Quoted from Azmodeus:I have a really cool hairless cat. It stays at home.

Nothin' wrong with a hairless pussy.
Quoted from JethroP:Remember the VCR tape rental stores?
Don't think I will ever forget them. I filed bankruptcy in '98 from owning one! Then ended up working for Blockbuster until I graduated college.
Quoted from JethroP:Remember the VCR tape rental stores? They popped up all over, you could even buy a membership for discount rentals.
[quoted image]
Back when you also could also rent the VCR player because many did not have a player. Late 80s for that.
About 60 miles east from me in the small towns where everybody knows everybody, a deputy sheriff and his wife rented a movie and VCR player. They had a video camera and made a movie of theirselves hunkerin' down. Then they returned the player but forgot to pull their homemade tape. The VCR store did not check the player before it was rented out to someone else. It did not take long for word to get around. And the local newspaper had a blast with it.
The wife was a waitress. People started driving from Wichita to the small town to the restaurant to see this "movie" waitress.
Within about 6 weeks, the deputy quit his sheriff's job and the couple moved out of state.
===============================
Not long after that, in a town up north of me, the local video store owner rented out a VCR player to a customer. Only he forgot to pull a tape he had made of himself doing something with a little girl. The people who had rented this VCR player saw the tape and called the cops. And the video store owner was hauled off to prison.
Quoted from JethroP:Remember the VCR tape rental stores? They popped up all over, you could even buy a membership for discount rentals.
[quoted image]
I remember leaving a $50 paper check as a deposit at the video rental place. You bring the movie back, you get your check back. They cash the check if you don't. Carried the same check written to the store for a couple years, using it whenever we got a movie.

I think I once had the robot there.
Quoted from mooch:I remember having this monster jiggler with an imbedded plastic eyeball.

I had something similar in the 60s. It was purple. It had legs. It had one huge eyeball and a pair of butt cheeks. Wish I still had it.
Quoted from Azmodeus:I think I once had the robot there.
Yep, I had that robot also...don't remember what it was called, but there were a few different ones in that series.

Next thing you know, they'll be trying to sell old pinball machines for big bucks!
Quoted from HFK:How great is this setup? Everything you could possibly need within arms reach. I need to get a grill for my coffee table.[quoted image]
Don’t believe the internet. A hoser is not a Canadian hillbilly, or idiot. A hoser is a loser. You loose the hockey game, and you’re hosing down the ice at the end of the night.

The reprints of these rock.
My local library has a full set for me. And everyone else. Next time I’m there I’m going to take a picture of thier graphic novel section...
I took twelve at one time in January.

That is awesome.
I have those same Bob & Doug figures NIP. I might just have to commit the sin of unpackaging them, seeing how cool it all looks set up! They aren't exactly highly valuable, anyway.

If you do, get some museum putty. I used little bits of it to hold the beer bottles and other tiny bits in place. It works great!

Haha, those are hilarious!
Just bought a set for myself off eBay
Remember these Coleco tabletop arcades from the early eighties? Recently purchased a Ms. PacMan in good condition, but sold not working as-is for a cheap $30 bucks. Same as with old pinballs, people would leave sit with old batteries, unused for years and years causing corrosion within the battery compartment - rendering the terminal connections for the batteries useless. Luckily, that was the only issue with this one
I had to rig up a battery pack of "AAA" batteries to test the board, but it works and now I just have to get new terminal connection for the correct "D" batteries. I want to keep it as close to original as possible.
pac (resized).jpegCool! Yes, old batteries are the scourge of the vintage electronic game collector. It's noble of you to rescue that one!
Speaking of electronic games, keep your eye out, I plan to start a thread about them soon. I searched and one has never been started here. I'm going to start it off with my vintage electronic pinball games...

There was an early handheld electronic "pinball type" toy Ive seen only once on Ebay, and maybe from England?
About the size of a large cellphone, it had a metal playfield, glass or plastic covering, and what looked like old school
1930s spring bumpers. A metal ball was rolled around, I think to avoid hitting them maybe, which affected a score.
Im guessing from the 70s, to maybe early 80s?
Any ideas, anyone?

Wildfire Pinball
pasted_image (resized).pngThanks, close, but no. It had no graphics or colors. Industrial looking.
But i loved playing wildfire ages ago!
Like a miniature Hockey rink, with the ice being a brushed metal plate,
and maybe 8 spring scoring posts, scattered.
Years ago, I lost the auction at over $150.
It just looked cool as hell and looked more plain and 1930s.

I think I know exactly what you're talking about, and I believe there was one at Pacific Pinball Expo in2012. I may have a picture or two of it but it may take a while to find it.

Thats Amazing! Ive never seen that, before. Thank you for sharing that!
Here is a Vid for it.
Thats the period and "feel" but it was handheld, and simpler.
I do love the one you shared!!!

If you liked WildFire, you might enjoy reading this.

I got a wildfire pinball that year for Christmas. I got about five other games too. It was a great Christmas.
I just found this website. I could drop a dollar or two here.

That looks like my middle school skateboard. Except mine was solid yellow.
I think it was from Sears, or maybe Montgonery Ward.

My brother had that skateboard - mid 1970s I think. The polyurethane wheels were first adapted to skateboards in 1973 and that really launched the skateboard craze of the 70s much like SS boasted pinball in the same era. I agree with RCA1 - most likely mass-produced Sears or Monkey Wards...
ad (resized).jpgNever played. No idea how to. Been to a few parties with people playing. It looks interesting though.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:I love Cribbage. Been playing as long as I can remember. Grandparents, parents, father in law. The wife and I like to sit on the deck in the summer listening to music and playing crib all afternoon. Found a couple unique boards this weekend.
