Honestly, I just about shat myself laughing when I posted that Myron Floren picture and comment this morning - thought I was so damn clever that I even posted it on Facebook.
It got about the same reception there. Crickets. LOL! Oh well.
Quoted from John1210:John_l SR isnt working on Led Zep. Think similar era just a different mega group.
Weird all I’ve heard is Led Zep over and over. After that the rumours I’ve heard are all over the place, leaks are definitely drying up compared to a year or so ago.
How about some actual themes with some action in them that would go well with pinball?
John Wick
Predator
Die Hard
Bond
Mission Impossible
Mad Max Fury Road
Wouldn’t mind another comic movie based pin as the kids love them!
Actually after looking through the last couple years of stern pins I don’t really care what the theme is stern is on a roll !! I like surprises n the fewer leaks the better .Realisticly with the shutdown it can be anything I’m sure a Boss co like stern always has a few ready to roll depending on what they’re data tells them .
Quoted from Pixel8Arcade:If they did BTTF might I recommend that some of the playfield can change or rotate to transform to match the year.
Lemme explain. You start the game in 1985 and through a serious of shots you can hit 88mph and go to 1955, 1885, 2015 or even alternate 1985! depending on which shots or mode you go into.
So let’s say you have the big center toy as the clock tower from 1985. When you go into 1885 the clock tower rotates and you now see the under construction wood clock tower. In 1955 it would rotate and have Doc and a cable hanging off it. In 2015 it is futuristic and in alternate 1985 Biff’s Casino Hotel rises up behind the clock tower.
You could do the same with a vehicle on the playfield and have it rotate to show...
1885 - the train used to push the Delorean
1955 - Biff’s red classic car
1985 - Iranian’s bus
2015 - Hover Delorean
Alternate 1985 - ????
Drop targets and other elements could transform to match the time period too.
If they are gonna do it they might as well squeeze in all 3 movies and swing for the fences.
Agree, add the projector from stranger things prem for some movie clips to it.
Quoted from HarrieD:Agree, add the projector from stranger things prem for some movie clips to it.
You could do some pretty cool tricks with the screen and ball integration, where you shoot the ball to the screen and it changes to a video mode with a virtual ball Devil's Crush style, then when the ball drops out of that, it changes back to the physical ball again and appears below the screen again.
Quoted from PinMonk:You could do some pretty cool tricks with the screen and ball integration, where you shoot the ball to the screen and it changes to a video mode with a virtual ball Devil's Crush style, then when the ball drops out of that, it changes back to the physical ball again and appears below the screen again.
Let’s just keep it simple yet effective, project fire trails on the playfield, job done!
Quoted from Chetrico:The Warriors and a Scooby need to get made before I'm too old to see the balls.

ya a scooby doo mysteries table would totally work.. have the main modes tie into solving different mysteries etc lots of potential on LCD screen to incorporate clips from best of episodes. A Coney Island at night theme could work, I feel like half the old scooby episodes were at somewhere like that or a mansion out in a swamp somewhere LOL

Scooby-Doo would be awesome. This has come up several times on other feeds. Last I heard, The Pinball Company acquired and still holds the rights to make a Scooby-Doo pin. If you recall, they contracted Spooky to make The Jetsons game. If they do a Scooby I just hope they do a better job than they did with Jetsons. There is so much potential with Scooby. If Spooky were given free rein, I believe they could make an awesome game. Here's hoping!!!
Quoted from Charlemagne1987:...If you recall, they contracted Spooky to make The Jetsons game. ....
Sadly we remember that one.

Scooby has balls?
Quoted from yancy:Scooby has balls?
Should - but....he is a cartoon. So...there's that.
Quoted from yancy:Scooby has balls?
I would imagine that he does...I just don't know why we would want to see them on a pinball machine.
There is some interesting and wild Scooby fan art out there.
Scooby Doo is a super fun theme for pinball.
I think modern updated art with fun, sexy twist and some darkness / scary backdrops would be very cool. Have to have some great humour of course.
What would vote be classic vs modern ?

The Pinball Company doing Scooby Doo would be terrible. I want a full-featured, not a sub-Pro version.

Zoinks!
My vote is for The Matrix and/or John Wick. Both of these movies are coming out early next year. Especially The Matrix, I think would be a missed opportunity.

