Quoted from Whistles:

and many manufacturers today don't use chrome at all.

Chrome is ok but I still prefer the smooth feeling of stainless. It is like magic on my palms and a feeling that is hard to describe. Chrome shows every scratch and scratches easily. My Rolling Stones LE is chrome and is cool but if I had a choice-stainless steel baby! I want to thank my STTNG for helping me see the light

I feel like it would be reasonable for the no LE remakes thing to have a shelf life. If a game is old enough to be remastered I don’t think it’s that unreasonable for there to be an LE - similar to CGC remakes. It’s probably 5-10 years too soon to do that with Metallica though without upsetting a decent amount of people. Lord of the rings would be a better test of the remastered LE concept.

#52104 24 days ago
Quoted from pinmister:

This has been my assumption all along. While the layout is epic-it has been done twice now. I own Metallica and GOTG and don't need another 'edition'. Give me something new and it will raise an eyebrow. I will say that I am going backwards with the direction of new 'flair additions'. I think it was the color changing speakers that broke the camels back for me. I am going back to the basics and don't care what kind of lipstick manufacturers slap on their machines now. First I was over FOMO-and now I am over the over the top fluff(flair)-all about gameplay for me now.
New Metallica premo sounds awfully tasty to me
[quoted image]

Yea, no way is was on another Metallica if it had the same playfield, but new pf, and some foil lipstick, I'm in for sure.

Quoted from crujones4life:

Stern said they would never make more LE for a game that had LE in the past.

Did they say this after JP?

#52106 24 days ago
Quoted from evileye:

Did they say this after JP?

It was the 4th EHOH LE that pushed ppl over the edge and forced Sterns hand.

#52107 24 days ago

Doesn’t apply to ported games

If prev LE was SAM,
A spike LE with vault is likely.

Ok some of these are traps- like I wanted to instantly skip over "Risk" as a pinball theme...but then I thought....hey maybe?

Love Risk. Could be good, but seriously doubt it would get enough support.

#52120 24 days ago

Nice to see them asking for feedback - I begged them for Floyd

#52121 24 days ago

I sandbagged the survey by only voting for cheers.

Cheers has something for everyone. AND with insider connected, the pinball machine knows my name. - Gary

#52122 24 days ago

Fast n Furious, Van Halen, Ozzy, Beetle Juice, BTTF, but I would play every game on that list because hey I can

#52123 24 days ago

Interesting survey for sure.
So many choices - 200, many of these titles already made.

It is a wise move by Stern Pinball to do this as it seems sales are struggling with many recent releases.
Fairly obvious why this is so, like who asked for Venom, Foo Fighters or Uncanny X men ?
Not too many from what I have seen.

Heaps of Disney kids themes. I have no issue with this and think the Disney kids movies are wonderful, They should make for great games in future generations. However the generation is now.

Stern Pinball schedule must be locked in for at least 2 years, so some planning outside this is great. I am surprised they did not include age groups, would have thought this would be a key ingredient to the future planning.

No Fifth Element on list, so I guess Barrels do have it, going to be hard to resist that one.

No Big Trouble
No Escape from New York
Looks like no John Carpenter deals with Stern

I have to Vote 1 for Chaka choosing the best music themes.
A lot of people complain about music themes, but they really work in pinball.

Well done Stern Pinball for trying to figure out what we really want.

Blade Runner original with HD upgrade only just won over Mad Max for me.
Probably because of Vangelis.
Key ingredients
* Story line
* Characters
* Action, Intensity
* Music

Enjoy voting everyone.

There are only 2 in the list I wouldn’t play. Taylor Swift & Green Day. I might smash the glass if I see them

#52125 24 days ago

Just not enough themes to justify the price. Simple as that.

Bad ones, good ones and great ones. Subjective

1k LEs and people dumping 50 play post NIBS on the secondary? Really doesn’t matter does it?

#52126 24 days ago

“Looks like no John Carpenter deals with Stern …”

Perhaps Spooky may have locked up Carpenter’s licenses?

#52127 24 days ago

Is the survey only stern army guys with a membership or something ? I looked on their site and didn’t see it . You’d think they would want as much input as possible

Yep, looks that way
I'm guessing Spooky might do The Thing next ?
I would prefer
Escape from New York
or
Big Trouble in little China

Christine would be awesome as well.

Oh so another marketing ploy

Let's make people feel special and let them think their vote will be looked at. Same with the survey they did months ago about pricing and trends. Does Stern really want to know what people think or are they doing it to make people feel like they belong to the 'Stern Army Insider Connect Club'. I seriously doubt any of this info is being utilized and probably just another marketing ploy from Jared.

Wouldn't you think it would be helpful market research to find out what a group of their most dedicated fans actually want to buy in regards to themes? Better than one person sailing the ship and we get themes like Godfather and Toy Story 4.

Stern can now go to their licensing expo each year and then look at the data when they're shopping for that next theme.

"Well, it wasn't on our radar but Nirvana did rate highly in our survey. Maybe we should negotiate for the license?"

I’d be interested in “IT” (recent version) or “The Shining”, but I’d trust Spooky to pull that off over Stern.

If Stern can't put a gun on John Wick I highly doubt they will be dipping their toes in the horror theme world. It would have to be PG 13 Horror and I actually have a great movie that fits the bill...

I chose Halo as my primary survey request...and zelda as secondary. My last thoughts on the survey were ->

Generally I would think you would pick a theme that has had a long history of being popular to appeal to both older and younger generations. That rules a lot of bands/movies out. You need to try and get a younger generation into pinball!
Anyway, then you need a theme that is instantly recognizable, with recognizable music and sounds. With colorful worlds.
Thats why I think Halo and Zelda are two great options.
Of course, most important is gameplay/playfield layout.....which I prefer Jack Danger primary and Elwin as secondary preferences!

“Wolf man’s go nards” Goonies is my number one dream theme, but I’d 100% settle for Monster Squad from Spooky

I think a 40th anniversary Ride the Lightning with foil graphics would be cool. Good way to cash grab.
I'm hearing the premium looks killer over the LE. But I think it's a no pro this round. Will see how it turns out next week.

If they did a dual theme with Goonies and Monster Squad-I would choose Monster Squad(you could get all the classic Universal characters for pennies on the dollar!)

Surprised they have some recently released games on the survey, Pulp Fiction, etc. A Stern PF would be great.

Zelda would be sick as hell. Halo is rumored Mark Ritchie's next game.

If stern can break into Nintendo... Pokemon, Mario, Zelda. That would be wild. Doney Kong, Kirby, Smash Bros....
