gary (Gary is in his inner circle of friends) contrary to the belief that Marty was the son of [I forget the designer]. I don't have anecdotal evidence for why he did Beatles, other than it's a weird choice for a license and maybe supports the idea that he and Gary will do something just because they want to, not for business reasons. For me, it's enough evidence to be sure that BTTF is coming eventually and it's a Kapow game. I can't wait.

Someone said The Muppets was a terrible pinball theme. I tend to agree but my point was/is, The Wizard of Oz really isn't a great pinball theme either. You can have a beloved movie or theme (Muppets may be one for many people) but that doesn't mean it makes for a great pinball theme.

I owned an WOZ and that was my experience. I could never really get into the theme or music. I realize some like it which is fine. The Muppets may be similar depending on whether they made a good game or not.

Lionman?

It just proved how many narrow minds on Pinside needed to expand their horizons. Thousands of WOZ sales later (and Wonka’s for that matter) and it’s safe to say that pinball appeals to a wide variety of tastes.

I think Godzilla is a godawful theme, but I know it appeals to some people. Sales will dictate whether a theme is good or not. Lots of good games sell crappy because of the theme. WOZ has proven to be a great theme. Jack bet on it and won big.

Comparing the Muppets to the Wizard of Oz is like comparing Barney to Gone with the Wind.

Godzilla is far from a godawful theme. More popular than WOZ. Feel sad for you that you don’t like a movie we’re giant monsters fight and knock the crap out of each other. Guess my childhood growing up in the 70’s and 80’s are hard to beat.