I’m definitely in for classic Scooby (and no Scrappy-Doo). And, yes, it would have to be WAY better than The Jetsons. That was a waste of a good theme.
Scooby Doobie Doo has potential. You go on mysteries, all kinds of monsters and different settings and chase scenes set to groovy 60's music. Dafney. Velma. A van. It has flowers on it.
Quoted from RayGun:Scooby Doobie Doo has potential. Go on mysteries. LCD shows diff monsters, settings and chase scenes set to groovy 60's music. Daffney. Velma. A van. It has flowers on it.
Somehow just had a vision of a Turtles/ Scooby-doo
Pinball they way Stern did FG and Shrek....
Same van paint flowers on it good to go

I had a similar thought but Stranger Things for Jaws, the drop down ramp is Amity Island billboard dropping to reveal a sharks head with mouth open....

definately classic. modern looks neat but it doesn't have mass appeal
Quoted from JonCrox:I had a similar thought but Stranger Things for Jaws, the drop down ramp is Amity Island billboard dropping to reveal a sharks head with mouth open....
Keep in mind I want JAWS bad... However, Jaws doesn't come down from a billboard.... Oh wait but in Jaws 19 in 2015 he kinda does......
I'd take a JAWS or BTTF Remake next

Seems like BTTF, jaws and tron vault have all been circulating as rumors of stern's next game for a long time. But they've never actually happened. I feel like they won't make them if they haven't already. I'm sure there's a reason they haven't. I wish they would make these, they all sound awesome, but something tells me it's not going to happen.
Quoted from TheLaw:Yeah Jaws has been the next Stern for a good 7 years.
...and when they finally make it, get ready for "see I told you so!"
Quoted from yancy:...and when they finally make it, get ready for "see I told you so!"
I used to say there was 0% chance of that happening, and then IMDN came out!
My worry with these "big" themes that are lead pipe locks is them raising them to the prem+ only level. I got some cash, I would probably buy a Stern pro BTTF on release depending on whom's involved. JJP much less of a chance...although with PL I'd consider.
Quoted from TheLaw:Yeah Jaws has been the next Stern for a good 7 years.
And TRON the next vault...
Quoted from Goronic:And TRON the next vault...
I've been predicting a Tron VE or Tron Remake with 82' Tron artwork. Next year Disney World celebrates it's 50th in 2021 and the new Tron roller coaster will be coming to Disney World.
So if a Tron VE or Tron remake comes out 2021.
In 2022 it would be the 40th anniversary of the film.
Quoted from MrCleanHead:My vote is for The Matrix and/or John Wick. Both of these movies are coming out early next year. Especially The Matrix, I think would be a missed opportunity.
Just when I thought jjp's Johnny Depp mug was the worst...
People keep talking about Jaws, and I love Jaws, but I just don't see how you could make it into an entertaining pinball machine. Make shots to dodge Jaws at the beach. Make shots to find Brody. Make shots to get Brody to find Quint. Make shots to repeatedly avoid Hooper because Richard Dreyfuss is a dolt and the only stain on the movie. Make shots to get on boat. Make shots to listen to more of Quints stories. Make shots to chum the water. Seriously. Has anyone who drools over a Jaws pin actually thought it through? It would have to be the most linear pinball game ever made to even work, or it would have about as much in common with the movie as the original Jaws video game did.

Yeah, I’m with you on that one.
When the film was released it was great.
Growing up, it was great. Jaws II etc...... a bit crap.
Now when I watch the movie, it’s still a good film but the shark looks a bit rubber, doesn’t swim very good and the story a bit lame the way the shark is chasing the boat, eating through the boat etc......
I think back in the early 70s we kinda thought that was maybe possible....
Even eats a Helicopter in Jaws 2 FFS.......
Now as far as being good for a pin?
Well maybe it’s a bit like Jurassic Park and Turtles, if it’s got big teeth or scales then it will work for a pin in the minds of those back in the Stern camp......

People kept talking about The Walking Dead, and I love TWD, just can’t see how you can make that into a pin. Make shots to find Lori. Make shots to find Carl. Make shots to battle Negan ( cuz he’s a stain in the series). In between shoot the dead. Most linear pinball ever to work.
Not done til it’s done Amigo.
Quoted from Charlemagne1987:(and no Scrappy-Doo)
I'm a Scooby Doo fan and in general, a dog lover ......
But Scrappy Doo..................... I hate that mutt!
It spoiled it for me...... so would be guaranteed to be plastered all over an LE

The difference being that TWD had a lot of plot points to draw from, and zombie lore in general to work from. TV shows are always a safe bet because of how much happens in the show (whether that be plot, locations, events, etc). You don't need to have specific characters with tv-to-pin adaptation, just plot points, locations, etc. Jaws just doesn't have enough plot points, locations or events to make compelling modes in my opinion.
I love Jaws, but in my mind when the Jaws pin comes out (not if, when), it's going to be pretty, have a fun toy and have completely dull rules. If it happens to have a great shot map, that will salvage it to a degree.
Anyways, just my opinion

Quite possibly. But with today’s new tech with PB browser and Clelands sound upgrades, well, dull can become amazing.
I used TWD for reference cuz of the Billy Bob callouts Stern cheaped out on with software.
I admire your attitude Brotato chip. It’s catchy.

People said Iron Maiden would never work I said it would about 7 or 8 years ago on pinside. Now it’s voted Sterns number #1 baby. Hey Gary Stern you owe me at least a shirt, actually someone on here does if game was made need to find it again on past thread. Here it is https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/new-iron-maiden-album-in-2014-will-a-pin-follow-3/page/2
