We had the color gel you taped over the B&W TV screen

Same with the Vectrex. These overlays cost more than the games themselves

Loved Vectrex. My grandparents had one. It got lots of play

Quoted from RCA1:

same thing with the ditto mater sheets and duplicating fluid.
What was in that fluid anyway?

Most likely classified as a carcinogen but if they made it into a perfume I'd buy some for my lady. - I'd huff some now if I could.

I think there are new remakes of those overlays.

Quoted from Mr68:

Not likely at all, it's just isoproponol and methanol.

They wouldn't have handed out evaporating carcinogens to little kids!

#2106 50 days ago

Yeah they are remakes but nice remakes at that. Bet the originals are hard to come by in good condition. Never owned a Vectrex but have been pricing them for past few months. Seem like price has been holding steady at 350-400. Remembering playing it at my local video game store and was blown away at Vectrex version of Scramble (top 3 favorite arcade game) vector graphics made for the best arcade games.
Just to list a few....
Tempest
Red Baron
Tac Scan
Major Havoc
Space Duel
Omega Race
Asteroids (first vector???)
Battlezone
Star Wars
Some old Atari game in a spider web???

Damn not bad off the top of my head

Any I miss?

Found this in a box and was probably the reason why I have 30+ games. Luckily the batteries only puked a little and I was able to clean up and it works just like it did when I was a kid.

smdm toys.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That's pretty awesome. Where's mask-a-tron? Probably right in the pics and I'm over looking it. I had a bunch of those back in the day. Big foot, Oscar, rocket ship, etc.... I remember going to Zayre's department stores in the 1970s (yes, that's right... Zayre's) and seeing the pink cardboard boxes with Big Foot stacked a feet deep on the shelves... Two side-by-side rows.

Not really a toy, but these Casio Pocket TVs that Radio Shack used to sell have Christmas stocking stuffer written all over them.

Now we watch everything on iPhones.

I was a cable tv guy for years and we would use those little portable tv’s while working on distribution panels to “check that the signal was ok” but once everything switched to digital they became useless

I got an Uncle Milton’s Ant Farm as a gift when I was around 9 years old.
You had to mail away for the live ants.
What arrived in the mail was a container full of dead ants.
Determined to get my ant farm up and running, I went out in the yard and gathered up any ants I could find— red, black, large and small— and dumped them all into the ant farm.
That didn’t work. They were all dead in a week.

Just dug this out, to play with the granddaughter. At 1-1/2 years old, she was thrilled with the concept of
moving the levers, and watching the balls drop.....next up Avalanche! Love seeing her eyes up, and laugh!

I love this thread! If you asked me to name half of these things off the top of my head, I'd stumble and stutter to remember, but when I see these things its an instant YES, I remember that, funny how the mind works. I used to order the cowboys indians and soldiers from the backs of comics and make big scenes in the basement.

#2128 35 days ago

I bought a little girls favorite childhood toys at a yard sale today on the reserve. When I asked how much for the box of toys she said a dollar. I gave her $10 and left happy

At about age 8, I had a big pile of cheap plastic toy American and Japanese soldiers, which I would use to stage the Battle of Iwo Jima on the living room rug.

Used to have one of the old robots from about 1965-1967 brown it was. But the bummer is when the parents buy you something like that and not buy the batteries needed.
