I really need some help trying to figure out a toy memory from my childhood in the 80s and early 90s that I haven’t been able to place yet.

I recall either in a comic book or magazine an ad for an action figure that you could custom order. I remember them being military themed. You could specify the figure’s specialty, weapons, etc. I think it was basically an order form that you would fill out and they would send you the figure based on the options selected. I never actually ordered one but remember sitting there for what seemed like hours thinking how I would make it.

Does anyone else remember this? Would love to see a picture of the order form and the name of the company so I could track one down.

Quoted from mooch:

Was it an ad for the G.I. Joe Steel Brigade figures?

That’s got to be it! WOW! Thank you!!

Looks like the figurines are all the same but just the data sheet comes customized?

Man this was a great memory!

When kids still played outside....

Does he make it or does the last kid get it good?

Quoted from mooch:

My Mom had these low-budget pilgrim and turkey candles that she set around on side tables in the living room for Thanksgiving. They never got lit though. Are you supposed to sit and watch the pilgrim’s head melt off? They basically gathered dust for a month then got put away for another year.

Hilarious. The things we do.

Quoted from pinmister:

I love the red plastic cups from back in the day so much I bought a bunch for my home. Nothing like drinking a classic Coca Cola in these red plastic glasses(must have ice cubes )

I agree! Where did you find them?

Quoted from onemoresean:

I like these vintage coolers.
I can keep my drinks cold, carry my tools, and have a place to sit too.
[quoted image]

This brought back memories of our cooler which was always nearby for some relief from those hot, sweaty summers growing up. The white spout was permanently stained red from that ONE ill-advised time we put Kool-Aid in it. Man those days were a “barrel of fun”.

I’ve been meaning to post a photo of our vintage 6.5ft ‘pom-pom’ aluminum tree that is proudly displayed in the front window every year. I bought this a few years ago from the original owner.

Merry Christmas!
