*The Next Stern Pin*

How lame is it that you had to pick on the fun increasing magnets of TAF just to have a opportunity to let everyone know you play tournaments. The magnets on TAF are meant to disrupt normal play. That’s the whole point. Those magnets are great.

But it was clearly a joke, because I can't imagine Trudeau making another Stern or any other manufacturer pin, period, after all this (although deeproot would be darkly ironic). He's out of jail in only 7 more days, finishing one of the lightest child porn/pedo sentences (there were two cases) I've ever heard of, but he's effectively involuntarily retired.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I do not find getting power drained at random due to nothing I did to be fun... If I brick a shot, ya, I deserve a drain. But the magnets arent that kind of punishment. it's not that different from say a Medieval Madness scoop that feeds sdtm 50% of the time... that's disruptive, sure, but not particularly fun, to me. Star Trek Classic. Retheme Star Trek like they did Batman, add a screen and some video from original series.

I’d be all over an original ST. I would imagine getting approvals from all of those actors would be tough... especially Shatner.

Maybe, but a lot of them have passed now, and Shatner has done voice and even video for plenty of Star Trek Video games over the years, so it's not impossible by any stretch. But I"m not sure what the rights issues are for Star Trek character likenesses anyway. With Star Wars, Lucasfilm owns the likeness, not sure about Star Trek.

Speaking of possible new Sterns, do we have any idea of when the next tables will be announced, or any hint of what the themes will actually be?

I definitely want more magnets. Not in every game but when it makes sense. SW should have used them, and stranger things definitely should use them as well. Tournament players have hundreds of other games to choose from if they don't like magnets and more randomness.

The sandlot code would prolly take forever to reach 1.0 tho

I think themes like this lead to far more creativity inside the game...

Cheech & Chong really would sell... I chant that monthly. Politics of weed are flipped upside down now & it's a theme for hipster dbags, gen x dorks & the "back in my day" boomers.

Batman '66 got out right around Christmas 2016. Then it was another 18 months before there was a game in it, but that's another story.

Guardians of the Galaxy was Nov/Dec 2017. Also shipped with Stern Box o' Lights(tm) code that didn't do much and get even decent until almost April of the next year.

Last year Beatles was the "holiday" pin. It seemed to get announced ahead of when it was supposed to, and probably was planned for Nov 2018 announce (rather than the end of October when the video hit).

So I think it's not unreasonable to expect a pin announcement this month with LEs at least starting shipping before the end of the year. Hopefully if it's the Brian Eddy pin, it's been cooking at Stern long enough that it has a shot at not being a box o' lights at launch.

Somebody suggested Get Smart in another thread. That would be a theme I'd like. Cheech and Chong would be good too.

I think the general rumble is we will see some Turtles next. Of the current rumored future titles Godzilla has the most appeal to me personally.

I’ve played maybe 10 games on a JP Pro. As good as that game is, it’s worth a wait to see what Brian Eddy( please not TMNT) has cooked up as well as CGC’s 4th game before buying.

Mnpinball said no and while I hope he is wronmg, I don't care what the general rumble is.
(Would love a TMNT machine but mostly if it is the NEXT game, supposedly Brian Eddy... If it will be a later game and a Borg one, not so much.)

Next machine will be the long rumored Led Zeppelin machine.

I believe Brian was hired two years ago and would have to assume he has been developing something all that time. Seems odd that he would be put on a title like TMNT.It doesn’t take two years to bring a game like that to market. I thought he would do a unique homegrown title.

I don’t even recall seeing him in any of the recent Stern / Dead Flip game unveilings? He’s locked up developing a new unique title or the LOTR vault. He might literally be imprisoned in the vault!

As long as we are talking about future Stern offerings, if they were smart they would get KME working on a pinball equivalent of the arcade classic ‘720’ (“Skate or Die!”)

Since Stern knows the art of subtile/ classy trolling, I'd not rule out the possibility that they reveal their next game immediately after Deeproots Raza reveal (November 16th?).

Pretty certain there is no Jaws in the pipeline.

I thought someone said in the past on a post that the new Stern factory assembly lines are not made for a widebody game. I would very much like to see what they could do now and if pack more in a game someday. I like JJP can do Assembly on both widebody & standard games. Anybody ever ask Gary why no widebody from Stern, just curious as would think he would answer this question since not about titles, etc.

Rumor (that I am starting) is teaser the 19th followed by ign article the 22nd.

No, I just looked it up on the prison website. It lists sentencing, transfers (he's been transferred once), and release date, which according to it right now, is in 5 days. He got a MASSIVELY light sentence in a plea deal for the two cases worth of pedo crimes he was charged with.

I can’t understand why anyone would even be looking forward to the next Stern. Not enough features and quality there for me anymore. Sterns great themes have become more like lipstick on a pig for me personally. If Stern ever brings their game back up to say LOTR features/quality I would be interested again. But until that day comes I am looking forward to what the other manufacturers are doing.

I think Beatles is a fantastic game. I love it.

But it is 100% NOT worth the price it sells for. It should be $5499, and then its a good price for a really fun game.

Well, there are not really a lot of features in that game either. The code is what really makes that game great.

Great Stern is making titles left and right, but without QC and any real imagination, I’m not buying anything Stern.

Seems likes a perfectly fine thread to express my disappointment in Stern. When Stern was the only one making pins Gary had the bright idea he would just cost cut and at the same time raise prices to improve profits. Not a very nice thing to do to your loyal customers IMO. So now there is other companies to compete for sales and Stern is just continuing on with the same strategy? That’s arrogant man. And why would I want the company currently making the lowest quality pins to make my dream themes. Anyone but them right now.
