We have both and TWDLE is better in my opinion. Both are Lyman brilliance!
Quoted from Jaybird815:TWD > 99% of pins ever made, and I’ve never seen an episode.
It is. I've owned it twice. It's ugly as hell though. I agree there.
Streaming 3/15..... licensed music in this show so they are allowing new shows to use the rights. clue?
Quoted from Jaybird815:TWD > 99% of pins ever made, and I’ve never seen an episode.
I just started watching it with my kids and we’re locked in 1-2 episodes bout 4-5 nights a week .Now they want the pin of course as I’ve played it a bunch at a pincade last summer and they wanted nothing to do with playing it
I think the TWD is a great looking pin I really don't get all the hate it gets for how it looks. It's downright beautiful compared to some of the disasters Stern has done. On the other side I just don't get the love fest it gets for it's rules and code. I dunno what I'm missing as I played it a lot but it always felt very linear and repetitive.

Pretty easy to understand, tough to master, kind of like Iron Man. At least that's how I view it. It probably doesn't hurt that it had such a bad reception upon release only to be revived by later updates.

I own it and it is ugly as intended. I was not sure about owning it due to the ugliness but it is a great playing pin that gets the blood flowing. It is bolted to the floor - but damn it is noticeably ugly next to Tron, Metallica, Ironman, Spider-Man and IJ. ... next to most pins. Good thing it is such a great game.

I always thought the ugliness fits the theme well. Can’t imaging an elaborate Yeti or Donny style on TWD. Having said that a black and white comic vault would have me selling my premium to upgrade.

No question that a ZY or DD style would not have been a good fit. It did need to be ugly but not sure I wanted something that ugly at home. As ugly as it is - it will never leave because it is a rush to play.

TWD is one case where I was more than happy not have been able to buy the LE. The cabinet, legs and rail colour scheme is such a turn off. The Premium cabinet is pleasant by comparison .
Quoted from Goronic:Can we puhlease get on with the TRON VE announcement already!?
Going to be a long wait... the VE has been imminent for going on 6-7 years now.
Try not to be too ripped when you post waayy too stonneed.....................................................................................

Whichever one is on the line.

EXCEPT for the enormous AMC all over the cabinet and head on the Premium. Drives me nuts. If I ever got another I think I'd want the LE. Not a fan of the crossbow breaks, but I really like the crate look and the cooler backglass.
Quoted from Sly_Old_Devil:Has anyone asked Gary Stern what his favorite puzzle is yet?
John Trudeau.
Quoted from mrclean:Spring - Godzilla
Summer - JAWS
Fall / Winter - Tron 82' / Back To The Future
Hope Elwin is working on one with movie assets

Thatll wear off after a couple seasons. It a real "jump the shark" show. A couple good seasons followed by unwatchably bad ones.
Quoted from Darscot:I think the TWD is a great looking pin I really don't get all the hate it gets for how it looks. It's downright beautiful compared to some of the disasters Stern has done.
I had a non pinball friend refer to TWD playfield as "covered in shit and blood"
Id rather have an early 2000s washed out photoshop playfield in my home than 'shit and blood" one lol.
Quoted from Jaybird815:I’d much rather have an ugly game that is a great player, than a pretty game that plays like shit.
Maybe I'm the only one but I think the playfield art on Walking Dead is perfect, it suits the game and the theme well. Plus, I'm super glad it doesn't revolve around the TV show characters especially because the code doesn't involve them at all.
But yes, ugly game + great gameplay is always going to win for me as well.

Really? I find watching Carol pick Blueberries for an hour riveting television!

Almost as interesting as the wood and coal on Oak Island

Hmm.... Oak Island pin - you start out with a ton of points that count down as you play and you never find a jackpot.

The goal is to spend as much time and money and score as little points as possible.

That would be a kinda cool mode, your goal is to hit as few shots as possible while keeping the ball(s) alive for some period of time with no-hold flippers so you can't just trap.

I tend to do this on most games

TWD is a great game and would make a superb vault edition. Funny, I sold premium edition to get rid of the characters on cabinet and was happy with LE wooden crate artwork. What TWD could benefit from though is cabinet and translite art redo into comics style. I might not sell the LE to get a new one, but it would be tempting. I know many people who didn’t buy the game because it wasn’t suited for home, but with a relaunch I’ll bet those people could be accommodated. Probably don’t need to redo pf art but it would be welcomed. I’d buy a TWD puzzle or two

This sounds like deeproot, the company lol.

Yes, but sometimes they find rusty nails too! And rocks!
I love how they find stuff like an ox shoe, and exclaim "more proof that there was a massive treasure buried around here!"
Quoted from Jaybird815:I’d much rather have an ugly game that is a great player, than a pretty game that plays like shit.
If its going in my house id like it to be both ideally. Ive been lucky that many of my favorite games to play have also been esthetically pleasing.
Quoted from pinballaddicted:We have both and TWDLE is better in my opinion. Both are Lyman brilliance!
Played walking dead and didn’t care for it and neither did my wife and kids. My buddy picked one up and he said it’s probably going to be leaving his home. EHOH for me blows away TWD. I just found it boring and repetitive.
I can’t imagine a child being into TWD. Game is only fun if you’re good at pinball. It’s definitely an advanced player pin IMO.

That is why TWD is so good. You do not really
appreciate it until you have played the game a ton of times. We had ours for a year before we really started playing it. Each to their own and that is why there are so many different games. There is something for everyone
Any ideas when the next Stern will be released?

TWD takes time to get a good game going and open up the game every time you play. The beginning part is a bit repetitive, but relatively short. Once you start getting modes going (Siege, Riot, Tunnel, etc) and managing that drop target bank on the left the game is a blast. Most people new to it just keep bashing the barn and the well walker and that isn't going to do much to advance the game. I played it a LOT and never got to Last Man Standing, let alone beat it. One of a very short list of pins I'd have again.
Quoted from Phbooms:anybody else hear mentions of Highway to the Danger Zone?
Let's hope not. F-14 is enough if you have an itch to scratch.
Quoted from PinMonk:Let's hope not. F-14 is enough if you have an itch to scratch.
I hope not to but have heard hints. Not really into Godzilla either but never know could be good. Would love a James Bond theme, hopefully by end 2021.

Same for me. Bond is much more my kind of theme, crossing my fingers and hoping for it this year (all Bonds not just Craig in No Time To Die)
Still excited to see a Toho Godzilla, as I think it has potential to be a fun pin.

I don’t understand why TWD gets soooo much love. It was the shortest kept game I’ve ever owned. Thought it was a turd. But hey I don’t like AF either and love my stranger things. To each their own I guess

I would be okay with an all Craig theme from Casino Royale to current, though. Agree, though, one based just on the new movie would probably be a mistake.
