Quoted from presqueisle:

No ones favorite toy was a pinball machine. Sad!
Hey pinbe I was too slow. That may be the first 'real' pin listed here.

For a long time people simply did not collect pinballs or such. (Especially true for those of us who grew up in the 50s-early 80s)

#302 5 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

Didn't you get the lecture? "That is not a toy!"

or "you'll go blind".

The Mattel Spin Welder!!! Nothing like a 6 year old melting plastic with toxic fumes and burning hot plastic.

#305 5 years ago

My main toys were: GI Joes (tall ones), Hot wheels cars, plastic model airplane kits, 1/72 scale soldiers and my banana seat bicycle.

I don't recall ever meeting someone who actually owned one of these, but that chilling commercial jingle is permanently seared into my brain ...

Quoted from Mr68:

It may have been a subliminal message. When I was 12 my mother was still trying to get an abortion.

Those that have met you understand why.

I'm joking. You seem pretty cool for a guy with a girls name.

At least when he moved out and got on his own. He could stop wearing the frilly dresses his Mother made him wear. He shaved off all the golden locks too. He still wears the f*** me underwear though.

This all would have seriously effected a lot of people. But not Mr68. He's a real trooper !

LTG : )

#313 5 years ago

What's wrong with wearing women's underwear? I love my Victorias Secret undies, they feel great and make me feel sexy.

First there were the barbies.... Now I'm really concerned with where this thread's heading to....

I know it is starting to feel like the other 2000 mod threads on Pinside

EDIT: Oh wait people aren't glueing this shit to the top of their games

hehe.... not glued at all.... the only topper some could find...

#320 5 years ago

What's in jints56's picture? Does that make a sound like a motorcycle or something? That looks familiar but I can't dig it out of my mind. So much I forgot aboot in this thread...the bomb cap thing we used to play with all the time and I haven't thought of that in 3 decades probably.

#321 5 years ago
Quoted from AlexF:

I always wanted this one.

Navarone_(resized).jpg

I still have this!!! Mind you it was usually populated with Star Wars or GI Joe guys.....but what a great toy!

A real pinball machine was out of the question, so I got this for Christmas in '76. That's me playing, with my older brother, dad and grandfather.

Dang that's right, definitely had the Robot Commando. Used to set up armies of the green army men and then launch the rocket from his head into them.

Man those were the days.

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

1981 Yamaha MX 80.
It never ceases to amaze me now as a parent how my parents would just send a 9 year old kid out into the woods on a motorcycle for hours on end but they did and I made it .
1987 CW BMX
1987 Alva Fred Smith
30 years later I am still playing with the same toys really but no where near as aggressively.

Yeah...he did that to duplicate the look on his face when we were kids.
Oh yeah, I also have plenty of the old games....I finally bought all the ones I had when I was a kid.

#332 5 years ago

When I was a kid we were so poor we couldn't afford store bought toys so if we wanted to have fun we had to make something dangerous.........The Polish Cannon:

Of course after a while we would soak the tennis ball in lighter fluid so you could send a flaming projectile onto your neighbors cedar roof.

Oh the fun we had.

She kisses Garloo, because if she doesn't, he rips the head off of her dolls.

Can't leave out the Erector Set. Those cheap nut/bolts were EVERYWHERE in the house. My mom was so pissed every time she picked one up while vacuuming.

All steel... and I TOTALLY remember the red case.

Photon laser tag guns, we ran around the house like crazy playing this. Yes I enjoyed over LAser tag because you could should or hit your opponent through the center of the gun leans. We used to bounce it off the mirrors to hit each other as well.
