Dude, I believed you. I went and checked it out after you told me about it. I hit the ramps NO PROBLEM. BUT, I will say it is likely with as many plays as SM got, the coils were getting tired. I did notice this on a few other games as well (not mine). Also, the coil strength is SM is significantly softer then XM, IM, or Tron, I think Stern started beefing up the coil strength in all games starting with IM.
I played a couple of games of APB and Tempest, I forgot how much I loved those games as a kid. I wish someone would have brought a Paperboy or Star Wars Arcade.

Yup, I miss Xmen now, but I'm loving Tron. I suspect I'll buy back Xmen from him in a few months when I get seller's remorse and his wife figures out he's hiding pins in the kids bedroom.
