Quoted from girloveswaffles:

Part of the Krofft Super Show:

What's now CNN Center (not for much longer though) in Atlanta used to be a Sid and Marty Kroft indoor amusement park of sorts. This was in the 70's I believe, and I didn't move to the Atlanta area until 1986, so I never got to see it in person. Now the atrium part of the building is a food court (a pretty crappy one at that), and I heard that CNN is moving out soon. But some of the indoor shots definitely look like they were taken in that space even as it is now. Trippy TV for sure. Also, in the shots with a city skyline in the background, I'm pretty sure that cylindrical building appears to be the Peachtree Plaza Hotel.

Now, I must view this.
Super show live at the Hollywood bowl. And they say time travel does not exist.

So, who has ever read, or owned a copy of this? Or has seen the 1957 Disneyland episode companion to this book?
pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png
Not my copy. this picture looks better than mine.

(Yes, the show opening is black and white, but the film is in color)

Who remembers the "Oh Oh flyer" promotion from Franco American? I ate a shit-ton of spaghettios when I was a kid (likely because my parents were dirt poor) and we saved up enough labels to get the free fabric flyer. I feel like I waited for MONTHS for that thing to arrive in the mailbox!!

Then the dog ate it

I looked up JMV on IMDB and found something interesting from early in his career.
In 1968 he was a cast member on The Banana Splits in a live action serial "Danger Island" (directed by Richard Donner!):
And remember the Homage to him in Rick and Morty from Season 2?

Nice! Danger Island is my KLOV avatar.

Maybe you can find what I can't. Way back, in the 60s, Tide laundry detergent made a commercial of car fixed up to look like a box of Tide. About all I can remember is that, yes, I saw this. And it was black and white TV.

This was a thing when I was growing up. My aunt did all of my cousins shoes this way. I have not seen any for years, but I guess bronzing baby shoes still happens.

I know BMX bikes come up often in here. Back in my youth, there were about 6 or 8 undeveloped housing lots around the corner from my house that we would make bike trails in.
This is NOT one of any photos from that era, but it reminded me of hours and hours spent making those trails and then riding them. The lots went undeveloped for years, I was out of high school when the last one sold, so each summer we would re-do the jumps, berms etc to have new routes.
How I never broke a bone or lost teeth back then I'll never know.

That had me musing how cool it is that I still have the Morse code key from when I was a Novice ham, cripes, 50 years ago?

Then my grin widened when I looked up its worth today!

Creepy Crawlers Thingmaker 2, Mighty Men & Monster Maker, Little Van Goes, and Slime. All popular here on Long Island in the late 70's.

I have realized that certain times in my life were my happiest. Nostalgia is a passion of mine now.
So, it is the year 1978 in this case. I am quite happy now, but this nostalgia is part of the reason for that.
My grandmother took us to see see the movie lord of the rings in 1978. The music embedded itself in my mind forever.

This is the area I focus on now. Mining the whole year for nostalgia.

When I was 7, I went into the hospital for 2 weeks for a chest surgery (it was intense but I actually remember it with some fondness - lots of family visited.) There was a sort of play room that had toys you could borrow and take back to your room. Mighty Men and Monster Maker was a source of endless fascination to me, I was actually bummed out when I was released to go home because I had to leave that toy for the next poor kid having an extended stay!

Also, these guys…they were around for years; I remember the puffy sticker versions as well as the little rubber guys that I’m pretty sure were based on these:

I also seem to remember something similar to Odd Rods with creeps & cars, but I can't recall the name.

My late aunt Adele bought me a full box of the stickers. As I recall it was five dollars.

This became the first box opening experience and many other box openings would follow.
