Quoted from Beemus:

Had boards setup in Huntington Park. Played for hours. And who didn't play with matches?!?

Used to buy these by the gross...!

Quoted from pinwiztom:

While we all tended to play outside more than today's kids,
on those rainy days I did play board games.
Was really into military/war/strategy games.
Most of you probably remember Stratego and Battleship and Risk,
but does anyone remember Combat! (I was obsessed with that show when I was a kid)
This game was not half bad for a game based on a TV show.

Or what about Conflict (loved the game pieces on that one.)

I LOVED Combat.....best theme song ever( besides Jonny Quest, of course) ... we played army outside constantly, and I was always Sgt. Saunders. We used tree branches for guns and if you found the perfect one shaped time a Tommy gun, it was coveted. And, according to neighborhood rules, if shot and killed, you laid there motionless for an hour before joining back in the fight.
Rat Patrol and 12 O' clock High were classics as well.

Loved Battling Tops! I was always Hurricane Hank.
