After the latest run of deserts posted here, is anybody else going to hunt down a treat from the past for themselves?
Right now I have Orange Creamsicle at the top of my list. Its been decades snice I had one.
Damn you Mooch.

I’m always on the lookout for an old school Slush Puppie machine. They are now few and far-between. I go nuts when I find one at some highway gas station. These are the ones where you add your own syrup. Far superior to Icees or Slurpees.

A buddy brought me that back from Italy back in the late 70s.

When I was about 13-14 my family visited San Francisco and in a shop in China town I found a keychain with a small working switchblade (2" open) I had to sneak back to the store and buy it without my parent knowledge ... I was a huge hit with the kids on the block when I got it home. Loved to get my hands on throwing stars. Also my dad had brass knuckles but never used them.

All those knives and throwing stars etc. are legal in FL. The one is called an OTF, out the front.

Was the only fabric that was both high in style while also being highly entertaining.

I have a pair of those somewhere. The wood shaft is 6 sided, so it has an edge, not round or smooth. You can cut with them. Really inflict some damage.

Who here hasn’t come across a pile of used traffic cones and couldn’t resist “borrowing” 4 cones just in case they are needed for the next pick up football game. Bonus points for skateboard slalom if you find enough of them.

Did anyone like Jujubes? They were smaller and much harder to chew than Jujyfruits or Dots. Jujubes stuck in my molars like nobody’s business. I think a Jujube would actually make a great emergency temporary dental filling.

Looking at that cool old school ring whistle had me thinking. Why don't they make cool shit like that anymore? Then the laundry list of pc crap came to mind-it is a choking hazard, kids would suck on toxic metal that would turn your finger green after wearing it, and kids could use it as a potential weapon, etc. Too much litigation in our society nowadays, no wonder all the toys from today are mainly crap plastic junk molds. Sometimes walking the toy isle in Target has me shaking my head in disappointment with what my kids have to choose from. Keep up the post-this is becoming my favorite thread as it sparks some major flashbacks.

Remember When....reflection is a great escape!

(Love Dots-but those Jujy-fruits would stick to my teeth too much)

Thrifty ice cream.
After school all the time. So cheap so good.

This Buck knife has been kept in my tackle box since I was nine. I got the boot knife a couple of years later. (The parents didn't know about that one.) I had lots of throwing stars too, but those are all long gone. I chewed up the neighbor's privacy fence with them pretty good. I got in trouble for that.

Out the front. Sounds correct. I guess should have hit the pawn shops and gun stores when I went to Boca Raton to pick up a pin a couple of years ago.

That one takes me back. The jumper looks like he was enjoying himself.

We had spot in an undeveloped part of the neighborhood. There was a long drop, about 10 feet down, from the edge of this dirt wall. A few feet way from that was a long mound of dirt left behind when the construction crew pulled out. It was perfect for jumps. This mound was a about 6 feet high.

Down we would go, then hit bottom and roll back up on the smaller mound and become airborne. Down at the end there was a low rise where we could peddle back up.....and do it again ! Good times.

One time, we were getting ready to go leave and head for home. My friend wanted to go one more time. Pat was a big guy. This time, after we had already made 10-15 jumps, he didn't make it. He broke his leg. Someone had to go find phone and call for help. The firemen came and had to carry him out of a stretcher.

This reminds me of a spot that we used to call The Scoop. There is a woodsy area behind an elementary school with a dry creek bed that winds through it. The banks range from roughly four feet to as much as ten feet high. It was the perfect natural halfpipe! We used to ride our BMX bikes there all the time, doing table tops and other aerials.

I had a whole collection of switchblades, both side opening and out the front. I was not a very well supervised child.

I'm trying to remember the name of the manufacturer, but there was a company you could mail order them from and it was somehow legal for them to ship it to you as a "kit" (basically tighten a few screws and you had a functioning switchblade). This would have been in the late 80s.

Easy Rider was a huge hit but just an OK movie.

Wild Angels. would leave you wondering how the actors managed to find another acting job. But the bikes were over the top.

I found one of them! It was called The Edge Company. This was not high quality stuff, but to a teenage boy all that mattered was SWITCHBLADE.

I always referred to this kind as a stiletto, but not sure where I got that.

That siren whistle ring reminds me of these cool Quaker cereal Crazy Rings from the late 50s. I was born a few years too late for these, but I would’ve mailed away for them in a heartbeat.

No. But between Wild Angels and Easy Rider there were several whacked out motorcycle movies. Dennis Hopper was in one he had to apologize for even being in. And Jack Nicholson was in Hells Angels on Wheels before he struck gold in Easy Rider.
